You don’t need me to tell you it’s a hot one today. If you are looking for something fun to do with the family this evening but want to stay indoors, you can take part in Family Night at the IMAX Theatre and receive discounted tickets. Also find out how you can get a free month of karate classes for kids or adults and free admission to the Minnesota Zoo.
Free Admission to Minnesota Zoo
You can receive free admission to the Minnesota Zoo Thursday, July 21, from 4-8pm courtesy of Think Mutual Bank. Offer is available to both bank customers and non-customers. To get free admission, simply stop by a Think Mutual Bank location near you and pick up a free wristband, no strings attached. (Thanks, Kristi!)
Free Karate Classes
Martial Arts America is currently offering one free month of karate classes. Plus, for a limited time, you can also get a free uniform ($40 value). Children, teens or adults can participate in this offer. You can register online by filling out the form on Martial Arts America’s website or by calling 952-556-5000. (Thanks to Pocket Your Dollars’ reader Tina for posting this on our Facebook page!)
Free Waterski Shows on Thursdays
The weather is supposed to be a bit better this coming Thursday, so if you would like to enjoy an outdoor activity, you can watch a free waterski show by the Twin Cities River Rats. The performance will begin at 6:30pm at their home ski site off River Road in Minneapolis. If you can’t make it this week, they perform weekly shows every Thursday evening beginning at 6:30 through the end of August. (Thanks, PhenoMNal Twin Cities!)
Family Night Movie at IMAX
Bring the family to Family Night at the Great Clips IMAX Theatre tonight, July 18, to view “Deep Sea 3D” beginning at 6:30pm. You can receive a free child ticket for every adult ticket your purchase at $9.50. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time on the IMAX Theatre website. Arrive early to enjoy complimentary Subway sandwiches to be served at 5:30pm while supplies last. If you have never been to the Great Clips IMAX Theatre, it is located at the Minnesota Zoo. (Thanks, Karen!)**
**Because of the hot weather today, this event will likely be busier than usual. Also, readers have previously left comments about the complimentary food being gone within 15 minutes of the event starting. If you are really interested in getting a free sandwich, I would arrive there fairly early.
Feel free to contact us if you know of any additional coupons, deals and events available to readers in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. You can also access a Google calendar of all of the time-sensitive offers we post.
Your turn: Do you know of any other free events going on this week in your area?

There are no Karate classes here in the cities…BUMMER!
Debra – There is a Martial Arts America location in Chaska.
I’ve been to the Chaska location and they are great! Stop by and check it out. It’s easy to find… just off of Highway 41.
The River Rats are very good! Fun to watch! And yes…FREE! (we knew someone who was in it)
Yep, Subway sandwiches were gone when we got there, and then 10 min. into the movie they had technical issues (no sound). It was a
terrible outing, considering 35min drive each way…..
Anna – Sorry to hear that. :(
We’ve gone to the Imax Theater for Family night and had a good experience. Yes-the subs were gone in 10 minutes so I had to purchase something else for my kids but the movie was great. (Just don’t expect to eat there if you aren’t there early.)
