Local Deals: Free Children’s Museum Admission, Art Project for Kids + More

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

There’s always plenty to do in the Twin Cities, especially with the temperature heating up and people spending more time outside. How do you plan to celebrate Dad this weekend? As for me (Laura), my husband is going fishing this weekend (as usual) and then I’m treating him to dinner out with a coupon from one of the daily deal sites.

St. Paul Yoga Center Open House
You can enjoy free mini-classes, yoga demonstrations and discussions, and refreshments during St. Paul Yoga Center’s Open House on Saturday, June 18, from 1-6pm. Plus, everyone who attends the open house will receive a pass for a free class to be used on a future visit. If you can’t make it to the open house but would still like to attend a class for free, you can use the printable coupon found on the St. Paul Yoga Center website(Thanks, phenoMNal Twin Cities!)

Create a Fish Print T-Shirt for Dad
On Saturday, June 18, kids can bring a cotton t-shirt to a Creative Kidstuff store near you between 1-3pm to decorate a t-shirt – using a real fish (this could be an interesting project). (Thanks, Free Family Fun!)

Juneteenth Freedom Day
The Juneteenth Freedom Day Festival is Saturday, June 18, beginning at 10am at the North Mississippi Regional Park in Minneapolis. The free festival observes the June 19, 1865 proclamation of the abolition of slavery in Texas and celebrates freedom for people of all racial backgrounds. There will be food, entertainment and activities.

Free Admission to Children’s Museum
This Sunday, June 19, is the third Sunday of the month, which means you can get free admission to the Minnesota Children’s Museum from 9am-5pm. Offer is valid for persons of any age. If you’ve always wanted to go but have been wary of the crowds, note that June is the second lowest-attended month all year.

Stone Arch Festival of the Arts
The Stone Arch Festival of the Arts in Minneapolis is this weekend, Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19 from 10am-6pm. The event is free to attend and will include a car show, art displays, food demos, art activities for kids, live music, giveaways, samples, and more. (Thanks, Bernice!)

Feel free to contact us if you know of any additional coupons, deals and events available to readers in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. You can also access a Google calendar of all of the time-sensitive offers we post.

Your turn: What other Father’s Day events do you know of that are available to Twin Cities readers this weekend?

We did the fish project as a wall hanging at Girl Scout camp a few years ago. It’s a very nice effect on fabric. We painted a red snapper & then pressed the fabric against it. The kids never had to touch the fish and the colors are very pretty.
