*EXTENDED* Serve.com: Earn Free $25 w/ New Account & $25 Deposit (Exp 1/17)

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

How does $25 in free cash sound? Well, for a limited time, Serve.com will give you a free $25 credit when you sign up for a new Serve account (you must sign up through this link) and make a one-time deposit of $25 or more into your account.

This offer is valid through December 31 January 17 and is not available to existing Serve account-holders or any person who previously canceled his or her Serve account.

What is Serve.com?

What is Serve.com? It is a digital payment service, owned by American Express, which provides you with a safe way to make everyday purchases anywhere American Express cards are accepted in the U.S. It is similar to Paypal.

How to get your credit

Here’s how to receive the $25 credit

  1. Create a free Serve account (you must use the link provided here), then click on the link in the verification email you will receive within 30 minutes of signing up.  (Be sure to check your Spam folder if you don’t see it in your inbox)
  2. Once your account is set up, link your account to a funding source – checking or savings account, debit card, credit card or MoneyPak.
  3. After you have funded your account using a bank account, debit or credit card, go back to your account’s homepage (click on the “My Money” link at the top of the page), and on the left-hand side, you will see a gray box with a space to enter a dollar amount. Enter an amount of at least $25 and click on the blue “Add” button.
  4. Review your transaction and click on the blue “Review” button to process the request. (Note: A gray box will pop up warning you your bank may charge a fee for a cash advance from a credit card. If you are using a debit card, you shouldn’t need to worry about this.)

Some people have reported the $25 credit from Serve being posted right away after funding the account with a debit card (they needed to logout and log back into their account to see it), while others have reported it taking longer. The fine print does say it can take up to 30 days to receive your $25 credit.

How to Withdraw Money

Once you put $25 into your account, I am sure you are wondering how you can get that money out. You can withdraw money by being on the “My Money” page (if you aren’t already) and clicking on the small “Withdraw” link in the middle of the page.

Serve offers three ways to withdraw your money, which are:

ATM Withdrawal
After your Serve account has been created, you will receive your Serve card via snail mail within 7-10 business days after you register. You can use this card to make purchases anywhere American Express cards are accepted, or use it to withdraw money from an ATM. Serve will waive its fee of $2 for your first withdrawal every month.

Funds Transfer to Bank Account
You can link your bank account to your Serve account and directly transfer funds between the two.

Request a Check
You have to go a little bit further to request a check, but if you don’t want to wait to receive your Serve card to withdraw the money and don’t want to share your bank account information, you can call the Serve Customer Service number at 1-800-954-0559 and request a check be mailed to you.

Your turn: How do you plan on using your free $25 credit? Have you, or anyone you know, used Serve.com? What are your thoughts and/or experiences with it?

What! It looks to me like I'm just funding the additional $25.00 from the account I set up. What am I missing?

  • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Jana – I haven't tried this offer myself as I am already a Serve customer, but I *think* you don't need a minimum amount to open your account (I'll fix what we have listed above). Once you open your account, add $25 to it and you should get a $25 bonus credit for a total of $50 in your account. If you try this, please let us know if this works – apparently it already did for someone else.

I recently obtained a serve account activated my account added $76 to it, and use that same money to pay my phone. why haven't i received my $25? am i doing something wrong?

  • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Melvin – Did you sign up through this link? https://www.serve.com/load25/ You may not be able to get the $25 credit if you just added an account from the Serve homepage.

    Laura-

Is this kind of like a pre-paid credit card or can I use it like that? I am expecting a little one in March. My husband and I keep our finances seperate but have started setting aside a certain amount for baby. As of now I just throw it in my checking account so it's not really seperated. I had thought of getting a gift visa so that we could just use that card for any baby purchases but also don't want to waste $5 just to get a card. Do you think this might be a good option? Also, do you know if I could set it up so both me and my husband could use it?

Sorry so long, but really appreciate the help!

  • April Swanson

It worked, got my extra $25.00 right away, I just had to log out and log back in again! Stocking stuffer money, thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Jackie – Yes, it works like a prepaid credit card, but what's even better is that you don't have any activation fees with this one!

I do not know if you could set it up as a joint account. I looked for information on it but couldn't find anything – sorry!

  • Aharon

My husband and I both did this and the $25 credited for each of us right away. It does take a couple days to get the funds transferred back to your bank acct though since you have to wait for them to make 2 small deposits to your bank acct & then you go back to your Serve acct to verify them.

    A couple of notes:

    1) I don't *think* I used the link but I'm not seeing any reference to it being required for the credit. I added $25 today from my debit card and so far I'm not seeing the credit. I will update when/if it comes…hopefully I didn't burn this one! :-/ Didn't read the part about having to use the link. We'll see if that's true.

    2) When you click on your link, the promotion end date has been extended to Jan 17th.

  • AsUntoTheLord

I decided not to wait to see if it would come. I called Customer Service and was told that the account I had started did NOT have the promo attached so if nothing further was done, I would NOT be receiving the credit. I explained the situation, how I'd seen the promo on a blog but didn't see any reference (at that time) to the specific link being necessary nor did that appear anywhere in the "fine print" of their promo page at the link above. She said she was referring the case higher up and someone should be getting back to me to see *IF* they can credit the account anyhow. I'll update when I know more…

It might be a good idea to stress that ONLY the link above will trigger the promo to be attached that will add $25 when the other requirements are met. HTH :-)

  • Sheepy

Oh, I just did this but I didn't realize I needed to use the link.

  • dewayne

I signed up a few weeks ago but didn't load $$ until today and the $25 showed up instantly. Can you update your link b/c the promotion is now good thru 1/31/2013. Gotta tell me friends!!

    Thanks.
