St. Paul is the place to be this weekend with Winter Carnival and Crashed Ice events, plus check out a wedding consignment sale and more with the latest in Twin Cities deals.
Your turn: What are your favorite Winter Carnival events?
St. Paul Winter Carnival
The St. Paul Winter Carnival is underway. Through 2/3, St. Paul will be bustling with events of all sorts – some free. Enjoy art exhibits, parades, ice and snow carving competitions and more, not to mention the ever-popular Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt. Check out the full Winter Carnival schedule to see all of the options available to you. Chances are, you’ll find something to get you out of the house and into the fun of the Winter Carnival.
Red Bull Crashed Ice
As part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival, Red Bull Crashed Ice is back, and it’s free for spectators. This crazy downhill ice-skating race takes place on Saturday, 1/26 at 7pm, and it looks like it won’t be as bitterly cold for spectators as it was last year, thank goodness. There are a few lead-up qualifying races as well over the next couple of days, so if Saturday night doesn’t work for you, you can still take in the fun. The finals will also be streaming on the Red Bull Crashed Ice website.
As you can imagine, between regular Winter Carnival festivities and Red Bull Crashed Ice (which takes place on a course built around the Cathedral and down city streets) traffic will be crazy. Luckily, there are over 50 businesses (some as far away as Burnsville, Stillwater and Bloomington) running shuttles to the Crashed Ice events. When you find a venue with a shuttle that you may be interested in, give them a call or check out the business’s website or Facebook page to get details.
Wedding Consignment Sale
Planning a wedding? Three Rivers Park District is having what sounds like a fabulous Wedding Consignment Sale this Sunday, 1/27 at the Silverwood Park Visitor Center. From 1-4pm, browse and buy everything from new and gently used dresses to wedding decor, invitation supplies and more.
Even if you aren’t planning a wedding, some of the formal wear may come in handy for prom, or those of you planning a grad party may find some supplies at a good price.
Creative Kidstuff’s Mom’s Night Out
Creative Kidstuff is hosting a Mom’s Night Out this Sunday, 1/27, at their Minneapolis store. From 6pm-8pm enjoy wine and snacks, make and take activities, and more. The event is free, but you must register in advance. The West End store is also hosting an event, but they have reached maximum capacity, so if you are interested in the Minneapolis event, I’d register soon.
Free Cooking Essentials Seminars
Kitchen Window in Minneapolis’ Calhoun Square is offering a bunch of free Cooking Essentials seminars over the weekend of 2/23-2/24. The seminars will demonstrate everything from making your own stock to using a wok. It’s a month away, but I have the feeling these free cooking seminars will fill up fast, so head over to the Kitchen Window website to register soon. (Thanks, PhenoMNal Twin Cities!)
Feel free to contact us if you know of any additional coupons, deals and events available to readers in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
