Science Museum of Minnesota’s Girls and Science Event
Saturday, 10/13 marks the Science Museum of Minnesota‘s 10th annual Girls and Science event. From 10am-4pm, girls can take advantage of programs and activities throughout the building, each designed to introduce girls to aeronautics, health sciences, robotics, meteorology and more.

The activities are all free with Museum admission (regularly $13 for adults and $10 for kids), but Fox 9 offers an incredible coupon for up to four free child admissions with a paid adult admission(Thanks, Thrifty Minnesota!)

IKEA Free Kids’ Activities and Free Frozen Yogurt for Teachers
IKEA in Bloomington knows that your kids don’t have school late next week, so they’ve planned a couple of free extras. Wednesday through Friday (10/17-10/19), IKEA will host free kids’ activities in the Restaurant at 1:30pm. Also, teachers can show an educator’s ID to receive a free frozen yogurt in the Bistro from 10/18 through 10/21.

Free Educator’s Evening at MIA
Thursday, 10/18, Minneapolis Institute of Arts hosts a free Educator’s Evening from 4-8pm. A special “Teacher’s Lounge” will offer free refreshments, door prizes, and curator and educator talks, plus teachers will receive a free pass to visit “China’s Terracotta Warriors: The First Emperor’s Legacy.”

Even better, the event takes place during the museum’s Third Thursday event, with live music, a cash bar, and activities. Call or go online to pre-register for this free event.

Halloween Costume Swaps
Trade last year’s child’s Halloween costume for a new-to-you one at this year’s Macaroni Kid Halloween Costume Swap. Drop off your used costume at one of the designated drop-off sites in Anoka, Blaine, Fridley or Maple Grove, then attend the Swap in Anoka on Saturday, 10/13 to choose your “new” costume. This is a great way to grab a costume for your little trick-or-treaters, and it’s free to participate. (Thanks, Michelle!)

If you can’t make that swap, Totally Kids in Bloomington is also hosting a Hallow-Green Costume Exchange from 1-3pm on Saturday, 10/13. Donate your gently used costume and swap for a different one, plus enjoy refreshments and spooky treats.
