*IMPORTANT UPDATE* Cub Foods has updated their website since we first wrote this post. It now appears that you are not buying your discounted tickets at Cub itself; rather, you’re picking up a promotion card with a coupon code on it that saves you $2 per ticket when you purchase online. (The code is ICECUB17 – there, I just saved you a trip.) ;) Also note that there is a $2.50 service fee per type of ticket (child or general) when purchasing online.
Fulfill your kiddos’ Frozen fantasies with a visit to the Ice Castles in MN – Stillwater, to be exact. It opens this weekend on Friday the 6th, so we wanted to be sure you knew of the discounted admission opportunities currently available.
It looks like the best discount currently available is to use the coupon code ICECUB17 to save $2 off each ticket purchased online. With the code, this is what you’ll pay:
|Weekday (Mon-Thurs)||Weekend (Fri-Sun)|
|Child Admission (4-11)||$4.95||$6.95|
|General Admission (12+)||$7.95||$10.95|
Plus, there is a $2.50 service fee per type of ticket purchased. So if you were purchasing two child admissions and two general admissions, your service fee would be $5 ($2.50 + $2.50). Make sense? Kids 0-3 are free, so don’t worry about buying a ticket for them.
(If you want discounts to other family fun activities throughout the year, then now’s the time to get a 2017 Entertainment Book – fka Happenings Book – complete with digital coupons since you can get them for as little as $17 each like we explained here.)
Ice Castle hours are as follows:
- Monday-Thursday, 3-9pm (closed Tuesdays)
- Friday, 3-10pm
- Saturday, 12-10pm
- Sunday, 12-8pm
When you buy a ticket, you are buying an arrival window. For example, if you buy a ticket from 7-7:30pm and get there early, you will need to wait until 7pm to enter. If you arrive after 7:30pm, you will need to wait and may lose your ticket. Once you’re inside, you may stay as long as you like (although I think they’ll kick you out eventually). ;)
Another Discount Ticket Option
KOWZ & KRUE92 Big Deals has an offer for a $12.95 gift certificate to Ice Castles for $6.50 ($12.95 covers a weekend general admission). I do not think you would not be able to use the Cub coupon code with this deal as it appears to work like a Groupon. Also, it appears that the only option to receive the certificate is via postal mail, so if you want to go this weekend you would not get it in time. Still, it’s worth a shot if you’re planning to wait a little while before going!
Ice Castles Tips and Reviews
Never been to the Ice Castles? Their website has a t-o-n of information and tips for your visit, including dates and times that the Ice Princesses (a.k.a. Elsa and Anna) will be there as well as the dates and times for the Fire Performances.
I always find it helpful to see what other people have said about places like this, so I rounded up a few reviews from people who have been to Ice Castles before. Note that these reviews are for the Eden Prairie location (it has now moved to Stillwater):
