Rainbow Foods, Copps, Pick N Save Shopping List 1/2 – 1/7/12

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

If you are new to shopping Double Daze, be sure to read Roundy’s (Rainbow Foods, Copps, and Pick N Save’s) double coupon policy before you get started to understand all the restrictions of their double coupon promotion.

If you shop at Copps and your ad doesn’t match the items mentioned in this shopping list, then check out what we saw for sales last week.

Two things to remember about this list of deals. First, it does not include every sale-priced item that has a coupon. It only has those items whose final price is low enough for us to mention it. Second, it is a starting list: as we learn of more deals whose final price is low enough, we will update this list. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

Have you looked for a generic brand that is less? My daughter loves those but I won't pay that much unless it is a special occasion (extra long road trip). Though some generics aren't as good but worth a try once :)

  1. brandi says

Buy 8 slim fast $5 each equals $40. Use 4 bogo coupon (dont remember which insert since I already cut it out) spend $20 get$10 coupon when you use your savings card

  2. Jennifer says

    Nivea Lip Care $2.00

Buy 1 and use $1/1 Nivea Lip Care product printable or $1/1 Nivea Lip Care product printable (Facebook offer) or

Buy 2 and use $3/2 from 1/1 Red Plum insert

Final price: As low as free after doubled coupon

I don't see the coupon on coupons.com. What zip code did you guys use to get it. I cannot print the facebook one since I printed the last time (and I ended up giving them to my sister).

  3. Jennifer says

    McCain Potatoes $2.50

Use $1/1 McCain product printable (Facebook offer)

Final price: $0.50 after doubled coupon

I think the coupon is gone. There was a woman there asking where is the coupon 8 hours ago.

  4. steve says

Can someone help me out? I am wondering if Copps' policy to double up to $1……does this mean a coupon for $2 will double to $3? or $1.10 to $2? Or will these just not double at all? I have always wondered but have never asked or tried.

    Thanks for the help!!

    • says

Steve- If a store says they will double a coupon up to a dollar amount, that is the highest face value on a coupon that they will double.

For example, in the case you mentioned they double coupons up to a dollar. This means that any coupon that says $1.00 off now becomes $2.00 off. But a coupon that says $1.10 off will still only be $1.10 and a coupon that says $2.00 off will still only be $2.00 off. Hope that helps! :)

  5. Sue says

There is a coupon in 10/30 RP for $1/36 cans of Friskies catfood. If you buy 40 cans and combine with the Nestle offer below, it is $20 – $2 (doubled coupon) – $5 next order = $13 = 32.5 cents per can.

"Buy $20 in Participating Nestle Products, Get $5 Off a Future Purchase

Participating products and available coupons include: Purina Friskies Canned Cat Food $0.50"

  6. Clarissa says

Where is the Gorton’s Grilled Fish Fillets on sale at? They are not on sale or I am just not seeing them at Copps in Madison, WI

    • Chelle says

      Gorton's Grilled Tilapia Roasted Garlic & Butter 2 Ct Fish Fillets – 2 fillets [6.3 oz (179 g)] $4.59

Gorton's Grilled Garlic Butter 2 Ct Fish Fillets – 7.6 Oz Box $3.69

Gorton's Grilled Lemon Pepper 2 Ct Fish Fillets – 7.6 Oz Box $3.69

      Gorton's Classic Grilled 2 Ct – 6.3 Oz Box $4.59

Got this from the McFarland page. Doesn't appear to be on sale. Only sale items I saw were for $5.99 items. Not sure since I'm up in Appleton area, but HTH. I don't see a page in the McFarland ad that looks like the one in mine. It's a little flap on the front page that shows the Gorton's near the bottom. And it looks like the breaded fillets are $1 more than our sale price of $3.99.

  7. Shelly says

Just a note that the POM price is REALLY good; this is the time I love to buy it. At the West End Rainbow, the normal price is about $5, so to get it for 50 cents is so great!

    • Alex says

I've noticed a few sales for POM juices over the past months, and once it was even free after coupons–does anything know if this sale is a regular sort of thing or how often it comes around?

      • Drew says

I've got 4 bottles in the fridge currently from the deals/coupons over the last few weeks. I use it as a flavor enhancer so a botte lasts a long time.

I think we've seen the deals several times over the past year.

  8. alesha says

Has anyone been to the store to find out what Lean Cuisines are included in the 20.00 deal get 5.00? The ad says only the Market Collection?

    • Jodi M. says

I am going early(ish) tomorrow, which my daughter is in school, and am going to try it (becausse $1 each is a pretty good price anyway. If they're included you could get 15 and reach the $20 threshold ($21 if you figure them at $1.40 each). Which would make it $21-$6 in Q's -$5= $10 for 15 = 67 cents each. (I think.).

Does it say how many times we can do this per card?

    • Therese S. says

Saw the 50% off deal last Wednesday and bought a cart full that filled up my chest freezer…bummer, should have waited a week, but didn't know how long the 50% off would last.

      Great deal!!!

  9. says

I was able to get the rice-a-roni deal. I didn't get the same message others did until I tried printing the coupon a 3rd time. (It let me print it twice, I just clicked on the coupon link on their FB page again and it brought me to the "get your coupon" link again)

My husband was also able to print it twice via his FB account. For some reason I couldn't print using Firefox on my computer but my husband could on his. So if you've never printed off their FB coupon before and you are getting the error messages, try using a different browser to print.

  10. Jodi M. says

I think in this week's ad it said that some Lunchables were on sale for $1 this week. (In case you are a couple dollars short of your $25 and have a kid–or somebody else in your house–who loves these.)

Also, not sure if my comment is being moderated or I just made a mistake, but in reply to alesha, it says in the ad that "Culinary Collection and Simple Favorites Varieties 6-12 ozs" are participating products. I'm going to try the deal tomorrow if some $1.40 ones are included. HTH.

  11. andy says

for the general mills fruit snack does anybody know what brand that is and if they have any coupons for them just curious

    • Melissa says

The Betty Crocker fuit snacks will be the ones included in the GM deal and I'm don't think there are any coupons out there. My store has .50/2 peelies on their fruit snacks.

Does anyone know if it is the General Mills cereal deals that take off the 3.25 for the value of the milk no matter what the price of milk (even if it is less than the 3.25)? I know that either the Kellogg cereal deals or the GM cereal deals take off the full milk coupon value regardless of the actual price of milk, but I can't remember which one does.

  12. Kelsey says

I wonder if I my 1/1 SS inserts are not the right ones? I got 2 of them, but I don't see…

Mentos Up2U $1/1, or the Lean Cuisine $1/5.

    • scat says

kelsey, — not all the smart source had the lean cuisine MQ, One of my coworkers who live in the white bear area gives me her inserts and the smart source inserts had some differences. Manufacturers do that sometimes because they want to test market particular areas.

    • Jennifer says

You must have got the St Paul paper. The coupons in the St Paul paper is usually fewer than the Star Tribune paper.

      • scat says

Jennifer — I get both the st. paul and mpls papers delivered and the lean cuisine mq was in both. Sometimes st paul has coupons that mpls does not. Those decisions are made by the manufacturers depending on thier marketing plan. When a complete insert is missing, that is usually the result of something going on at the paper assembly point. I have gotten papers that contained up to six of the same insert.

    • andy says

i live in the U.P. of michigan and the papers i get have as many as 3 different ss inserts, and usually they dont have the 2 or 3 coupons i seem to b looking for lol but i still spend about 20 to 25 dollars a week on the paper to get multiple inserts my advice is to actually compare them at the store u buy them from

      • Drew says

"i still spend about 20 to 25 dollars a week on the paper to get multiple inserts"

Wait, you SPEND $25 per week to get the coupon inserts?

So you'd need to double at least 5 transactions a week just to breakeven? How many transactions do you run in a week, is it really worth it?

        • Jodi says

Actually it would take 2-3 double trans to break even (taking $20-30 off your grocery bill), beyond that will be a profit.

  13. scat says

Alesha — the ad has a whole page of items that are included in the $20 deal, including pizza, coffemate, juicy juice, etc. It's not just lean cuisine but it seems to include most ofthe lean cuisine products. Shouldn't be too hard to come up with a $20 list.

  14. Betsy says

I checked the shelf prices tonight for Lean Cuisine:

    $2.79 (Simple Favorites)

$3.62 (Culinary Collection & Spa Collection)

This should help figuring out the $20.00 threshold.

  15. Kelsey says

Thanks! You are right, I do get the St Paul Paper. Maybe I will have my Mom start to save hers from the Star Tribune for me, she doen't use them anyway.

  16. Kam says

Wondering if I could get a little help… I need to buy at least 12 crescent roll tubes and 8 bricks of cream cheese. Does anyone know how much they are at Rainbow right now? I'm trying to figure if costco or rainbow would be the best price with out driving to both tomorrow with my daughter! Thank you :)

    • Crystal says

I saw that the multigrain cherrios 9 oz was part of it for sure. Bettycrocker.com had a 1$/1 coupon for that one. I didn't look at any of the other kinds though sorry.

  17. says

Clarissa – When does your ad start? We've found that many (if not all) Copps stores have a Wednesday-Tuesday sales cycle, so the matchups you're seeing here might not start until today (Wednesday).

  18. Jodi M. says

With the Nivea Lip Care, you can use 3 of $3/2 Q, spend $3, reach the $10 threshold, get 6 for free after $3 back

  19. Kris E says

I haven't checked this deal out yet, but there's a $1/2 Buitoni dinner for 2 pasta coupon on the Buitoni site. If you bought 8, used 4 coupons, they'd come to $1.38 per. Of course there are other scenerio's for the $5/$20 Nestle deal… just thought I'd post this info. The deal runs through next Wednesday.

I know Rainbow doesn't accept printable coupons for free items, but do they accept printable BOGO coupons? If so, there's a skinny cow BOGO coupon on the candy available. I see alot on the Nestle deal list that I believe do have recent printable coupons to match up with, just haven't done all my homework yet since the deal doesn't expire this week.

  20. Jodi M. says

Just noticed the Boost coupons. If you buy 3 packs you can reach the $20 threshold ($20.97) -$9 in Q's , $11.97 OOP -$5 off next purchase, $6.97, which puts it at approx 39 cents per drink. Not at good at the 31 cents per drink for the Slim-Fast deal, but still a good deal.

Also, just in case you plan on using more than one of the Wholly Guac Q's (I am.) they say 1 per transaction.

  21. jmd says

Did anyone in St Paul get the Excedrin coupons in the 12/4 SS insert. I have several copies, and can't find them.

  22. Jodi says

Just got out of Rainbow. I was able to do both the 15 Lean Cuisines and the 3 Boosts deals in different transactions w/the same roundy's card and got $5 Catalinas w/each. However, I couldn't use both as Q's at the same time (computer wouldn't let me) in my next transaction. I was able to use the 2nd $5 one w/the $10 one from the slim fast deal.

    Hope that made sense!

  23. Melissa says

With the slim fast deal, if you buy 8 4 packs @ 5.00 each you can use the BOGO coupon found in the SS insert and stack (2) $1/1 slim fast printable coupons found on couponspounge.com along with (2) .95/1 slim fast making each bottle .07 for each bottle or .28 for a 4 pack. All said and done after the $10.00 register printer out you are paying $2.20 for 8 4 packs. :) Did this deal twice today. Oh and that is after my coupons doubled.

    • Jessica says

this deal did not work for me unfortunately. the attenandt told me that i could not use the b1g1 coupons and get the 10$ print out because i would only technically have 20$ in items and would need to buy another 20$ in slim fast items in order to reach the 40$ threshold.she told me that other people were trying it this morning and that it had to be that way, needless to say i was throughly bummed..

  24. says

These types of deals are never calculated by shelf price. Some work out to be before coupons, some after. I just checked the ad and it does not say anything about needing to be after coupons, so I'm assuming that the $20 is calculated before coupons are applied.

  25. Sarah says

The 32 oz container of Yoplait rings up as $1.99 (although the shelf price shows $3.12. So with the 60c off printable it comes to 80c.

  26. Christina says

I was at the EP Rainbow today and they had a lot of Nestle Christmas cookie dough that rang up for $1 (it was only marked 50% off but rang up for $1). They also had 50% off quite a few flavors of creamer (international delight and coffemate.)

One other interesting thing is that they started a new raincheck system. I think it's similar to Target's rainchecks where they just have to scan a barcode on the raincheck. Also it's good for a month.

  27. Shelly says

A lot of the 1/2 gallon Silk Soy & Almond millks have a $1 off coupon peelie on them. It doubled and brought it to $1.88; I like getting it for $1, but I'm almost out and that's a decent price on a 1/2 gallon.

  28. Amanda says

international delight coffee creamer holiday flavors were on clerance for 1.08 (original 2.12). There was a $1/1 (sorry, don't know which insert), making it a .92MM if you double it

  29. says

My Pick N Save has the Downy Unstoppables for $2/10 If you use (2) of the $1 off Coupons from the 1-1-12 P&G and go today on a doubling day, these will be 2/$6 or $3 each! Great price for these! Thanks, Carly from Crazy Coupon Carls! :)

  30. Kay says

There is a $2 off Excedrin Extra Strength coupon on coupons dot com or in Swagbucks coupons if you don't have the ones from the inserts.

  31. wtfci says

I'm pretty sure it says 1 coupon per item. I think it also says limit of 4 of the same coupon in the same transaction.

  32. wtfci says

I had a similar problem. I went to the customer service counter at the St. Louis Park Rainbow. The two managers on duty could not determine if the $40 price is before or after coupons. Because it did not specify they agreed that because the shelf price adds up to $40 that I should receive the $10 back on my next transaction.

I offered to purchase another 8 of the 4 packs if necessary. They said that would not be necessary. They just gave me $10 cash back.

    • melissa says

It should be before coupons and BOGO. You have to think you are walking out with 8 4 packs, and the store is sending in those coupons for 8 products. I did this deal 4 times already at my Pick n Save with no questions asked.

  33. Jodi M. says

My cashier and I didn't discuss it when we were checking out, and it automatically printed. What would they have done when it printed? Tear it up? That's weird. It's the company that is reimbursing for those Q's, so I don't see why Rainbow would care. Sorry you didn't have better luck! Possibly try a different location?

Also, I don't think you have to buy the Slim-Fasts all in one trans, so you could just buy these over a number of visits w/your same Roundy's card, it will add up, and the catalina will print. The final cashier will have no idea how many you've previously purchased.

  34. Michelle says

    Hi Clarissa,

I live in Madison and the sales cycle runs Thursday-Wednesday. The sales are usually very similar or identical to the other Pick 'n Save/Rainbow deals which run the previous Sunday-Saturday including the ones featured on PYD. For example this ad runs 1/2/12-1/7/12 and their double coupon day is 1/4/12 our equivalent ad starts 1/6-1/11 and our double coupon day is 1/11/12. It's actually really convenient once you get the hang of it, because we have a nice preview of our sales and can get our coupons together a week ahead of time :) Hope that helps.

PS. If you are confused I'd recommend checking out the blog "operation40k dot blogspot dot com". She's on the same ad week and links you to the correct weeks ad on this site.
