Target Shopping List 10/28 – 11/3/12

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

As you get started shopping at Target we’d recommend getting familiar with Target’s price matching policy and Target’s coupon policy. You may want to bring printouts of these with you to the store so that you have them in case you run into issues. If you are new to Pocket Your Dollars, learn how to read this shopping list or troubleshoot problems when printing coupons.

Remember that this is a starting list of deals for the week. As readers leave comments with bargains they found at their local store or we get emails with deal ideas, we will update this list. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

Target fanatics should check out the ever-changing supply of Target online coupons, be sure to sign up for Target’s text-messaged coupons and browse Target’s weekly ad online. Plus, if you have a Target card, you can get 5% off your total bill when you use the card to pay.

Your turn: What other great deals did you spot?

Are the following really 10 cents??

Brummel & Brown Vegetable Oil and Yogurt Spread (15 oz. tub) $0.10 (price cut through 11/10) (not available at all stores)

    • JoAnna says

Last wk I saw a post on Hip2 Save about this deal. Some found it and some didn't. Hope to find it at my store :)

    • kris t, says

Yep – but stores are really hit and miss. Some places have it for .10, others are full price, I think $2.59 or something?

Buy 2 Participating P&G Products, Get Free $5 Target Gift Card

The deals listed below assume you are buying two of the same product; however, you can mix and match the products as you wish to earn the $5 gift card.

I just wanted to make PYD readers aware that according to the Forest Lake Target you MUST BUY TWO OF THE SAME ITEM to get the $5.00 gift card. I purchased the Iams Dog Food and the Bounty Paper Towels but the gift card did not generate. The cashier was being nice and after I had pointed that out to her in the ad she was going to give my the gift card. A customer service person came over to the register and stated that the ad was misleading and that you had to buy two of the same item to get the gift card. I returned the items, got my coupons and left.

I ask everyone, how often do you go to Target with your coupons, or to get a special they have advertised, and things just don't work out the way they should? For me it happens more often than not and at this point I will never shop Target again. Saving a couple of dollars isn't worth this sort of hassle, their customer service people really aren't that at all and their corporate office is quite unresponsive.

It's no wonder Walmart is beating Target in their home market. Lower prices on most items and you don't have to jack around with the buy this get that stuff. Too bad, I'd be all for giving up Walmart and shoping Target exclusively if they could figure it out.

    • Amber says

That's weird! Did you talk to a manager? I look at this week's ad and it does say "when you buy any two items". In previous deals where you had to buy the same brand to get the sale, for instance toy deals, it said "must be of same brand" in parenthesis.

If you didn't talk to a manager, I would go back or call the store and speak to one :-)

      • Teri says

        Amber & Jackie,

Because it was so late and I was in a hurry I didn't have a chance to talk to a "manager" but I believe she was either a supervisor or "manager on duty" at the time. I will be contacting the store today and I'll let you know for sure.

      • Lauren says

I used this same promotion, buying 4 different items (puffs, charmin, downy and bounty) and recieved 2 $5 gift cards. The register automatically told the cashier to give them to me once two items were rang in.

I did notice it was only specially marked products – for example, not all of the types of bounty paper towels that were on sale were part of that promotion.

    • Jackie says

I agree with Amber. I would push this one as far as I could as I believe that the answer you got today was not correct!

    • Lauren says

I had an unfortunate incident at Target a couple weeks ago over a simple "$1 off a bag of grapes" Target coupon. The system would not let the cashier accept the coupon and I was told "you must have used this coupon already". I replied, "no I didn't" but the cashier pretended like she didn't hear me. Since there were people in line behind me I paid for the transaction and went straight to the customer service desk. The lady at the service desk said the same exact thing…"you must have used a coupon that already discounted this item"…and again I replied "no I didn't, look at my receipt." This lady and I went back and forth for a few minutes and finally she basically threw a dollar bill at me and asked to help the next customer.

I left embarrassed and frustrated. I was made to feel like a thief just for trying to use a coupon that Target had mailed to me! I sent an email to Target corporate almost 2 weeks ago and have heard nothing in return.

      • Teri says

These are exactly the types of incidents I am talking about. As long as you are abiding by the "rules" you should never have to argue with someone over $1 and no one should ever be made to feel like a thief. I hear your frustration about corporate too. Getting contacted by them is his or miss. I wish you luck.

  3. Lauren says

Purina Beggin strips are on sale 2/$5 this week. I used the BOGO MQ from 10/14 Smart Source insert, a 75 cent off printable target Q coupon plus another $1 of target Q I got in the mail. After recieving the full available credit (3.75) for the BOGO Q, I made 50 cents!

  4. Tina Q says

I think it must depend on the Target. I only use the Minnetonka target or the Waconia target and they are wonderful there! Everyone there certainly follows the motto "the customer is always right." They always blame the computer, not the customer and push the coupons through. I love my Targets!

  5. Jennifer says

I had a great deal at Target tonight. I had found a $5/1 Gillette Proglide power razor coupon in my Sunday's paper and had bought two papers so I had two of those stacked with two $5/1 target coupons on the men's razor sale and only paid tax of $0.38 plus I still got the $5 gift card that was part of the bargain. The cashier even looked shocked when it went from $24.78 down to $0.38.

  7. Josh says

Teri I'm sorry you had a bad experience but when you brought up Walmart I had to laugh.

I've ran into WAY MORE problems at Walmart then I ever have at Target and I shop at Target every week and Walmart only once a month at best. Plus Target stores are generally cleaner and there is way more employees stocking shelves and walking the floor if you need assistance finding an item then Walmart.

Both stores are still far better than KaMe apART though! LOL

  8. Susan says

There are many, many times when I am frustrated with the deals and when going to Target coupons to print that particular coupon and after looking at several categories (for example, looking for the Method coupon), I cannot find it. Takes way more time than the $1 coupon is worth, but I keep getting suckered into it. Anyone else have this same like experience?

I also have the frequent experience of going to Target (Maple Grove) with list in hand, coupons ready to go, only to search the shelf and the listed item/sale price is not the same in the store. That is frustrating to me in that it is a waste of time in many ways. Nevertheless, I shrug it off thinking that perhaps this store does indeed not have this particular item and know that perhaps I will see it again (and I'll be suckered in once more!).

  9. Susan says

While I appreciate knowing which category to check for a certain coupon (i.e.,: Method under beauty), t hat coupon is still not there. Is anyone else having this issue? Happens all the time to me…

    • JoAnna says

I understand your frustration as it happens to me, too but Target coupons (and most printable coupons) go fast! There are only a limited # of prints available and unfortunately you may miss out if you do not print as soon as the coupon is available.

  10. Nicole says

Yeah I tried at the Otsego Target the other day. There was no sign saying you'd get a gift card, so I brought it to a self scanner and it also didn't say anything. So JUST in case I brought 3 up to the register to have the cashier scan, and nope no giftcard. So I just bought the one that I did need regardless, was just hoping to get that awesome deal.

  12. Kristen says

Will it work for the razor deal to use 2 $5/1 TQ's and 2 $4/1 MQ's? That means your out of pocket would only be $1.78…will this still trigger the $5 Target gift card? Thanks!

  13. Mickey says

Target in Forest Lake is awful when it comes to using coupons. I don't go there anymore because they make you feel like your a criminal. I swear they have people walking around watch people with their coupons & then attack you at the checkout.

  14. sarah says

It does-I just did that deal and it worked fine. Boy though I always rack up the razors and never the blades-does seem a bit wasteful to essentially use them like a disposable.

  15. says

Susan – I hear your frustration and assure you that we are not trying to "sucker in" anyone. We do our best to keep the lists updated throughout the week and remove coupons/deals from the list as soon as readers report that a coupon is out of prints.

As for not being able to find the items at your store, Target stores vary nationwide in the price cuts, special deals and even regular prices that they offer. We try to list the highest price found wherever possible and (once again) ask our readers to let us know when they find an item at a higher price so we can update the list accordingly.

The list is a conglomeration of deals found nationwide, not just at once particular store, in hopes that all of our readers can find some value in the list and not just readers at a particular store/geographic area. I hope this helps explain why the deals listed here don't exactly match the deals at your store.

I want you and everyone at PYD to know how much I appreciate all of the work that you guys do! Yes, there are times when my store doesn't have particular items at the price that you have listed; however, I still GREATLY appreciate the lists! The number of items that I am able to find at the price you list in the shopping list greatly outnumbers the items that I can't find at my location at the price PYD lists! Yes, it is frustrating when I have spent time clipping coupons for that particular item; however, I spent less time clipping those few coupons than I would have going to the store and making my own list!

I have saved so much money over the last year because of PYD! My household could not be more grateful for all of the work that you do!

Regarding the Hallmark cards and Q's….can someone tell me if they've gotten these at Target, and if so-are they under a different name (on the back of the card). I've searched high and low in the card dept a few different times and can not find anything that says Hallmark on them. What am I missing? Thanks! Ps-thanks PYD and readers for all your help on this site!

  17. Nicole says

I guess I read the coupon incorrectly (and I read it about 4 times, because there is so much wording on it). I bought 2 razors and used (2) $5 target coupon and (2) $4 manufacturer ones. I got both razors for $1.78 total (or .89 each) than recieved the $5 gift card. The cashier even read the coupon before she ever scanned it. (I only had the razors so when I handed her 4 coupons she was just reading them first). She agreed with it being for just 1 razor, and went ahead and scanned them all. Nothing popped up saying it was incorrect. If I remember correctly (w/out having to open the pkg) my husband uses this exact razor (which is why I purchased it) and it has a "styler" attached to it.

  18. Kae says

I did the Flintstones last week. It is the chewable – not gummie. It did not show up on the scanner – but did trigger a gift card. Have the bottles first on your order – if it doesn't trigger it – then have them removed.

    • JoAnna says

The chewable Flinstones vitamins were signed with the gift card deal at the Eden Prairie Target. They are $5.99/box as opposed to the $5.04 stated on the list but they had bonus boxes so they were 75 count as opposed to 60 count.

  19. JoAnna says

The Reynolds slow cooker liners are normally 4 ct pkgs–Eden Prairie Target had 6 ct bonus size boxes for $1.97 ($0.97 after coupon).

  20. Mel says

I haven't seen a Hallmark Card in a Target in the Twin Cities in forever. While they do have some subsidiaries (like Crayola) I'm not aware of any other brand they label greeting cards under.
