A crock pot or slow cooker is perhaps the best deal on earth for reducing cooking costs in a busy family. You can just dump in your ingredients before work, put it on simmer, and dinner is done when you get home.
There are countless recipes out there for all variety of foods, and every time you cook this way, you’re saving money compared to eating out. Crock pot meals are also notoriously good as leftovers, which can mean additional savings.
With items we use a lot of, we buy them in bulk, and that’s particularly true when it comes to items that don’t perish. For example, we buy trash bags, laundry detergent, and diapers in the largest packages we can find. This cuts down on their cost per usage by quite a bit and, over the long haul, adds up to significant savings.
Interest rates are very low right now, so depending on the type of loans you have, it could be worthwhile to consolidate your student loans into one low-rate package.
It’s just one way to tackle student debt, but consider the various student loan consolidation packages available and see what you might save: Even a 1% reduction on a $10,000 loan saves you $100 a year, and your loan is probably bigger than that (and the rate cut you could get is probably bigger).
Everyone’s best friend when it comes to getting rid of junk is eBay. Online auctions are a sure-fire way to turn that sleeveless jacket (which came in and out of fashion in a week) into hard cash.
Some eBay sellers look at trends and try to predict what will be big ahead of the market. If you are good and don’t mind taking a risk then you can buy early in bulk and sell on when the craze hits.
If you’re just looking for a few extra bucks here and there, it’s easy to sell unwanted items from around your house. If you’re looking for more money, it pays off to get into selling bigger ticket items (like electronics) — especially since you have to cover the costs of shipping.
According to data from SherpaShare — a service that let drivers track income and expenses — an Uber driver can make $50,000 a year if they pick up an average of around 60 fares a week — which is about 20 hours of work. A full-time driver can make $100,000 a year, according to research.
So if you don’t mind picking up non-sober people on the weekends — which are typically the times with the highest earning potential for drivers — then this could be a great way for you to make some extra cash.
You get paid to share your thoughts and opinions — not a bad deal.
Using participants’ feedback, focus groups provide market research for brands and businesses. And in exchange, participants are paid for their time and opinions. Earnings range anywhere from $10 to $150 per one or two-hour session — which can add up to a good amount of extra cash if you do a few each week or month.
Start by checking out FocusGroup.com, which lists opportunities in your area and also pays $75 to $150 per survey you complete online.

If students are good at anything, it’s researching and writing. With the Amazon Kindle store, anyone can publish an eBook and make money.
And the Kindle app is now available on almost any device (laptops, iPads, smartphones and yes, Kindles) so your global market is huge!
List your book for $1.85 – $8.67 and you earn 70% of the sale. Considering Amazon is the ultimate selling machine (and remember people are looking to spend), that is a fantastic deal.
The best thing about this lucrative idea is that once you’ve invested the time (say 20 hours), you’ll earn a passive income for years to come! For a step-by-step guide to publishing and earning with eBooks, see “How to write a nonfiction eBook in 21 days“.
If you’ve got a good presence on social media or perhaps you even have a blog or website, you can start bringing in money immediately by promoting all sorts of companies, products, services and offers online.
Sign up as a publisher on the Awin network, check their offers blog or browse the merchant listings to find something you think your friends would be interested in, grab your affiliate link and share it. If someone buys (can be within up to 90 days) using your link you’ll make a nice commission.
To take it a step further, set up a website or a topical Facebook page and invite all your friends to join it and post your affiliate offers on there.
