Did you know that many baby/toddler products have expiration dates? (Car seats are the first that come to mind for me.) Friends and family members often pass down items like car seats, high chairs and cribs, but it’s recommended that many of these products (cribs and car seats especially) not be handed down or resold due to wear and tear from everyday use and/or accidents, not to mention ever-increasing and changing safety regulations.
Babies R Us and Toys R Us are both offering a trade-in event where you can get 25% off any new car seat, stroller, travel system, high chair, play yard, bassinet, walker, infant swing, bouncer, entertainer, crib or kid’s bed (from participating brands) when you bring in any of these used items from any select manufacturers. Plus, this time around, six select items qualify for a higher discount of 30%.
There is no limit to the number of items you can trade-in, and the items that you trade-in and purchase can be from different categories. You must use the 25% off or 30% off coupon on the same day as your trade-in, so be prepared to shop when you bring in your used items. This event runs through Monday, February 20.
You do not need a receipt to trade-in a used item, and the item does not need to have been purchased at a Babies R Us or Toys R Us store. You can bring back multiple items and receive one 25% discount for each item traded in (but only one discount may be applied per each new item purchased).

I have done this and my only advice is that all items nonlinear are not available in store. I would suggest calling around or going in store first before deciding if the trade in will work.
The 25% cannot be combined with any sale prices. I thought it was a great deal getting a toddler bed on sale +25% off, but they wouldn’t let me, its either sale price, or the 25%.
Does anyone know how often they do this? Thanks!
Amber – We last saw them do this back in September, so my guess is twice a year (it had been once a year before that).
I have an older car seat that I would be willing to give away if someone wanted to use it as a trade in. You would need to pick it up in downtown St Paul next Tues-Fr.
Tammy- if it is still available I would love your old carseat to trade in. We are in the market for a new infant carrier for our little one due in May. If still available, could you email me at monicamalo07 @ gmail {dot} com? Thanks so much for offering this.
