Today only (Monday, 8/22), Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile specialty stores are offering a free AT&T 8GB iPhone 3GS with activation of a two-year plan. This offer is available in-store only, but you can place an order on BestBuy.com for in-store pickup.
This offer is available only while supplies last and there is a purchase limit of two per customer. Best Buy/Best Buy Mobile has a 30-day return and exchange policy on mobile devices, so if you’ve recently purchased a different phone there, you may be able to exchange it for this one (although some mobile phone carriers have only a 14-day window for returns/exchanges). Best Buy will also price match this offer if you’ve purchased the iPhone 3GS within the last 30 days.
My (Laura’s) husband has been begging me for an iPhone ever since he saw a fishing buddy’s iPhone with all of the bells and whistles (including a GPS application or something like that…I couldn’t understand all of the fishing terminology mumbo-jumbo). We went to Best Buy today to pick up our new iPhones (because I had to get one too, y’know…all of those free shopping apps were calling my name). I’m so excited to get started with it!

Very cool. But how much do you have to pay per month for the service to use all those bells and whistles?
You need to have a data plan on your account. If you already have one, no extra charge is necessary. I added a data plan for $15/month but may upgrade if it turns out I need more capacity.
I guess it may be something that I decide I need at some point, but I’ll stick to my text-and-talk plan of $20/mo. for 300 minutes and unlimited texts and keep my “dumb” phone. I’m chained to the computer for work usually, so I feel like I usually don’t miss having it. Sounds like a great deal for those that are into it, though!
Wish verizon would offer some great deals with their iphone.
Thank you so much for the heads up on this one!! My current iphone 3G started acting up yesterday, so I decided to go ahead and upgrade!
