Rainbow Foods, Copps, Pick ‘n Save Shopping List 1/13 – 1/19/13 (Incl. Double Double Daze on 1/19)

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

**UPDATE** This Saturday (1/19) is advertised on the website as a Double Double Daze. You’ll be able to double 10 manufacturer’s coupons in a single $25 transaction.

If you are new to shopping Double Daze, be sure to read Roundy’s (Rainbow Foods, Copps, and Pick N Save’s) coupon policy before you get started to understand all the restrictions of their double coupon promotion.

If you shop at Copps or Pick’n Save in southern WI, and your ad doesn’t match the items mentioned in this shopping list, then check out what we saw for sales last week.

Two things to remember about this list of deals. First, it does not include every sale-priced item that has a coupon. It only has those items whose final price is low enough for us to mention it. Second, it is a starting list: as we learn of more deals whose final price is low enough, we will update this list. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

New to Pocket Your Dollars? Learn to read this shopping list. If you have issues printing coupons, then try the troubleshooting suggestions found here.

Your turn: What other deals did you find this week?

  • Jenny

Thanks for this weeks quick list.

  • Tracy

The Kraft Singles coupon posted is a instore Publix retailer coupon. Not a manufacturer coupon.

  • Tracy

Also you might want to re-check your Pic N Save Ibotta deals. Many of the values have decreased in value than what you posted here. Like the Rice Krispies bars are now 50c from Ibotta then $1 that's posted.

I wonder why Roundy's is running some of the same deals several weeks in a row. I don't remember that being the case before. You must be copying and pasting quite a bit?? I'm just wondering if anyone else noticed this.

    • Tracy

Maybe some of the duplicates are from the booklet that go for awhile?

  • tracy

I heard there is another unlimited double day coming up. do u know any details about that?

    Thank u

  • sharon

Did anyone find the Lean Cuisine Salad Additions? My store had a huge prop box above the frozen Lean Cuisine meals, but no Salad Additions. Thanks!

    • Tracy

I saw them right under that sign and right above the Lean Cusine. Maybe your store didn't get them in yet but they are coming in soon.

  • Sue

Rainbow has the 16 oz. Purina One beyOnd Cat Food for $2.89. Use coupon for a free box from 1/13 Red Plum. Expires 2/13 for an on-going deal.

  • Amanda

January 26th, I heard it talked about at my store.

    • JoAnna

      Looking forward to the savings!

  • ellen

if no one needs their bonus box tops i'll take them. my children's school takes them.

  • AsUntoTheLord

I think the Planter's PB coupon mistakenly got added to the Nut-trition deal, or is that righr?

  • Angie W

The Harvestland Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts are $11.99 per box regular price. They are all vegetarian fed, no hormones, no antibiotics, free range, individually quick frozen. Seems similar to the Bare brand you can find at Target.

  • carol

There's a 75 cents off 1 10 oz or greater Frigo Superstring string cheese q in Feb AY, making that a better deal when doubled, if it's included in the sale.

Also, I was wondering: Is it allowable to use a store q from the flyer & an identical store q from the insert in the same transaction on 2 of the same type of item when each q specifies "limit 1"?

    • Jessica

My PNS wouldn't let me. The 2nd coupon wouldn't even scan.

    • Sherry

      Carol:

Rainbow in Chaska would not allow this.

    • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Carol – My thought is that it *should* be accepted as they are different coupons from different sources, but readers have widely reported that you need to use them in separate transactions (probably because the barcode is the same for both coupons).

  • melissa

Can someone tell me if the NTown store has $25 gas gift cards?

    Thanks

  • jennifer

    I'm starting to plan:)

    • Jennifer

YAY!!! I hope they continue to run these unlimited deals once a month! I must say, I also appreciate the 5 coupon per like item limit, as it is easier to get everything on my list!

      • jennifer

I agree a montly unlimited day would be FAB-U-LOUS!!! I feel like I should wait till they offer the unlimited coupon days to do my shopping to get the best bang for my buck. I travel near 1 hour to come to a Rainbow so I make it worth my drive! Then I head to the gas station in Apple Valley to use my Fuel Rewards to get home:)

  • Amanda

    Kemps cottage cheese 16 0z. $2.00 use $0.75 off 2 from 1/6 SS, $1.25 each

  • Mona

I was wondering about the post under the "Roundy's shopping list". The post about the "classico pasta sauce." wouldn't the oop be $1.68, plus get $3 off future purchase?

Because the $1/2 would double to $2/2 and if buying 4 sauces and using (2) coupons that would equal $4 off the oop price. All in all the oop would be $1.68 right? Not, $3.68?

Please clarify. Is this a typo? Or, am i missing something?

    Thanks!

    • Sue

The cost for 4 is $7.68. Minus $4 in coupons is $3.68.

  • Mona

oh my gosh! I was adding up only 3! LOL. oh my!

Thank you for the clarification, Sue ;)

  • sarah

Looking for a good price on B/S chicken. The GNP in the flyer was $5.99 for 20oz – a pricey I thought. Any suggestions?

  • angela

I was wondering which 'per cent' of hamburger I should buy this week so I analyzed the cost per ounce of lean meat. To my surprise, the 'fattier' packages cost less, even if the fat is discarded.

    1-13-2013

Rainbow 85% lean ground round $2.99 / lb

    85% of 16 oz = 13.6 oz lean meat

The lean meat costs $.02198 per oz, or an actual cost of $3.52 / lb lean meat

    1-13-2013

CUB 93% Lean ground beef $3.49 lb.

93% of 16 oz = 14.88 ozs of lean meat

The lean meat costs $0.2345 per oz, or an actual cost of $3.75 / lb of lean meat

    1-6-2013

Last week CUB had 73% lean ground beef at $2.49 / lb

    73% of 16 oz = 11.68 oz

$0.213 per oz, or an actual cost of $3.41 / lb lean meat

My math may not be 100% correct, but this has given me some perspective on value.

  • Mack

Looks like the 19th is a Double Double Daze. Up to 10 coupons. Awesome. I hope there are some good deals this weekend.

  • Pingback: Pick ‘N Save/Copps/Rainbow Foods: Deals for the week of January 13-19, 2013 :: Money Saving Mom® :: Store Deals

  • Laney

where does it state this DD Daze this saturday? my flyer (copp's/pick and save) and website doesn't state this….. I sure hope it is at ours!!

  • Naly

Is Double Double the 19th only for certain stores? I didn't see any signs up at Rainbow Eagan so I asked customer service, and they said as far as they know it is not. Maybe they didn't get the notice yet??

  • mary

It's advertised on the scrolling banner of each store's website.

  • Amy

The thing about the 73% lean ground beef is when you cook its alot of fat to drain off it more worth it to get the leaner one at rainbow so you dont have to drain much fat off when cooked off!

  • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Carrie Rocha

Go to http://www.rainbowfoods.com/default.aspx. It is right on their home page.

    • Terri

I just received an email from Rainbow indicating Double Double Daze this Saturday.

      • Laney

thanks! I found the banner on Pick n Save site… I just hate when its not on the flyer, one time a couple months ago, I was at the store and they had a sign up saying the website was incorrectly showing a double double daze… makes me leary.

  • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Carrie Rocha

That's how I figure it too. Plus, a butcher once told me that the meat is not necessarily as fatty as the percentage on the package. That is the just the fattiest it could be, but it may be leaner than that and oftentimes is.

    • denny

Although I am a Rainbow only shopper generally, when it comes to meats there is an excellent store on paine avenue (near 7th St.) in St Paul called Morelli's that has an excellent meat selection. This week they have ground beef 83% 4 pounds for $10.99. They have a liquor store/deli meats and cheese/butcher shop combo store. Their meats and treats are fantastic and their butcher help is also. They often have meats cheaper, and I believe, better quality than most chains. It is the eastsides best kept secret. Beware, they only take some pre-aproved checks and cash-no credit cards. Parking can be a hasle on certain days also. Goole Morellis and you should find thier current meat and deli sale ad.

  • Lorissa

does the double double daze this saturday apply to pick n save stores also?

    • AsUntoTheLord

I just called Roundy's corporate to confirm and yes she said all the Wisconsin and Minnesota stores will be having Double Double Daze this Saturday. Ironically I've called several stores before calling corporate and none of them knew anything about it…poor communication from corporate if you ask me.

  • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Angela – That's an interesting way to look at it. Thanks for sharing!

I *usually* only purchase 80/20 or higher because I often use ground beef in meatloaf/meatballs/etc. where I don't have the opportunity to precook and drain the fat off before serving.

    • Amanda

Someone who raises cattle once told me that the leaner meat is from an old cow that can no longer keep meat on it's bones, so he strongly recommends buying the fattier meat and draining because it is actually better quality meat. Just my two cents =)

      • Tina

I was told by a nutritionist to not only drain the ground beef after cooking, but put it in a colander and run it under hot water to get rid of even more fat when you can. Just thought I'd pass that on.

    • Linda

A while back I saw Rachel Ray free-form her meatloaf, put it on a cooling rack and then into a sided cookie sheet. I wouldn't cook meatloaf or meatballs any other way anymore. There is more crunchy edge to it which I like and the fat drips down into the pan so you can use the fatter, tastier hamburger. No more soggy meatloaf!

  • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Thanks for the heads up, Mack!

  • Alissa

I actually asked an assistant store manager (who also coupons) about this because it's confusing. She said that even though they are from different sources and the dates are sometimes different, the company (and therefore computers) view them as the same coupon. She readily admitted that it was confusing and she wished they would change something to make it easier, but that hasn't happened.

    HTH

  • Alicia

I am not going to promise anything but my mom works at the bloomington Rainbow and she just heard saturday the 19th will be an unlimited coupon day!! :) Her information is usually very reliable!!

    • Amanda

The 19th is actually double double and the 26th is unlimited. Confirmed at my store.

      • Janice Marfiz

Nice, I have been waiting for my store to confirm it. :-)

  • http://laura196511@hotmail.com Mary

I can't find the shelf price for the 18 count eggs on the rainbow website… does anyone know the shelf price?

    • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Mary – The coupon states "save up to 81¢," so that would make the shelf price $2.79 (or close to it).

  • mykaxiong

There was a $.55 of a package off Butterball Regular or fully cooked Turkey bacon a few weeks ago, could we use that to make it $.45 a package? (Coupon states NO NOT DOUBLE)

    • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Where did you find that coupon? I don't see it in the coupons we got in the Star Tribune.

      • Jenny

I wonder of it was only in the Pioneer Press on 1/6?

  • Jenny

The Classico coupon from SS 11/18/12 expired on the 13th, bummer it would have been a great deal.

  • Jenny

I can't find the planters peanut butter coupon from SS 1/13 is it listed in error?

    • Terri

I got the Planter's Peanut Better $1 coupon from the SS last Sunday inserts.

    • Jenny

      I found it, thank you.

  • http://tkaybrannon@yahoo.com TamiKay

    Yes they do:)

    • melissa

Thanks. I went in and saw that they have them for BP only.

  • Michelle

I am wondering if catalinas that say manufacturer coupon, will they double if used at Roundy's stores on double days?

    • Jen

As long as they are under $1 mine always have!

  • Sue

This link: $1/1 Dole Frozen Fruit Single Serve Cups (coupons.com savings club) printable

takes me to All You subscription page on PYD

  • opie

I did the 8/$20 deal for Nature valley bars so used 4 – $0.50/2 and received not only the $4.50 coupon off of milk but an additional $3 off next visit so subtracting double coupons and additional coupons from checkout brings price per box <$1.10 which is great for these bars.

  • SarahBB

Question about RB's new "limit to 4 like coupons per transaction" policy. Is that just for doubling purposes, or do we think that applies to any coupon? For example, the Purina Beyond $3.25 off coupon that came out last week, not a doubler, but are we still limited to 4 per transaction? We used 3 today, the cashier took off the exact price of the item —$2.89–so no overage, but still FREE cat food!!

  • Rachel

The link to the $1/1 Silk soy milk coupon is only 75 cents.

  • Terri

I just got my All You magazine and there is a coupon for $.55 off Butterball Turkey bacon.

  • Barb

Or best yet, support your local farmer and buy local beef by the quarter. we have been doing this for over 2 years now and I wouldnt go back. Grass fed is amazing! IMOH

  • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Linda – Thanks! That's genius. I am definitely going to do that from now on. I free-form my meatloaf anyway but never thought of putting it on a cooling rack. My husband *loves* meatloaf and meatballs so I make them both quite often.

  • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Thanks, Sue! The link should work now.

  • http://www.pocketyourdollars.com Laura Wales

Sarah – The "limit 4 like coupons per transaction" that you see in the list above is actually the fine print on the coupon. Rainbow Foods' policy is a limit of 5 like coupons per *day*: http://www.pocketyourdollars.com/2012/12/a-new-ra

So you could use 5 of the Purina Beyond per day, unless the coupon has an even stricter restriction in the fine print.

  • Michelle

Now that I look closer the catalina says manufacture coupon, on the far right it says redeemable at Walgreens but on the lower right in small print it says "redeemable only at Walgreens" I had noticed for a while that all catalinas at Walgreens said this but I used one recently at PNS, I didn't look at it that closely so now I am wondering if I shouldn't have used it. I assume I should not be able to redeem at PNS. I don't want PNS to not get reimbursed for the coupon but also wonder since its a manufacture coupon if Walgreens is being sneaky.

  • Jen

I went to Pick N Save last night, the casheir told me that if the coupon doesn't scan and doesn't have numbers to type in they will not accept the coupon.

  • Alicia

Your right it was a mistake but I am super excited about the 26th! sorry about the wrong info!!

  • Sherry

I had a very disappointing visit at Rainbow in Chaska last night (Wed). Five of the ten things I went in to purchase were completely gone. Not to mention the fact that buying the five other things on my list alone messed up my "shopping plan" in meeting the $25 minimum and using specific coupons. If I want those five things, I'll now have to make yet another trip on Saturday MORNING to hopefully find what I'm looking for. I should know better! I've had bad luck shopping on Wednesday nights in the past, but I haven't gone in a long time and thought I would give it another try. What a mistake! The other upsetting thing is that there were no individuals stocking shelves to even ask if additional items could be found in the stock room. I guess I'm sticking with early Saturday mornings (my one and only day to possibly sleep in)!

    • Mary

I was at Bloomington Rainbow on Wednesday late afternoon and they were pretty picked over too. I don't have a problem getting to $25 with the other items I buy, so it didn't mess up my doubling. Customer service was very friendly, and I got rainchecks for what was out of stock. Hopefully I can use the rainchecks on 1/26 if rumor of unlimited doubles is true.

      • Terri G

I was at the BP store yesterday and the cashier confirmed that they are having an unlimited coupon day next Saturday the 26th. She told me she is working on getting her coupons together and I told her about PYD.

Tombstone or Jack’s Naturally Rising Pizza $2.99

    $0.75/1 Jack’s Pizza printable

$2/4 manufacturer’s coupon from in-store flyer found in the literature rack near the door or at the Service Desk

Final price: As low as $1.49 after doubled coupon

Wouldn't final price be .50 each pizza if we get the 2/$4 coupon from in store?

    • Julie

You can only use 1 since they are both manufacturer coupons.

  • Tracy

Has anyone done the Old ElPaso deal yet? I was just wondering if it's a instant deal for $2 off meat or it prints a coupon for $2 off a meat purchase in the future. Also I'm wondering if you can buy more than 2 and of them and get the deal twice? I hope someone can help me.

    • mary

Tracy – You need a $2/1 coupon from the in-store flyer to get the $2 off meat, so it would need to be purchased in the same order. I don't know if you can use more than one coupon or not.

      • Tracy

Mary, Oh ok. I didn't realize it was an in store flyer deal. Thanks for the info!

  • Christina

The snikiddy coupon I got was only for .50/1. Did they change it or am I missing something?

    • Terri

They must have changed it, I printed my coupon on the 15th and the coupon is listed for $1.00.

  • Heidi

Yes, same here. I was confused as well.

  • Alison

Just an FYI the College Inn broth coupon is no longer available. There is an .85/1 Multi Grain or PB Cherrios printable on the General Mills site.

  • Christina

Is anyone having any luck with the $1/3 smartones coupon? Both links go to the same place and when I click print, it just brings me to a different page and doesn't do anything.

  • Josh

    ***Deal idea***

Buy 2 Old El Paso Taco Shells (10-12 ct.) for $1.50 each

Buy 1 package of Fresh Meat (any kind)

Use $2/1 Fresh Meat when you Buy 2 Old El Paso Taco Shells in-store coupon

Final price: $1.50 each, plus $2 off fresh meat

I'm having a difficult time figuring out this deal. I have 2 $0.60/3 old el paso product printables that I printed last week.(not sure if they are still on coupons.com or not) and I plan on buying 6 taco shells and then using the in-store coupon to get the money off of the fresh meat.

Buying 6 packs of taco shells should entitle me to $6 dollars off fresh meat but do I need to use 3 in-store coupons or do I have to do separate transactions? I wish I could see the in-store coupon.

  • mykaxiong

I got it in the sunday paper of 1/6. I can't remember in which insert.

  • sarah

Do the nature valley granola bars and the cereal count towards the buy 10 items and get 50 bonus box tops. Was wondering if anyone did this and it printed out?

    Thanks

    • jen

      They should!

    • mary

Sarah – Yes, it should. I made a note on the list as well.

  • JoAnn

FYI The chicken of the sea tuna coupon specifically states, "Do not double" you will pay .38 each with coupon at Roundys

    • mary

      Thanks!

  • JoAnn

Ok, having problems with several more coupons. The Cubison croutons coupon will NOT print. Also, when I try to print the DOLE fruit smoothie I get a 404 error. Can you please check on these? Also, Did this list double up because it seems like it repeats itself 3 times?

    • mary

JoAnn – I was able to print the croutons coupon just now, so it may be something with your computer. Otherwise, try a different browser. I fixed the Dole Fruit Smoothie printable link so it should be working now. Some items are on the list multiple times if they had a coupon in the weekly ad and were also in the coupon booklet. There may also be some that were previously in the on-going deals section.

      • http://laura196511@hotmail.com Mary

Cubbison's Croutons just worked like a charm for me. The browser I used was Chrome.

  • mary

Josh – I updated the list with those coupons. Thanks! I don't have the details of the meat coupon either, so I can't answer that for you.

  • mary

Christina – It printed for me after I went through the whole registration process and entered my information if you haven't done that yet.

  • mary

    Thank you!

  • mary

They must have changed the value. Bummer! Thanks for noting this.

  • Angie

Is it true that Rainbow Foods is having a 48 hour sale today and tomorrow?

    • maria

Yes my store has a special flyer posted on the website.

    • Chelle

My Pick N Save is. Nothing too amazing. It's on their website under ads.

    • Aga

I just got 8oz shredded and chunk cheese (crystal farm) as part of that sale- I thought that was a nice buy.

      • Aga

For $1.50/8 oz, sorry, I missed including the price in that!

  • Jana

The harvestland chicken from the roundys coupon book was $11.99 at our copps store (regular price). It is in the frozen section and is for 2.25 lbs.

  • RaeAnn

The Goody hair coupon is only good at Target.

    • mary

      Thanks, RaeAnn!

  • zoe

Ibotta is only good for Pick n Save now, but there is a way to vote for stores that you want to be added. You have to go thru the help to find it. Maybe if enough of us do it they will put Rainbow on.

  • Kate

Can both my husband and I each have $25 purchases and double 10 coupons using our household roundy's card or is it double 10 coupons per household? I read the coupon policy and it didn't say per household. It says per $25 transaction. I am not looking to abuse this and do a bunch of $25 transactions- I just want my husband to be able to double as well.

  • AsUntoTheLord

You can do up to 7 transactions per card. Depending on your store there maybe issues of line management, in which case they may only allow you to do 2 transactions in one trip through the line. If you had more than 2, you just have to get vack in the line again. Usually folks just go out to put the stuff they bought in their car and come back in for the next 2, and so forth. I believe each store has the right to limit it beyond this, but I don't know of any that do.

NOTE: This only applies to the double (5)/double-double (10) and NOT the unlimited, which IS limited to 1 per card.

  • anne

went to pick n save this morning to get jello four packs and use the dollar coupons i had.

to my suprise, they were on stock up sale, if you bought more than 2 they were on sale for 2.00 each. so i did 2 seperate orders and got 20 jello packs for free. in the ad it was a coupon for 1.98 limit 1 so this sale did take me by suprise.

    • See

Are you using the $1/2 coupon on the Jello? I am cusious how are you getting them for free?

      • anne

the coupons i ordered were $1.00 off 1 jello product.

  • SarahBB

I appreciate it Laura– I have 4 cats so I have stocked up on these coupons , and this info was very helpful!

  • Chelle

According to some databases there was a $1/1 in the 1-13 SS. Not in mine (Post Crescent). Other had $1/2 or $0.80/2. HTH

  • Amanda

    FYI, Mott's coupon isn't doubling.

    • Christina

Found this out the hard way. Then my cashier pointed out that it actually does say "do not double". Bummer.

  • Sarah Burrill

No surprise RB was all out of Purina One Beyond, I checked Walmart they don't even carry it, however, they would've honored my 15 coupons in one transaction as they don't have a limit, so that was good to know!

I'm curious where these prices come from because neither of these items are in the weekly ad and I just got back from Rainbow and the Dole Frozen fruit Cups were on price cut for $2.38 and the Dinty Moore Beaf Stew cost $2.82

    • SarahBB

My local RB, Eagan, often does not have the same pricing as the weekly flyer ) :

      • Christina

If a deal is in the Rainbow flyer, don't all Rainbow's have to honor it? I would talk to a manager about that.

    • Christina

I also noticed that the dole fruit cup I bought rang up for 2.38.
