Spend $19.99 for $175 Worth of Restaurant.com Gift Cards (Exp 12/4)

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

Through tomorrow (12/4), you can get $175 worth of Restaurant.com plastic gift cards for $19.99. You’ll receive a $100, $50 and $25 plastic gift card via postal mail when you purchase this deal.

To find this offer, go to Restaurant.com, then scroll down to the “Specials” bar and click the blue “Buy Now” button. There is a limit of 10 offers per person, and all 3 gift cards will be delivered in a single package to the shipping address provided at checkout.

Your recipients (or you yourself) will be able to redeem these plastic gift cards online for a restaurant-specific certificate found at TheIdealMeal.com (seems to be every participating Restaurant.com eating establishment, but a different portal in). You cannot use the plastic gift card itself at a restaurant. Please note that the $25, $50 or $100 does have a minimum purchase requirement along with it which varies according to the value of the gift card.

On that same “Specials” page, you’ll also find an offer for three $10 Subway cards plus three $25 Restaurant.com eGift Cards for $35.95 total.

Your turn: Have you ever given or received a Restaurant.com gift card? What did you and/or the recipient think of the gift?

This is obviously a scam, so why promote it?

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Bob – What do you mean? Are you wondering why they would sell gift cards at less than cost? They used to do that regularly, but about a year ago quit that practice. Normally a $50 gift card sells for $20, but obviously this discount is even greater. The restaurants that advertise on Restaurant.com must be paying a fee to be placed there, which is how they make money, so that they can afford to discount the coupons themselves in the form of discounted gift cards.

    • Dealwagger says:

You must be new, welcome. You will find that this site has a strong ethical stance and the contributors, including our wonderful Carrie Rocha, post legitimate deals that they have researched. They go through a lot of effort to do this and PYDers like me have saved lots of money through this type of offer because of it.

  2. EC says:

I use restaurant.com regularly. I always buy $25 certificates when they go one sale for $1 once a year. There is typically a $35 minimum, so I get a $35 meal for around $11 plus tip. I avoid the $100 ones b/c there is a $200 minimum, but if you have a big meal to buy the discount is awesome.

  3. Melissa says:

Just one tip on any of the restaurant gift certificate sites, groupons, etc. – you need to make sure it is a frequently visisted establishment and hopefully not experiencing financial difficulties. We have missed out on a few that went out of business shortly after we purchased the “deal”. However, we have also done well on others. In my opinion, it’s best to know that you are going to use them soon so you do not miss out or the gift you give is not a dud.

    • Rachel says:

If a restaurant closes before you use your cert, contact customer service and they will credit your account. This has happened to us before!!

  4. amy says:

The special says “Restaurant.com Gift Cards may be redeemed solely for services at http://www.theidealmeal.com” – but I can not get into the restaurant list on this website unless I already have a gift card. I don’t know if I want to get this deal if I don’t know what restaurants I could use these at. Do you know how I can find out what restaurants are involved?
    Thanks!

  5. Sharon says:

Looks legit & would do it, but the one restaurant I checked on restaurants.com doesn’t appear to be available on theidealmeal.com (where the gift card is to redeemed) for selection of a restaurant-specific gift card. Seemed fishy – didn’t purchase.

  6. Sarah says:

I can’t fine the specials tab. Is the deal no longer going?

    • Laura Wales says:

Sarah – Click the “Home” tab on the page you land on from the Restaurant.com link and that will take you to the home page, where you can scroll down and see the “Specials” section.
