Staples.com: Self-Inking Return Address Stamp for $0.99 + Free Shipping

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

I (Laura) usually print my return address labels on Avery labels, but here’s an even easier (and cheaper) solution: get a self-inking return address stamp for $0.99 + free shipping from Staples.com. Here’s how:

  • Go to Staples.com and click the banner in the upper right-hand corner that looks like the image above.
  • Choose the first option (for $0.99) and pick black, blue, green, red or violet ink.
  • Add your text (return address or just your name/child’s name/signature/etc.)
  • Click “Advanced Editing” to customize text and insert image. NOTE: You must insert an image of your own to get free shipping (I did a quick search for “fancy W” to add an image to my return address stamp).
  • Proceed through the checkout process and you’ll pay just $0.99 + tax and get free shipping.

I (Laura) just tried this and was thrilled to see that it worked. I’m considering order another one for stamping my children’s books, too.

Your turn: What kind of stamp did you make – return address? signature? book label? something else?

  • JoAnna

Love this deal! Wonder how long it will last.

  • sarah

    Great deal thanks!!

  • Steve

    Shipping charges do apply

    • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Steve – If you upload your own image, shipping is free.

      • http://staples Jaclyn Carter

Hi Laura – I did upload my own image … from my photos… and it still wanted to charge me $9.95 for shipping :(

        • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Jaclyn and Tiffany – Hmmm. I ordered this deal four separate times and it worked for me each time. As MT said, maybe you need to have an account to get it the free shipping. I don't have a page that explicitly lists the promotion so I don't know for sure.

        • http://staples Jaclyn Carter

Thanks for answering so quickly….. guess what? I believe they have taken this order away (Staples, I mean)…. I clicked onto your photo again for the 99cents … and Staples brings you to a screen that says the first line – is now $9.99 ~~ not 99 cents. I also put a call into them but they are closed until tomorrow. It didn't work for me but it did sound like a great offer!!!

        • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Jaclyn – Well, whaddya know…they did change the price on the first line (but not the picture). Weird. I'll mark this post as expired for now. Thanks for the heads up!

  • Christine

Thanks Laura! I was just telling my hubby yesterday that we needed return labels for our business. Now we have a stamper for $1, and I bought one for our personal use too.

  • Mary

I was excited all the way through, added an image of a dove and ended up getting charged shipping. Spent a bit of time on this, too bad.

    • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Mary – Did you add an image of your own or did you use one of their images? You need to upload one of your own for it to work.

  • Heather

I uploaded a fancy letter like you suggested and it worked great!

  • mt

you also have to sign in or up and have a password to get it for .99

  • Tiffany

I uploaded my own image and it still charged for shipping.

    • Cassandra

Same for me…..uploaded our company logo and was charged shipping. Still a good deal and thanks for the update!

  • Theresa

Great deal! It worked for me, and yes you need to upload your own image to get the free shipping. Just went back to grab a couple more and the deal is gone!

  • April Ulrich

I also uploaded my image but they wanted to charge me shipping. I left it in my cart until today and now the price is $9.99. Very frustrating! Would like to know how some customers got the free shipping when it sounds like we all did the same thing.

  • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

April – My guess is that they switched the promotion during the day and then raised the price at the end of the day. Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. :(

  • Christine

I had received the order with free shipping when I checked out. Now I received an email that says they are charging for shipping. I don't think this is acceptable. Any thoughts?

    • ncdcmi

I got the email, too, that says now I have to pay shipping, or they will cancel the order. Not happy.

    • Wendy

I got the same email and am really unhappy about it. Isn't it false advertising to NOT charge shipping at check-out, but then request it via email days later!?!?

      VERY disappointed, Staples.

    • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

I got that same email. :(

The weird thing is that I placed one order in the early a.m. before posting this deal just to be sure it worked. THAT order arrived yesterday morning (just one day later!). Then I ordered three others in the afternoon after asking my husband if he needed any for work. I'm assuming that email refers to those orders as they haven't arrived yet. Bummer.

Instead of contacting Staples' customer service as I hear people are on hold for a l-o-n-g time right now, I went on their Facebook page and sent a PM as that's what they told others to do who were complaining on Staples' news feed.

I ordered three separate orders and don't mind having them ship all three together. I sent a message to see if they would do that and I'll report back with what I find.

      • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Carrie Rocha

Laura – I know you said you weren't going to post this on their FB wall, but I think you should (very respectfully). ESPECIALLY since they honored the free shipping on the first order you placed, but not on the subsequent ones.

    • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Carrie Rocha

I agree that it isn't very tasteful of them to email customers after-the-fact with different terms. Disappointing to say the least.

  • mt

I don't go on facebook so I appreciate any info from there. I am sure Staples doesn't want people complaining where everyone can see it on facebook.

This is my first experience with Staples and it is not a good one. It specifically said when I started placing the order that there were no shipping charges. Or I would not have continued. Their site was set up that way to process the orders. Other people were complaining about not being able to get the free shipping, so they did have a definite process.

If they pull this turnaround, I will not be shopping at Staples.

    • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

I received this message via Facebook:

Hi Laura, I am so sorry for the confusion with this promotion. Unfortunately, we have received communication that the orders cannnot be combined. I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. We will honor the .99 cents for the stamp but the shipping fees will remain. ^TB

:( I am bummed as my additional orders were for my husband's work place (three stamps for him and his team members) and now they won't get them.

  • jaclyn

I called and emailed Staples…..I've not received an answer from either place. :(

  • ncdcmi

I did hear from them via PM on Facebook. They basically said the same as they did to Laura, that they would honor the $.99 price if I still wanted the stamp, but the shipping costs would remain. What I don't understand either is how in the world it would cost them $9.95 to mail that stamp.

  • Heather

I'm bummed this didn't work too! I hadn't noticed until now but then my husband said the $.99 was refunded on our card. I also sent a note to Staple on FB but haven't heard back. It is disappointing that they didn't honor this especially since I spent about an hour making 3 different stamps.
