Walgreens Shopping List 9/11 – 9/17/11

This content uses referral links. Read our disclosure policy for more info.

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

This week is apparently your week to get cheap or free toothpaste at Walgreens, as there are four different varieties available for $0.99 or less. Plus, get great deals on Playtex tampons, Garnier hair color, Scrubbing Bubbles toilet cleaner and more. Be sure to leave a comment with any other great deals you got that aren’t mentioned in this list.

If you’re new to Walgreens shopping, then learn how the Register Rewards program works and learn how to read this shopping list. Don’t forget that some other stores will accept Register Rewards like a manufacturer’s coupon. Also, it’s a good idea to print out Walgreens’ official coupon policy and keep it with you in case an issue comes up at checkout.

This is a starting list of deals for the week and is not a comprehensive list of every sale item and its coupons, but just the best deals (things at prices I’d actually pay). We will update this list as readers leave comments with bargains they found at their local store, we get emails with deal ideas or we read about other deals across the blogosphere. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week, we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

Walgreens is the one store where an advertised sale like “2/$4” usually requires you to buy two products. The first one rings at full price and the second product will ring at a lesser price to bring the total to $4, using our example. If you ever question whether you need to buy two to receive a sale price, ask the cashier to scan one item for you. If it rings at full price, then you know you need to buy two products. If it rings at the sale price, then you don’t.

Your turn: What other deals did you find this week at Walgreens?

  1. Amy E says

The picture with the ad was Crest Complete…the ad states Crest Deep Clean. Are they the same thing? I got a coupon this morning for $2 off Crest Complete.

  2. Amy E says

JoAnna, I am inclined to believe that all the gazillion different (and more expensive) varieties of toothpaste are just a way for the toothpaste companies to get us to spend more money!

  3. Amy E says

So much for my fabulous $2 off coupons. As I feared, they had none of the Crest Complete/Deep Clean in stock. This was the same toothpaste that was missing in all the stores a couple of weeks ago. Could they be pulling the stock for some reason? This is the only item I have ever had issues with at Walgreens not being in stock.

    • LB says

I would say if this is the only time you have had issues with an item being out of stock at Walgreens, you have been extremely lucky! I have practically given up on them as they are ALWAYS out of things!!!

  4. Erin says

There is a $1/2 Skittles coupon (single serve size) on Target.com (manufacturer coupon)….since Skittles is a Mars product it may be included in the .50 each deal, getting you 2 free!

  5. Theresa says

The huggies have 26 diapers in a pack. That works out to. .15 per diaper. I am not brand sensitive so at that price I would rather get targets diapers and not have to use a register reward.

    • Erin says

Agreed! I can get up & up for .13 per diaper and we have had great luck with those. I did try the Huggies Slip-ons, and although I like the concept, they seem really flimsy to me, not a fan of those.

    • Kelly says

Oh, we've loved these diapers. I tried them because of the coupons and stocked up because they worked so well for us. My daughter is a little over 2 so we're hoping they lead into potty training.

  6. holly says

Hopefully I am reading my add correctly and doing the math right for that matter, but at Target this week they have the Colgate Optic White toothpaste on sale for $2.99 (4 oz) and there is a $1/1 Colgate Optic White oral care item, when paired with the SS (9/11) $1.50 off it is only $0.49 out of pocket.

  7. JoAnna says

Chex Mix, Bugles, Gardetto’s, Lay’s Stax, Cracker Jack or Rice Krispies Treats Big Bar $0.99

Buy 1 and use $0.50/1 Bugles from 7/10 Smart Source insert

This coupon expired 9/3 according to my inserts. Anyone find something different?

  8. Rachel M says

And if you live in the Monticello, MN area our flyer had a $3 off a $10common purchase valid only at the Motnicello store for the Grand Opening of the new store

  9. Ann says

I think there was another chex coupon on the target website. It had an October expiration date. Not sure if its still out there.

  10. says

I don't have the $10 off 3 gas-x coupon in my 7/17 SS insert. Did we not get that coupon in the twin cities area? There is only a $1 off 1 coupon.

  11. Alesha H says

The Waconia Walgreens would not let me use a .50/1 huggies wipes coupon and the infant care book coupon stating that the infant care book coupon is a manufacture coupon! Boo…that stunk. They can be very picky about their coupons!

  12. Amy E says

TJ…the coupon was in the coupon inserts that are delivered to our house every Saturday along with local sales flyers. I believe they are the sames ones that are in the paper on Sunday. Everyone in the neighborhood gets one. It's what started me on this whole coupon madness! :-)

  13. Rebecca says

Amy, the first Walgreens I went to (in SE WI) did not have the toothpaste, but the second one I went to had several tubes. The $2 coupons did work, so I paid $1 out of pocket for the toothpaste, and got a $3 RR in return. SWEET!

  14. Rebecca says

TJ, it is in one of the 9/11 Smart Source inserts. In the thicker of the two. Full page add for Crest complete, Scope, Oral B toothbrush, or Oral B floss. Worked no problem in my store.

  15. Rebecca says

For the P&G deal, I bought four boxes of Cascade powder and four of the Tide Stain Release (which I've never used before). I used four $1 coupons for the Cascade, and two $1.50/2 coupons for the Tide. Cost: $32. Minus $7 in coupons & $10 RR = 8 items for $15.

  16. Jessica says

They have Aveeno face cleansers on sale buy on get one half off (they are priced at 7.99). With the 3 dollars off of two coupon that brings it to 9.00 or 4.50 each. Is this the best deal we will see on these Aveeno items or should I wait to stock up?

    • Sara says

I am brand loyal to Aveeno face cleansers. The best prices I have found since I have started couponing in July is right around $5. So given this brand I think it is a decent price. I plan on buying.

  17. Amy E says

I am in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Tx area. We don't receive the coupons in the mail. They are delivered paper-style in a plastic bag on the driveway/yard.

  18. angela says

We love them and are hoping for the same thing with my son (almost 2). We call them his "grown-up" underwear.

I hope your plan works for you too, Kelly! :)

  19. Cassie says

That is too bad, but they should have let you. For whatever reason, some of the walgreens coupons ring up as a manufacturer coupon even though they are not. I heard from a post on PYD is that they are changing that in Oct so that we wont have that problem anymore. Try having them scan your manufacturer coupon first, then scan or put the code in from the infant care booklet. Its seems to work for me that way.

  20. Amy says

If I get two tubes of the Optic White toothpaste will I get 2, $2 Register Rewards? I've never done the RR deals before. Thank you

  21. Tina says

Anyone else having a problem with the airwick freshmatic cool linen and white lilac ringing up for $15.99 instead of $7.99 plus not printing the $3 register reward!!!

  22. Missouri Nicholas says

Do not miss out on the 1.00 off 2 skittles coupons at target. They are manufacturer's coupons and will make the skittles free… when they are 2 for $1.00 (MARS).

  23. jackie says

You can get a little bit of a better deal on the dawn dish liquid if you buy the dawn hand renewal dish soap (also included in the sale). There is a .75 off coupon located in the 8/28 p&G insert. It comes to $0.25.

  24. Jessica says

Thank you so much, I got ten coupons, I am going to go stock up. I have struggled with acne since I was a teenager, nothing too horrible, but can never get my face fully clear. I have had more clear days than not for the first time with Aveeno and am looking forward to not having to pay full price for it, thank you for letting me know.

    • Sara says

I find the same with this product. I also just noticed that Target has a coupon for $1 off one Aveeno product. There everyday price is 6.49 online. I feel like it may be 5.99 in the store.

      So another scenerio is 6.49 x2= 12.98

      12.98-$3mq-$1tc= 8.98

      8.98/2=$4.49 each

      so really the same price…………..

but….if they let you use two target coupons one for each it could be $3.99

      Target coupon expires 10-4

      • Sara says

It looks like it might be worth waiting to see if this product goes on sale at target in the next week. Could possibly get it for in the $3.50-3.99 range and it wont be any more expensive without the sale. One thing to be aware of though is the number of prints of the Target coupon that you can get.

  25. shannon says

Has anyone tried the G-Fit deal? I'll have to check to see if I did something wrong, but I didn't get 3 for $5. The total came to $7, BUT, I did get the $3 RR PLUS another catalina printed out to take a survey online and get a $5 check in the mail, so it is a money maker!!!

  26. Jessica says

Has anyone gotten the double register rewards for the gain? I would like to know who or why they are getting double before I run off thinking I might get it too.

    • Jessica says

If you read the coupon it works for most of the bengay products, you can get the ones that are 5.99. I thought the same thing until I read the coupon and was standing in the aisle trying to figure which one I could get.

  27. Val says

Does anyone know where I can order extra copies of the gasx coupons that are 10 / 3? I checked coupon clippers and they didn't come up in the search.

In the deals for Gas-x above it mentions a $10/3 coupon in the 7/17 smart source. I only see a coupon for a dollar. Am I missing something?

I am still awaiting a reply on this question…anyone??

    Thank you

  29. JoAnna says

I'm guessing the $10/3 coupon is a regional coupon. The deal is also listed at wild for wags. I only have the $1 coupons, too.

  30. alesha says

Thanks Cassie. The manager didn't even let them scan. He just said right off the bat that the infant care booklet coupons were manufacturer coupons and that they couldn't be combined. I figured it was wrong, but it was still a good deal on wipes, so I didn't fight it. It does make a coupon lady upset though when she can't use her coupons to the fullest!

    • alesha says

Another question…the infant care booklet coupons, do we have to give those to the cashier or are they like the monthly coupon books and we can keep them to use again? This would sadden me if we don't have to give them to the cashier because I did and am not getting my full use out of the coupon since I have a 5 month old.

  31. Wendy M says

Second $3 coupon for Gain detergent did not print at the Walgreens in Savage. Was not able to find the powdered detergent on sale, however, they did accept the powdered detergent coupon for the liquid. Final price $1.33 each for 6 bottles 84.3% off, not bad.

  32. Kristine says

Walgreen's is also selling their store brand diapers for Buy 1 Get 1 50% of through (I think) 9/24. The packages at my store have instant peel-off $1 coupons on all of the packs that you can use as well. The packages are normally $6.99 so if you buy 2 packs you pay $8.49 out of pocket. I purchased size 3, which has 36 diapers in a pack making it almost $0.12 per diaper. You could probably get the price down to $0.10 per diaper if you bought a smaller size.

  33. cassie says

You did not have to give it to the cashier, but its still ok if you did. All you have to do is give them coupon code if you want to use a coupon fro, the infant care booklet again. I havee all the codes so if you want i can give them to you otherwise just google walgreens infant care coupon codes and there are sites that will list them. Hope that helps :-)

  34. Missi says

For the first deal listed above: Buy 2 Crest Deep Clean Toothpaste, Glide Floss or Oral-B Advantage Complete Deep Clean Toothbrush for 2/$5, Get $3 Register Reward

Wouldn't the $2 coupon from Sunday's paper work on this deal also? It says "$2 off when you buy 1 or more of the following: Crest Complete Toothpaste, Scope Dual Blast Rinse, Oral-B Complete Floss, or Oral-B Complete Toothbrush".

Buy 2 toothpaste or toothbrushes for 2/$5, use 2x $2 off coupons, spend $1 and get $3 RR back?

  35. says

Alesha – They should've accepted both coupons as the infant care coupon is a store coupon. Here's hoping that all of the Walgreens stores will get on the same page with this soon. We checked with Walgreens corporate and their media relations specialist and wrote about this issue in this post.

  36. alesha says

Thanks Cassie!!! I'll check that out! There is one manager at the Waconia Walgreens that is a real stickler about coupons. Lucky me, he is working almost every time I come in. Over half the time there is problems with my coupons and I use deals right off of PYD along with everyone else's who work. Boo!

  37. Amy E says

Missi….yes, that would work. That was an awesome coupon.

In case anyone didn't see, there is a new $1.50 off Carmex printable coupon available. I think the Carmex deal runs for a month.

    • JoAnna says

I don't believe you will find an infant care book at stores anymore. People have posted the codes and then at check out you tell the cashier the code (since it is a store coupon) and it works.

  38. V says

How can you tell on the Target site for printing coupons if they are a manufacturer's coupon or a Target coupon before you print it??? I printed the Skittles one and was surprised it was a man. coupon but then tried another coupon I would like and it was only for Target….if anyone could; help me figure this out before I waste more ink….Thanks! ;)

  39. Chris says

Yep it sure was Amy!!! I used the $2 coupons today also. Spend $1, get a $3 RR = a $2 moneymaker. I had gotten enough coupons from the neighbors and some friends to do the transaction 5 times, so I got 10 tubes of toothpaste for $5.00, and have $15 RR leftover!!!

I want to use them on the P&G deal – I have a bunch of $2/1 coupons on Tide Stain Release and $2.50/1 coupons for the Bounce Dryer Bars. I plan to buy 4 of each, and use 4 of each coupon, which should work out $14 after the coupons, get $10 RR back = $4 for all 8 (plus tax). I just have to wait until the truck comes on Thursday — all three of our stores are already out of these products :(

  40. Jen says

I'm really frusterated with the Walgreens Proctor and Gamble Buy $30 get $10 RR deal. We've called the store and asked if our purchase must be $30 BEFORE or AFTER coupons and the store manager said my total after any coupons must be at least $30 in P&G items alone. (We heard a lady who was upset a few weeks ago when she didn't get her RR because she used coupons so we wanted to check to be sure.) I couldn't believe this was right so we stopped at a different store last night and asked a manager before shopping and she said the same thing. I'm reading different on the web. Can anyone clear this up for me? I'm sure if you're posting or reading on this blog, you understand that parting with $30 is a huge amount of money! I'm in the Eau Claire area of WI.

    • Amy L says

Jen–Unfortunately this is why many people have altogether stopped going to Walgreens…it seems to be very very hit or miss…and if you do try to explain the policy to them they don't seem to listen and/or are willing to explain it better…

  41. Carrie says

Walgreens had their huggies jean diapers on clearance today for 3.19 a pack, they let me use my $3 coupons from last sundays smart source and a couple of the 1.50 coupons. I got 5 packs for $3.95!!

  42. Michelle B. says

Just wanted to let others know doing the Walgreens Diaper Deal:

The Infant Care booklet coupon can be used with the $1/1 MQ Peelies on the packages. It brings the packages down to $2.75 each.

Also, these diapers are the exact same as Cub's Baby Basics (literally). In case you may have tried those but not the Walgreen's brand.
