This once-per-month post serves our community as a mini-version of a discussion board. It’s an open-ended post where you can leave a comment, share a tip or ask a question on whatever coupon, money-saving or debt topics you have in mind. You can also join and ask questions in our private Pocket Your Dollars Facebook group, which is separate from our public Facebook fan page.
As always, I look forward to hearing the voice of the Pocket Your Dollars community. Read through the Open Mic archives here.

Anyone know if Target will be selling discounted gift cards this year? I believe they did this one Sunday last year.
I heard it’s sunday the 4th.
If you use the target red card, 5% comes off of the gift card price as well.
Molly, The 5% comes all gift cards except the Target gift cards. It is this Sunday 10% off Target gift cards only.
What are Punch Perks off the ShopSavvy app? I opened my app and it asked me to upgrade my account but I don’t know if I should or not. Can anyone tell me what is it?
Oh I see it is actually call “Purch” Perks…..but still what is that? Is it like PYD Rewards program (or ebates)?
Does any one know where I can buy raw peanuts in the twin cities?
Try Mills Fleet Farm or perhaps Trader Joe’s or a Whole Foods store. I thought I used to get them at the regular grocery store, but it’s been several years so I’m not sure.
I tried fleet farm, no luck. I will check the other two. Thanks for the reply.
grocery stores, but more likely during the holiday season
Are Holiday stores doing the promotion this year where you buy a certain amount in gift cards and get a free pack of pop? I’m coming home for Christmas from CA, and I’d like to know if anyone has seen it going on.
I just asked today and it’s going on now. Buy $50 in Holiday gift cards get a pack of pop. Goes through Christmas or Christmas Eve I think.
Can anyone tell me what the best discount on itunes cards would be? I’ve seen buy one get one 20% off. What’s a really good price?
The “buy one get one 20% off” … That’s at Target. You are sometimes limited on dollar amount options for the cards.
Walgreens has this week: purchase 2 iTunes $25 gift cards; and get a free $5 walgreens gift card.
Sharyn – I would say anything for 15-20% off is a good price. You can often find discounted gift cards at eBay, Sam’s Club or Best Buy.
Why am I unable to locate and print coupon deals online? There was a coupon in the SmartSource coupons in the 12/11 Sunday paper for $3.00 off on one case of Ball or Kerr Glass Jars. I do searches and can’t find the coupon at all and the links from this site just sit and spin and never connect. Also, are there truly any free printable coupons from any of the coupon sites that you don’t have to download their application? Just wondering because I find I have more sucess asking my neighbors for coupons then I do on the internet. Any help or insite you an provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Paula – Oftentimes coupons in the Sunday paper coupon inserts are *only* found there so you will need to purchase the paper to get those coupons. It does happen on occasion that you can find a coupon both online and in the inserts, but your best bet is to just buy the paper to get those.
As for printable coupon websites, most require you to download their software to print coupons. This helps ensure that people are only printing a few of each coupon (generally the limit is 2 per computer/device).
If you are having trouble printing coupons online, I would recommend trying a different browser. I have had the most luck using Chrome as a browser. Hope this helps!
Thank you for the information Laura – I didn’t realize the purpose of the printing download on the coupon sites – but that makes total sense.
Why don’t my questions ever get responded to? 3rd time I have posted on this site and I have never gotten a response – it’s a black hole to me just like me trying to print manufacturer coupons from the internet. An acknowledgement would be appreciated.
Paula – Coupons.com is a great, trusted source for printing coupons. You do have to download their coupon printer before you can print coupons but that is standard with any coupon site. Once you do that, there are a plethora of coupons that are available to print and use. Hope that helps! You mentioned that you have neighbors who give you coupons. That’s a great way to save ink and frustration if you are having trouble printing.
Thank you Mary – I appreciate the information.
Lunds & Byerlys is selling honeysuckle frozen turkeys for .99 per pound this week, most are in the 12 or 20# range, but you might be able to ask for a specific size if you need something in between. Not as good a deal as the .69 per pound at Thanksgiving, but lower price than other stores. We roasted one of these for Thanksgiving and it was good. Each day they also have specials on various holiday grocery items thru this week.
Has anyone used the site “Honey”? https://www.joinhoney.com/
It supposedly searches automatically for online coupon codes for you and applies them.
Wondering if it’s legit?
Ack! ClickNPrintSavings.com is GONE! Where can I go to get gas coupons now? (I have THE worst luck with search engines and the BEST RESULTS when I ask here.)
Every week we get a flyer in our regular mail. It’s usually got coupons for gas in it. Also check the back of your Cub grocery receipts for gas coupons. Around the first Wednesday of each month it seems we get Kwik Trip and other gas station/convenience store ads in our Pioneer Press so watch for those with the coupons in them as well.
