Local Deals: Free Fireworks, Water Ski Show, Renaissance Festival Preview + More

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

Here are a few events going on this weekend you can attend for free. If you are looking for more local deals, you can read yesterday’s local deals post, which includes a promo code for discount Wild Mountain passes valid through the end of today (7/22) only, and more.

17th Annual ArtCar + ArtBike Parade Cruise
The 17th Annual ArtCar + ArtBike Parade Cruise is tomorrow, July 23, at Lake Harriet in Minneapolis. The free event begins at 6pm and will feature ArtCars, ArtBikes and one Couchmobile cruising around the lake, and ending at the Rose Garden. (Thanks, Clara!)

Aquatennial Fireworks Display
On Saturday, July 23, you can watch Target Fireworks, one of the largest annual fireworks shows in the country, in celebration of the 72nd Aquatennial. The fireworks will begin at 9pm along West River Parkway in Minneapolis, between Portland Avenue and the 3rd Avenue Bridge. You can head there early to enjoy live music by Our American Cousin, Hannah Christianson and The Cold Open beginning at 6pm. (Thanks, phenoMNal twin cities!)

Renaissance Festival Preview
If you are a Renaissance Festival fan like me, you’ll like this event. On Sunday, July 24 from 11am–5pm, you can preview the 41st Annual Minnesota Renaissance Festival in the Rotunda at Mall of America. Activities will include live entertainment, dancers and kids’ activities.

Ski Otters Ski Show
The Ski Otters Water Ski Team will be putting on a free performance of the classic Jocks vs. Geeks story on their water skis on Sunday, July 24 at Little Goose Lake in White Bear Lake. The performance will begin at 6pm and will include a cast of 100 skiers performing human pyramids, jumps, stunts and barefoot water skiing. View this schedule to find additional shows, which are scheduled through the end of August.

Be sure to wave to my (Carrie’s) uncle who drives the boat and my cousin Nick who skis (he’s always on the bottom of those giant multi-level pyramids. It amazes me). It’s free, but a free will offering is taken. (Thanks, Clara!)

Feel free to contact us if you know of any additional coupons, deals and events available to readers in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. You can also access a Google calendar of all of the time-sensitive offers we post.

Your turn: What are your plans for this weekend? Are you going to attend any of the events listed above?
