Rainbow Foods, Copps, and Pick N Save Shopping List 7/31 – 8/6/11

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

If you are new to shopping Double Daze, be sure to read Roundy’s (Rainbow Foods, Copps, and Pick N Save’s) double coupon policy before you get started to understand all the restrictions of their double coupon promotion.

If you shop at Copps and your ad doesn’t match the items mentioned in this shopping list, then check out what we saw for sales last week.

Two things to remember about this list of deals. First, it does not include every sale-priced item that has a coupon. It only has those items whose final price is low enough for us to mention it. Second, it is a starting list: as we learn of more deals whose final price is low enough, we will update this list. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

Comments

  1. Cathy says:

You can’t double coupons on the 3 day specials

    • Amanda says:

True, not this week, but those of us in Madison can sometime double on 3-day specials when there is a double double day on a Saturday. I appreciate the inclusion. :)

  2. Jodi Nord says:

anyone else having trouble with the Gold n’ Plump printables? One link is dead and for the second link, there is no coupon in Smartsource online.

  3. Alesha H says:

Pringles $2/1 fat free cpn in 7/31 PG making them $.59 as well.

    • amy says:

      Alesha,
Are you sure the Fat Free Pringles are included in the sale? Seems like these don’t go on sale as much.
      Thanks!

    • Rachel says:

I received a $1 off of 2 Fat Free Pringles cpn in the P&G. Do those inserts have different coupons for different areas?

  4. Brian says:

I agree that this is deceiving. The 3-day early bird specials expire on Tuesday. Double coupon day is Wednesday – by then the early bird pricing will be over.

Can anyone confirm or deny this with certainty?

  5. Carol says:

The 50 cents off 1 Lipton tea coupon from the 7/31/11 insert doubled makes the 16 count box of tea bags free for an on-going deal through 8/31/11 (expiration date).

  6. M says:

Went there today bought the milk (2.29) and 2 boxes of Eggo waffles ($2/each) had a manu. cp for $2.00 off milk when you purchase 2 Eggo products I tried to use 2/.75 coupons on the Eggo product as well… didn’t work. I read the fine print on the coupons and didnt see any restrictions. Just when I thought I had it all figured out :(

    • JoAnna says:

M–How did the deal not work? Coupons beeped, cashier said no……

      • Mary says:

Never heard the ‘beep’ Cashier said ‘no’ I didn’t want to argue but I thought I was right. I have one more $2 off milk I will try again during the week when my favorite cashier is working!

    • Jill Pearson says:

were did you get the milk coupon?

      • Kris E says:

Jill, I saw a bunch of those on Ebay when I was looking for Eggo Syrup coupons so I did a google search.

They are like the Cub Summertime Fun coupon books. Sites are reporting these available at Walmart, Giant Eagle and other stores so keep a look-out for them

Keebler/Kelloggs Happy School Year Coupon Books. I think I saw that display at Coburns or Rainbow…. It looks like a huge school bus with cookies and such in it. Here are the coupons in the book:

I found this info here along with a photo of what the display looks like:
        http://forthemommas.com/coupons/kelloggs-happy-new-school-year-coupon-book

        • Rebecca says:

I found the Keebler/Kellogg’s coupon books at Cub in Eden Prairie on Sunday. There was a large display by the entry of the store.

    • Emily Rinke says:

Always go through the self-checkout. The self-checkout cashier always is less anal than the regular cashiers.

    • Lisa ** says:

At one of the stores that I regularly shop at this would not work either (the other will regularly override this). The $2 off milk will tag the coupon to the waffles rather than the milk which puts you over the coupon per item limit and beeps according to the computer.

  7. Jennifer says:

Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt (4 pk.) $1.79
Use $1/1 Light & Fit 4 pk. printable (for Internet Explorer) or $1/1 Light & Fit 4 pk. printable (for Firefox)
Final price: Better than free after doubled coupon**

I am getting this for the printable: “Sorry this coupon has already been printed the maximum number of times as set by the manufacturer. “

  8. Jennifer says:

Organic Valley Flavored Half & Half $1.50
Use $0.75/1 Organic Valley Half & Half Creamer printable or $0.75/1 Organic Valley Half and Half printable
Final price: Free after doubled coupon

On the second link, I couldn’t find any $0.75 coupons to print. All are $0.50 ones.

  9. Jessica says:

There’s also a $.50/1 Bugles making those free after doubled coupon. No idea which insert it’s from since I clip all my coupons right away.

  10. Jessica says:

Also the Minute Rice steamers are a frozen product so don’t look for them on the shelves!

    • Cara says:

Thanks for the heads up Jessica – you saved me some time on Wed.

      • Jessica says:

No problem! I filed the coupon in my Freezer section when I originally clipped it (I guessed that’s where it would belong), and Roundys confirmed that by listing it in the Freezer section in their ad.

  11. Mel says:

I also couldn’t get the Gold N Plump and Dannon coupons to work. I also couldn’t get the Tombstone or Betty Crocker potatoes coupons to work either.

On the Hellman’s deal, can you use two of the 25/1 coupons AND the fresh chicken coupon? The chicken coupon says “Save $2 on fresh chicken when you buy 2 Hellman’s” so I’m not sure if more MQ’s would be allowed on the mayos? It doesn’t list that in the deal but if the Eggo/milk coupon scenario should work above, then I would think this would?

  12. Kris E says:

    Some more deal ideas:

There’s a catalina deal on Couponnetwork.com on Degree:
Buy 4 Degree Clinical Protection Antipersperant/Deoderant for 22.00
USE (4) 7/31 RP $1/1 Degree Men or Women Premium Anti-Perspirant, Deodorant or Body Mist
Spend $ 14.00, get 4.00 Mfg Catalina, plus get $7.00 Rainbow Catalina
    Final cost after 4 and 7 catalina’s: $3.00 ($.75 each)

This “should” work, hoping the Rainbow Mfg Cat doesn’t cancel out the National Mfg Cat.

    Another deal, Hellman’s:
It’s part of the Unilever deal (spend 20.00, get 7)
    Purchase 8 Hellman’s for $24.00
PLUS Purchase $8.00 in fresh chicken (will be free)
    Use (4) $.40/2 7/31 RP
Use (4) $2.00/Chicken when you buy (2) Hellman’s Mayonnaise products (Rainbow Ad Coupon)
Spend $22.40, receive $7.00 Rainbow Unilever Catalina PLUS
Actual value would be $7.40 spent on 8 = .93 each if you factor in catalina’s, coupons and mfg coupons for fresh chicken.

    Buy (4) Bryer’s Blasts for $16.00
    Use (4) $.75/1 coupons.com
    Spend $10.00, get $5.00 Catalina
    $1.25 each

    • Laura Wales says:

The Degree deal I see on Coupon Network doesn’t start until 8/8.

      • Sarah Sonnier says:

Hum, I think if it does work, it will for us WI PYDers since we’ll be shopping this list until 8/10. :-) I’ll be giving it a try unless I find out it won’t work. Thanks! My store is only doubling on Wednesdays now so I’m down to 1 shopping trip a week which has been a real hassle, especially since it’s the last day of their sales…but this brightened my outlook! I sure hope they have some left and it works.

      • Kris E says:

it says print by 8/8, which means it runs til then.

        • Laura Wales says:

Kris – I actually printed it myself and saw that the promotion runs from 8/8-9/4. Here are the full details from the printout (it’s possible it may have changed since I first saw it):

          Degree Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant 8/8 – 9/4
          Buy 2, get $1
          Buy 3, get $2
          Buy 4+, get $4

There is also a deal for Women’s Degree with the same dates and same purchase requirements.

          • Kris E says:

You’re right, sorry. Before, print by meant end date. I’m going to have to print them out now to see end date :(

  13. Kris E says:

    Spend $10.47, get $3 RR
$2.49 each (.12 per ounce/.25 per packet) after RR

At Cub this week, the stain release is not part of the P&G Catalina deal, but they will substitute:
    Buy (3) 36 ounce $6.97
    use (3) $1.50 off 7/31 P&G
Spend $16.41, get $5 OYNP = $0.11 per ounce after coupons and 5.00 OYNO
BTW: Cub’s Catalina machines have been down since last Friday so you have to go to CS to get on apparently and if i remember correctly, the order has to come to 20.00 after coupons.

I’m running low, so doing scenerio’s for stock-up.

  14. Kris E says:

Macaroni Grill or Wanchai Ferry 2/$12.00
    Buy 2
Use (2) $1/1 on double days from Couponnetwork.com

As low as $4.00 each. I’ve seen lower, but this isn’t a bad price for the frozen variety

    • Kris E says:

this $1/1 coupons just showed up on Coupons.com as well so I was able to print out (2) on each site listed, 4 total.

      • Sarah Burrill says:

Kris E. thanks for all your deals– very helpful!

        • Kris E says:

You’re welcome. Trying to figure these deals out myself, this helps me with my own list at the end of the week :)

I’m also very grateful to staff and all those who contribute. I can’t count how many times I’ve saved big on spotter deals not listed in the sales like the hefty deal. I have enough garbage bags for a long time now

  15. opie says:

Has anyone confirmed that the Monopoly coupons and manufacturers’ coupons can be stacked? I haven’t tried and don’t want a disappointment. Thanks.

  16. Susan says:

Under “Special Offers” on the Gold’n Plump website, there are 3 rebate offers. One for a grill set, another for the stuffed animals & a third for a cookbook. With the Gold’n Plump deals this & last week, these are a nice bonus!

  17. Patt says:

I also have been stacking them with no problem

  18. Katie says:

Does anyone know if skippy peanut butter is included in the unilever Catalina? It’s not listed in the ad but similar unilever products are included.

  19. B says:

I’m confused about the amount of produce deals. Do you only list what you consider to be a good deal? $1 for fresh mushrooms seems pretty good, do you know of a better price?

  20. Sarah Burrill says:

Anyone know the price of Kemps select gallon size milk? There is a Cub man Q for $2/2 Kemps this week. I am wondering if that would work out cheaper than the $2.29 /gall in-store ad Q in the Rainbow flyer

    • Erin says:

When I’ve bought Kemps in the past, a gallon generally runs about 3.79… so not better than the 2.29 price, but I am willing to pay 50 cents extra for what I think is a little bit better quality milk (no hormones or anything).

  21. Katie R says:

Smart Source, Coupon Network and Coupons.com have all posted coupons for 1.00 off any one frozen pillsbury egg scrambles or biscuit sandwiches. They are on sale this week for 2.00 making them free.

  22. Emily Rinke says:

Is there a way PYD could list the doubled coupon price as well as the normal coupion price for each item. I never have $25 worth of items, even before coupons, but I would still perhaps buy some of the items even if the coupon wasn’t doubled.

  23. Shelly says:

If anyone is in Rainbow and notices if the Organic Valley regular half and half is also on sale for $1.50, would you please post? I don’t buy flavored half & half, but love the regular Organic Valley. Thanks very much

    • Sarah Sonnier says:

I’m curious about that too as I’ve been holding my coupons out for a sale. I shop Pick N Save so our sale won’t be active until the 4th, but I checked the Rainbow website (Apple Valley store) and they listed the flavored variety at $2.29 for a pint. I forget which as this list is based on but maybe the sale is regional? I didn’t see any reference on the Rainbow site to the reg. stuff being on sale…also the only flavor listed was French Vanilla. I think it is a new product for OV though so maybe they only are stocking a more popular flavor???

      • Sarah Sonnier says:

Ok, cancel that…I guess the site didn’t want to show me everything unless I added the word “half” to my search for Organic Valley…sheesh! Details, details! The site is not very advanced, I find. Oh well. The flavored stuff IS listed at 2/$3.

  24. Jen says:

I had someone stop for me at Rainbow in Forest Lake to check out what cereals are included in the Post and Kelloggs deals.

    Post:
All varieties of Honey Bunches of Oats
    Fruity Pebbles

    Kelloggs:
    Crispix
    All flavors of Rice Krispies
    Rainsin Bran
    Rainsin Bran Crunch
    Corn Flakes
    Honey Smacks
    Crunchy Nut- both kinds
    Apple Jacks
    Fruit Loops
All Favors of Frosted Mini Wheats
    Smores
    Frosted Flakes

    Hope this helps!

  25. Sarah Sonnier says:

Why is the Ivory 3 pack listed at $2 under the P&G deal and $1 under the Health & Beauty Deals section? Is it a different pack or does the promotion somehow effect the price?

  26. Kris E says:

Found some coupons for products I’d like to try out.
I haven’t seen these listed as deals before so thought I’d ask where the best place to find and get a good deal on.

    http://www.landolakes.com/SimpleRewards/Offers.aspx

Save $1.00 Alpine Lace® $1 on 1 lb. of Alpine Lace® Deli Cheese
Save $1.00 Alpine Lace® $1 on any 2 Packages of Alpine Lace® Pre-Sliced Deli Cheese
    Save $1.00 LAND O LAKES® $1 on 1 lb. of LAND O LAKES® Deli Cheese
Save 75¢ LAND O LAKES® 75¢ on One LAND O LAKES® Cinnamon Sugar Butter Spread

I put this here because at least I can double these at Rainbow. Thought I’d look for them at Walmart as well. I already ran a search on past sales and haven’t seen anything for Alpine Lace or Land O Lakes Deli Cheese. Did a search and can’t find these products listed as available at Rainbow. so… thought I’d ask here, sorry if off subject

    • Emily Rinke says:

Not sure where you are located, but the Jubilee Foods in Mound and Becker have Land O’ Lakes deli american cheese for $4.99/lb. Plus they double coupons up to $0.50 so the final price would be $3.49/lb.

  27. Kris E says:

Thank you Emily. I called Walmart and Land 0 Lakes American is 6.28. I do live on the west side. Hurt my back so have plenty of time to putz around looking for good deals
    Next stop, http://www.jubileefoods.com LOL

    • Emily says:

That website is actually not their’s. They don’t have a website! And they don’t seem to be affiliated with other Jubilee Fodds. But I did an ad match for their weekly ad and it is available here:
      http://emssoapbox.blogspot.com/2011/08/mound-jubilee-foods-ad-match.html

      • Kris E says:

Cute site. Did the google and saw Jubilee/Mound hasn’t stepped out of the 80′s LOL. Some descent deals, cute site btw. Thanks!

        • Emily says:

Thanks, I just started it. I consider myself pretty computer savvy but starting a blog is confusing and slightly overwhelming.

And yes, why wouldn’t Jubilee have a website? Even a small one that lists that week’s ad and directions and coupon policies. Heck, they could make one for free. It is a bit irritating, especially since I have to drive 6 miles to get the paper that they have their weekly ad in.

  28. Sally says:

A cashier at the EP Rainbow mentioned they accept expired coupons if they expire in the week they are used.

  29. Kathy says:

Is the Unilever spend 20 get $7 threshold before or after manufacturer coupons? Can anyone confirm?

    • Kris E says:

I called and was told you have to spend 20 AFTER coupons to get the catalina to print out. Also, catalina is totally down right now at Rainbow and Cub so you have to call Catalina and get the coupon sent til the problem is solved (hopefully by Saturday).

Also, the bread and 2.00 off chicken attach to the bread and chicken so you can use coupons for butter and mayo. This is going to be difficult with 5 double coupons max and the cat down…

  30. Kris E says:

    Cataline info:
    email: coupon@catalina.com
after 24 hours of a cat not printing, send store name, address and phone number, time/date and lane number of transaction, shopping card ID and name of promotion, what was the offer and what did you need to buy and what did you expect to receive, your address, state, zip and phone number. The recording didn’t say to give transaction #, but I would.
    OR
    call: 1-888-826-8766
give transaction number and deal info along with name/address to get cat mailed to you.

  31. Kathy says:

In previous Unilever deals I sometimes only needed the $20 amount or more with sale price but without coupons, but there was one time it didn’t print and they told me it was because it had to be $20 with sale price & coupons. I am in WI, so this deal doesn’t hit until next week. If anyone gets the catalina spending $20 with sale price, but less than $20 after coupons, please confirm, so I don’t buy more than I need too…

    • anne says:

i did the unilever deal today, i am in Wi also, i bought 6 dove products, used 3 b1g1 coupons paid 10 something and got back a 7.00 catalina

  32. Dawn N says:

Buy $20 worth of participating Unilever products, get $7 on your next shopping trip or
Buy $15 worth of participating Unilever products, get $5 on your next shopping trip

Is this deal before coupons or after as I know that it many times is after and want to know for planning. Anyway to know for sure? It is usually such a hassle at customer service when it is after coupons. Thanks

    • Kathy says:

I just did the deal today with Ragu, 10 jars @$2, used the 5 coupons for $1 off each and received the $7 catalina, so it counts the price prior to paper coupons, but I think it would be calculated after sale price (wasn’t willing to risk that, figured worse cast would be after coupons and I would only get the $5 catalina.)

  33. kelsey says:

did anyone ever find out if the fat free pringles were included in the sale? also a little confused about the tampax deal i’m wondering how to get them down to the .74 cents since the 1/1 mfg is for the tampax pearl which isn’t included in the deal from what i’m seeing in the ad. did anyone else figure this out?

    • Brenda says:

Kelsey – I believe that Fat Free Pringles have their own sale this week. 2 for $5. FF and Light. It’s the square right next to the reg pringles in the printed ad. Hope that helps!

  34. Kris E says:

    Deal Idea:
Buy 4 lbs Pork Baby Back Ribs @ $3.98 per lb
Use (2) $2/2lbs any Fresh or Previously Frozen Pork Ribs (2 lbs or more) http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?bt=vi&tqnm=yg5jahh46504114&o=89669&c=SV&p=q52sf1PG

4 lbs for $2.98 per lb

  35. Sue says:

For the Post Cereal $2.20 deal. How is it as low as $.20 when the only coupon listed is $1/2?

  36. Sherry says:

Since switching to Rainbow a few months ago, I can consistently save at least 50% on my groceries. I am thrilled! Thank you PYD and all those that offer additional input. You’ve helped me save a lot of $$$. With a lot of planning, I’ve been able to maximize each transaction. (I usually have three when it’s only double daze.) Keep up the great work Carrie!

  37. Andy says:

Kemps Ice Cream or Sherbet $2.50
Buy 2 and use $1/2 coupon from 6/26 Smart Source insert
Final price: $1.50 each after doubled coupon**
**Plus, get a bonus Monopoly game piece for each item you purchase.

I’m confused why this deal leeps showing up week after week? The coupon is for the 48oz tubs and the sale is on the 54 oz blocks. Are people using the coupon anyways?

    • Shelly says:

Hmmm, I did this deal today. I clipped the coupon and didn’t look very closely at it other than making sure it was $1/two. I was thinking the photo even showed the “bricks” of ice cream, though (can’t check it now). I wonder if your coupon insert is different. Is it from the Mpls Star Trib? I guess even those can vary by area…… Anyway, no beeps at the register so it must have been a valid coupon.

  38. Jennifer says:

**NEW** Lipton Tea (16 ct.) $1.00
Use $0.50/1 coupon from 7/31 Red Plum insert (exp. 8/31)
Final price: Free after doubled coupon

They raise the price for the Lipton 16 cnt. Before the discount this week, it was $1.09 each box. Today they are $0.82 per box. So to get them free, you have to use the coupons this week.

  39. Jennifer says:

The 9th Hamburger help is $1.48 ($0.50 more than each of the first 8).

  40. Sarah Burrill says:

OOOOO, RB Q and speacial deals booklet just arrived in the mail! Looks like some good ones to use with double coupons!

    • Shelly says:

Thanks for the heads up, Sarah. Happy to see that Tide $4.98 coupon in there – in light of the $1/1 coupon in the inserts this past Sunday. For awhile, Tide coupons were so wimpy – 50 or 35 cents off. $2.98 is a great price for a bottle of that good detergent.

  41. S says:

The Palermos coupon looks legit but prints out as a whole page (its ridiculously large). Generally I am not concerned about this, but I can already see the looks I will get from the cashier when I give this to them. It is on their website so I assume it is legit. Has anybody had issues with this Q?

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Yes. Some stores won’t accept it because it does not have a watermark on it. We know it’s legit because it is from the Palermo website, but it has been hit-or-miss to use.

    • Mel says:

My Palermo coupon prints small, you can probably change your advanced print settings since its a .pdf file. I did have a minor problem with it today though, it wouldn’t scan and the (new with a sticker for a name tag) cashier said he wasn’t going to be able to manually enter it. The line was long (he was new so he was much slower) and he started to get flustered so he ended up just entering a generic grocery coupon code for $1 which doubled and I got the same end result. Your cashier can make such a difference in coupons!

    • denise says:

I used it at CR Rainbow last weekend with no problem.

  42. A says:

The betty crocker 98 cent deal can be combined. It doesn’t have to be 8 of all one product.

  43. Cassie B says:

Does anyone know if the “free” bag of minute rice applies to the $25 minimum…Meaning, if I bought 10 bags (using 5 coupons and getting 5 for free) would that equal out to be $19.90 (counting all 10 bags) or $9.95 (counting only the 5 that are being paid for) applying towards the purchase minimum? Thanks!

  44. Melissa says:

Nivea Lip Care was not on sale at Woodbury or Cottage Grove. It was $2.99. The Bounty Napkin coupon from 7-31 PG was for .25, not $1.

  45. Brita says:

Nivea Lip Care was 2.99 in Forest Lake as well. The Goldn Plump on sale wasn’t the All Naturals, so couldn’t use the coupon with the sale.

Some was asking about the FF Pringles, they are 2/$5.

    • Kris E says:

Just got their Dynanic Values Coupon Booklet, sale starts tomorrow. Included in the booket is a BOGO on Gold N Plump All Natural Whole Chicken 3.5 lb. Save up to 5.99 on 2
      That would make 2 chickens= $3.99

      • JoAnna says:

Their bogo makes each chicken $2.99. Then you can use one coupon for $1 off gold n plump so only $2.50 each.

        • Kris E says:

It says up to 5.99 value on 2. so if you got 2 chickens for 5.99 each, one being free, total cost would be 5.99 for the one, using the 1/1 doubled would make the one you pay for 3.99, get the other one free.

My mind is mush, sorry don’t see where it would cost 5.00 for 2 chickens.

          • JoAnna says:

You are saying $4 for both so $2 each after dbld coupon. I did not think about dbling it do then it would be $2.50 each. You have the best deal.

    • Sarah Burrill says:

Regarding the Nivea lipcare deal: I went to Eagan RB on Wed. I found Nivea on sale for 99cents– price marked on shelf with “orange” sticker. That seemed way cheap, and I couldn’t find the $1.69 price anywhere, so I bought ‘em anyway. They went thru at $2.99 each. I am takling them back tomorrow with receipt. I then went all the way thru my RB flyer, and couldn’t find them on sale at all– altho my insert was cut-up for coupons etc. I guess I am wondering if Nivea lipcare was ever on sale this week?

    • Jennifer says:

I go to the Forest Lake one and the chicken that was on sale that I saw was the all natural and the coupons worked. Wierd.

  46. Katy says:

The $1 off on (1) pkg. of Gold’nPlump All Natural Chicken which I just printed off is a “Do not double” –Also, Johnsonville Brats coupon is “out” when I tried to print, with message that they will be “up” again soon. Finally, when I went to the Tombstone Pizza site to print of the $1.50/3 coupon, message said that coupon was no longer offered. Otherwise, pretty good luck! Still learning the ropes, I am!

  47. Alyssa says:

The Nivea lip care was NOT on sale at my Rainbow, Eagan. I even had them do a price check & it rang up at 2.99 each.

  48. fusilli says:

For the Unilever deal, I went to Rainbow last night and bought the following:

    2 bottles of Dove shampoo/conditioner $7
    2 Pond’s towelettes $8
    Spent $15

    Used 2 Dove coupons – doubled $3.50
    Used 2 Pond coupons – doubled $4
    Got a catalina coupon $5
    Saved $12.50
