It’s a great week to shop at Walgreens as there are a few items available for free or better than free after coupons and/or Register Rewards. Freebies include contact solution, hair elastics and feminine care products. Plus, pick up inexpensive Nestle candy, Advil and ThermaCare products, and more.
We have made one change to the way we list coupons on this shopping list. Coupons located in Walgreens monthly coupon booklet (also called “Instant Value Coupons”) have recently become manufacturer’s coupons, whereas they were store coupons. So we no longer list deal scenarios that encourage you to use a manufacturer’s coupon from their monthly booklet alongside a separate manufacturer’s coupon.
A quick update on Walgreens’ coupon policy (I want to write an expanded blog post on this soon)
If you’re new to Walgreens shopping, then learn how the Register Rewards program works and learn how to read this shopping list. Don’t forget that some other stores will accept Register Rewards like a manufacturer’s coupon. Also, it’s a good idea to print out the official Walgreens’ coupon policy and keep it with you in case an issue comes up at checkout.
This is a starting list of deals for the week and is not a comprehensive list of every sale item and its coupons, but just the best deals (things at prices I’d actually pay). We will update this list as readers leave comments with bargains they found at their local store, we get emails with deal ideas or we read about other deals across the blogosphere. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week, we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.
Walgreens is the one store where an advertised sale like “2/$4” usually requires you to buy two products. The first one rings at full price and the second product will ring at a lesser price to bring the total to $4, using our example. If you ever question whether you need to buy two to receive a sale price, ask the cashier to scan one item for you. If it rings at full price, then you know you need to buy two products. If it rings at the sale price, then you don’t.
Your turn: What other deals did you find this week at Walgreens?

The Honey was the first thing I noticed that went up $1 , I was bummed too as $3.99 was an amazing price.
It’s funny how we all noticed that. That was the very first thing I noticed as I was flipping through the ad. I was glad I stocked up the last time.
Does anyone know anywhere else that I can use my register rewards? I have a whole bunch that will expire this week I tried to use them at Rainbow and they wouldn’t take them. thanks
Why not use them this week at WAG? Use them to get a bunch of the free stuff and generate more RR?
Brenda–I have used non-expired at CVS in Chanhassen and expired or non-expired at Cub in Eden Prairie, Chanhassen and Shorewood.
Our Cub Foods will take them, up to three months past expiration =) Helps to make for some low out of pocket grocery totals. It’s especially nice to have that for an option when the rewards sneak past their expiration date (which easily happens!) :) I’ve been meaning to ask Wal-Mart as well but I don’t often shop there.
I live in WI and use RR at Pick N save.
According to the newest coupon policy Wal-Mart should not be taking RR.
I use mine at my Kroger’s. It is much more convenient than to try and not use them on the same deal I got them for.
Wal Mart should take them, they did at my store, Faribault
I can’t find the Ester C Gummies (60 ct.) coupon. Can others?
I found them (under Health Care, then on the 2nd page for me) but, I was not able to print them. They simply did not print…no reason or error was given. I tried three times. I was able to print other coupons.
It printed fine for me.
near the Walgreens vitamin isle I found booklets called “Answers” Vitamins and Supplements. Inside there’s a $1.50/1 coupon for EsterC 500 mg Vitamin supplement 90 count. The photos shows gummies. I’m guessing if you buy 2 for the B1G1 deal, you can use this coupon and get $3 off which is better than the printables , right????
walmart in apple valley did not take register rewards from me last week,
Walmart does now, not expired ones though. Print out their new coupon policy.
I tried using my RR at Walmart, and took the new policy with me, but they did not honor them, they told me a specific item has to be in the RR, for example Save $5.00 Off Any Pampers Diapers, then you can use it towards a purchase of a Pampers Package, and the new policy does say “Printed at our competitors’ registers for dollar/cents off on a specific item”… :( … too good to be true
Bloomington walmart does take them.
I go to that Walmart too and was told by a manager that they DO take register rewards… I actually just used $19 worth last week. The problem is not everyone is on the same page. Never hurts to get a manager in this case, and bring your print out of the coupon policy!
I don’t usually shop at Walgreens, but I can’t pass up on the Little Swimmers deal. Where do I get the May Walgreens coupon booklet? Thanks!
Amanda – The monthly coupon booklets are located near the front of each store where you can find copies of each week’s ad.
Amanda–
It should be at the front of the store along with the weekly ad.
A quick note on the Little Swimmers – not sure if the $3 off Huggies coupon is still available for printing, but if so it can be used on the Little Swimmers. I bought some at Target yesterday (M) – 18 in the pkg. Before coupons they were $9.99 and then I used the $3 off Huggies printable coupon and the May All You buy Little Swimmers and get Juicy Juice free ($1.89 value). I tihink Walgreens sells Juicy Juice, so you could use that coupon to make this an even better deal.
“Dove, Lindt or Wonka Exceptionals Bars 2/$3
two $1/1 Lindt Classic Recipe Chocolate from May All You magazine
Final price: As low as $0.50 each after coupons”
This does not work with the Lindt bars as the $1/1 is for the 4.4 oz classic and the ones on sale in the ad are for the 3.5 oz bars.
Thanks, Katie!
my sunday paper had a B1G1 free for the 3.5oz Wonka Exceptionals bars.
Walgreens has Woolite on sale, if you use the $3/1 from the 5/1 Smart source you can get it for 2.99, pretty good for a 50oz bottle.
I feel dumb founded. I am fairly new at this but I am having a hard time understanding about using 2 of the same coupon in the same transaction. Like for instance the suave lotion “deal idea” with using 2-BOGO coupons. Can you do that even though on the manufactor coupon it says limit one coupon per purchase? Please explain. Also I am having a hard time finding some manufacture coupons that are said to be in the sunday paper. Doesn’t everyone get the same coupons? Thanks for any advise.
Karen – Limit one coupon per purchase really means “limit one coupon per item,” not limit one coupon per person/transaction. So if you’re using, say, a $1/1 coupon to buy shampoo, you can use as many $1/1 coupons as you have shampoos that you’re purchasing. Does that make sense?
As for manufacturer’s coupons, not all areas/papers get the same coupons. Carrie’s written about that before in this post: http://www.pocketyourdollars.com/2010/02/4-reasons-your-newspaper-may-have-different-coupons-than-your-neighbor/
Hope this helps!
I’m really bummed that in southern WI we did not get the coupon for the contact solution! If there is anyone that will not be using theirs that would be willing to give them to me or trade, that would be great!
Ashley-
I have several of them that I won’t be using. You can have them, or if there are any coupons you don’t want we could trade. Email me at soulpatrolmn @ yahoo.com
I have six. Reply here if you are interested and I will give you my email if you are still interested
The Cub at 66th and Nicollet used to take RRs, but have stopped doing so. What Cub stores still accept them?
Cub in Elk River and Cub in Rogers both take them still.
We need a RR database that tells us which stores we’ve had success using RRs.
I am pretty sure I have heard it said that the Eden Prairie Cub is RR friendly. Anyone want to vouch for that store? (I use to work near it, and liked it a lot.)
I’m not super far from that store, and if they’re RR friendly then I may make a trip there since I have about 10 RRs right now and would like to liquidate them rather than try to roll them into more contact lens solution I won’t use.
This list could be out-dated, but check out this post: http://www.pocketyourdollars.com/2010/05/walgreens-register-rewards-redeemable-at-stores-besides-walgreens/
Cub in Cottage Grove accepts them, even after three months after expiration date!
Does anyone know where the dinner coupons from the prevacid can be used at?
A catalina-type slip will print out at the register, and you can go online and select your restaurant from a list, using the code printed on the slip. The availability changes though; I was trying to decide which restaurant to choose and when I went to make a selection, the one that was my first choice was already gone.
I’m still impressed that I can find the Fusion Proglide razors at Wags considering they’ve been doing this deal for three weeks now. My past experience has been that great razor deals such as this are out of stock by the end of the week. I hadn’t tried since week 1, but I went this morning and found some of the fancy ones, with travel size lotions and creams in them at Wags 1. I prefer the basic package with two blades rather than the power razors or the deluxe packages with freebies, but I took what I could get since I was already getting other stuff. Went to Wags 2 this afternoon, they had several of the basic packaging left. Went back to Wags 1 to cash in my two $8 RRs for the contact solution and found a stray Proglide with two blades in the package. I’m about out of Proglide coupons finally, good luck if you’re still looking for these.
Listerine Total Care Whitening 500ml size.
$3 off with in-ad coupon (brings it down to $3.29)
$1/1 from RP 5/22
Makes it be $2.29 a bottle
Thanks Beth
Can anyone comment on a good place to pick up plastic wrap? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a coupon for it, and if someone knows what store has the best price on it I’d love to hear. Thanks!
Alex
Alex – I just got some at Aldi for $1.29/200sqft.
The Wonka candy bars 2/$3 use with the coupon BOGO Free in the 5/22 SS would make the candy bars $.75 each. These are great candy bars!
There is a $4 Catalina when you buy 2 Listerine Whitening Rinse. It makes for 2 FREE after RR when you combine the $3 in-ad coupon (deducts $6 for 2 bottles) with 2- $1 manufacturer coupons.
Bought banana boat sunscreen this week at walgreens. It was on sale for $7.99, each bottles was all bonus bottles AND had a $1.00 coupon attached to the bottle. When she rang it up they not only rang up at $7.99, but buy one, get one half off. So I bought $25 worth and also got the $10 RR, yea.
Is that a good price for the Little Swimmers? I didn’t realize Wags had change their in store coupons and now it is throwing my shopping trip off. Below will be my shopping trip:
1st Transaction
Contact Solution – $7.99
Scunci – $2
Use $1/1 coupon and pay $9.00 and Receive $10 RR
2nd Transaction
Little Swimmers – $6.99
2 Milk @ $1.99 – $4
Tuna – $.89
Use $2/1 and $10 RR and pay $0 OOP
This is still new to me, so I hope that is a good deal.
Can I use a walgreens coupon and a manufacture coupon on the same product?
terra–
You can stack a manufacturer coupon with a Walgreens coupon from the weekly ad. You cannot stack a coupon from Walgreens’ monthly coupon book with a manufacturer coupon since Walgreens recently changed the book coupons from being a store coupon to being a manufacturer coupon. Hope that helps :)
Just an FYI . .when I bought the Advil/Thermassage deal the register didn’t print the RR. . . finally got the RR after the cashier called 2 different managers. 20 minutes later they figured out that it didn’t generate since the thermassage was a bonus pkg but agreed it should have generated the RR anyway since it was the right product and count etc. Love the deals but its always a huge ordeal at Wags.
I bought two advils today and also didn’t get a RR. I asked why and then was told that it was possibly because I used RR (from Dove). The manager, who was very nice, refunded my advil to see if re-ringing it would work, unfortunately it didn’t so he decided to just credit me $5. So I walk out with:
Tone Body Wash
Bayer Extra Strenth ($0.24 with wal greens/MQ)
Advil Liquid Gels
Advil PM
Jello x2
And Scunci hair binders all for $4.27 plus I got $5RR for the Tone and Scunci. :)
so I was just thinking that if Walmart does ad match and competitor coupons, would they ad match the Gillette razors that are on special at Walgreens for 4.89 (after register rewards)? If they do, I think it would be alot easier to pick them up at Walmart instead of Walgreens because they usually have a pretty good stock on those kind of things and I could pick up whatever how many I want. What do you guys think about that? Please leave comment. THANKS!!!!
I have a question! Did I miss a deal on New Skin liquid bandage? I have been waiting for this to go on sale since i saw it in walgreens book I got another coupon from their website. I want to wait for a sale but the thing is I need it now. Bummer but if I missed it at least I know that I should go ahead and get it! Thanks!
i just pick up huggies little swimmers to day, i had no problem using may bucklet coupon $2 off and manufacturers coupon $2 off, end deal 2.99.
Same question here as on the CVS thread. Is the $5 Register Reward earned considered before or after the coupons are deducted? Thanks.
The RR is considered earned before coupons just as ECBs at CVS.
