Holiday Lights
Holiday lights are all over the Twin Cities, and the Star Tribune published a list of some homes with exceptionally good lights.

For an opportunity to see a lot of lights in one place, Holiday Lights In the Park in St. Paul’s Phalen Park has a drive-through light display. There is a $10 per vehicle charge, but Sunday-Thursday nights each car is $8. Or, purchase a Holiday Lights in the Park CD at Kowalski’s Markets for $10. The CD features holiday songs by Twin Cities artists and includes a pass for the event.

Your turn: Have you attended the Holiday Lights in the Park event? What other events do you know of going on this weekend?

We took our young son to the holiday lights in the park last year. My husband got a free pass as a gift. It’s a fun thing to do with kids. We went on a weekend and it was packed! :)

I called my Cub (in Plymouth on Nathan Ln) to ask about the Kids Party. The first two people had no idea what I was talking about.
Finally i got what I presume was a manager who had to rustle through some papers. He said they had a couple costumes and hand out some candy!?
I asked if that was really it and he said yes.
I’m glad I called, I would have been disappointed if I had taken the kids there tomorrow and thats all it was. Definitely will not be stopping by. Not sure why they even bother putting it in the ad if that is all they are going to do.

I took my 3-yr-old to the Halloween Party at Cub in Bloomington. There was a woman dressed as the Cat in the Hat handing out a bag of treats at the door. That was the entire “party.” Fortunately, my little guy was happy with his treats. We didn’t see any other kids in costumes, but he enjoyed practicing his dinosaur roar on all of the customers. To me it was pretty pointless, but at least he let me shop in peace :)

I am a member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). Every year for the past five years, my union has funded the Holiday Light Show. It is all set up and run by volunteers and the net proceeds go to charities. I encourage all to attend, for your admission goes to a good cause. They are always looking for volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to help, you can contact the IBEW Union Hall at 651-776-4239. Because I volunteered, I got a free admission. I took my two and four year old through it and they loved it!
