  1. Does anyone know where to ge tthe best discounts for the State Fair? Food, stuff, parking, tix, etc?

  2. Menards is also selling discount tickets to Mt Olympus in WI Dells. I went there earlier this summer and it was cheaper to stay at the Mt Olympus hotel for one night for a family of four or more (you get two days worth of admission to the parks), otherwise I thought the discount tickets are a good price.

  3. We always buy the fair coupon book. Cub has it for $4 right now. It has tons of bogo's, and if you don't need two of something a lot of the vendors will also take them as 50% off coupons. We take our own lunch in, and then let our 6 kids pick their favorite fair food item. With the coupons it makes it very reasonable for our family of 8, and the kids all still get their favorites. I should add that 4 of our 6 earn their tickets through the summer reading program at the library. We then buy the others at Cub for a discount.

  4. My employer has discounted tickets and coupon books for the State Fair for us, maybe some other employers offer that too – but I think the deals are about the same as at Cub. Of course, some days at the state fair have better deals (kids day, senior day, the last day). I found last year, there were people selling tickets and coupon discounted books on Craigslist, that would be a good deal.

  5. I'm looking for BOGO Renaissance Festival tickets, but want to attend on Sept 15 or 16 so the StarTrib Steal won't work. I did a search but couldn't find anything. Any suggestions?

    • Brenda – I did a quick search through our posts for deals on Renaissance Festival tickets that were available last year (apparently you did, too, as this post is from last year) but I didn't find any BOGO offers for weekends except the first 3. Your best bet is to buy advanced tickets from an outside retailer (the retailers listed above in this post may be participating again) or if you live in Winona, Rochester, Lacrosse, or Eau Claire, that weekend is automatically BOGO when you show your ID.
