Comments

  1. Julie says:

Are there any ways to get multiple copies of this booklet?

    • Lisa says:

They’ve always had them at the Customer Service counter when I’ve asked. I noticed that this new booklet said “not available in store.” Maybe they’ve said that all along, but they always have it in store too.

      • Amanda says:

I drive up from Northfield and have even talked to corp. customer service about getting on a mailing list and was told they would be unable because I’m out of area.. It’s nice to know I can try to request one through the store counter.

Yes, please be considerate to those who can’t get these in the mail :)

    • Lisa O says:

Please be considerate, as customer service is the only way I can get one. I am a regular Rainbow customer but don’t get the coupon books in my mail because I’m out of the mailing area; I’ve tried calling Roundy’s customer service and gave them my address and I’ve still not received them. The customer service has always been generous enough to give me one (1) when I explain I don’t get the books mailed to me. I get excited (don’t we all??) about the coupon books, and would hate for them to be gone when I drive 45 minutes for the deals. Thanks!

  2. Lynnea says:

How do they determine which households get them? Is it sent to people with Roundy’s cards, or just people living near a Rainbow foods?

    • Kathy says:

It came in the Thursday Red Plum circular delivered by the postal service. Mine is addressed to “Resident” at my address, so I think everyone in the area gets it. There are other pieces with it including Lowe’s, Dish network, Tractor Supply, Dominos, Progressive and Direct TV.

    • Amanda says:

I’m a roundy card holder, but live 25 miles from the closest rainbow, so they would not add me to the list even on a request. It has to do with your location in relation to the store.
      :-)

  3. Penny says:

Don’t one of the two coupons for each deal say “one coupon per item purchased”? How do you apply two coupons to one item? Dbl coupons are great! Does Roundy’s dbl their store coupons, or *only* manufacturer’s coups?

  4. Amber says:

Do these coupons work well with manufactorer’s coupons? I haven’t tried these with stacking them before.

  5. jason says:

I’ve seen this coupon craziness on facebook with some of my friends, where they get 12 bottles of mustard.

But my question is, do any stores take more than one manufacturer coupon for any one item?

  6. Jill Pearson says:

Does any one know how much juicy juice is this week at rainbow and cottonelle flushable wipes?

  7. Lindsey says:

Looks like Juicy Juice is on sale for $1.29. Not sure about the cottonelle.

If you go to Rainbows website, sign in, click on Ads/Coupons – there is a box to search for items. Sometimes it pops up with a price. Very helpful tool to use when planning your trip for Double Double Daze!

    • Jill Pearson says:

Thats how much after the coupon in the booklet? Thanks lot of help i will check it out :)

    • Jill Pearson says:

I’m signed up for this savings deal with my android and if i buy jj I will also get a buck rebate :) Called saving star! It’s awsome. You cash out when you reach $5.oo on your roundys card

    • Violet says:

Thanks so much for this tip – I had no idea I could do that!

  8. Lindsey says:

I dont see a JJ coupon in the Rainbow booklet – only Welchs? But there is a $1/2 coupon on the JJ website to double and get 2 for $.58!!

  9. Jill Pearson says:

are you allowed to do 3 different transactions at the register?

    • JoAnna says:

      Jill–
Most around here suggest 2 at a time as a max. If it’s busy I stick to one to be respectful to those in line behind me. If the store is pretty empty 3 would probably be acceptable–check with your cashier.

    • Benny says:

If you want to be nice, do 1 transaction, take it to your car, return to store, do another transaction. I keep a cooler in my trunk to do this so I can keep my frozen/cold stuff cold.

If you are notorious for doing more than 1 transaction they will take notice at Roundy’s stores.

It drives the CSR’s at the service desk nuts and if the people at the register take too long they get into trouble.

This is actually part of the reason the employees (Who I believe are still unionized) are trying to get Roundy’s to drop double double days because of the stress it causes them with people coming through the lines with 2-5 transactions.

I was speaking with the CSR at my customer service desk to get something correct on Wednesday from a receipt last Saturday when we had the double double coupons and because the girl had made a mistake on my receipt and I mentioned that I think the error was caused because she was in a massive hurry. Reason being is I was third in line over an almost 1 hour period near store closing and the 1st person in line had 3-4 orders that took her over 30 minutes to ring up because she was splitting orders.

Do two max and only do two max if…
you have them separated in your cart and can quickly put them on the conveyor
you have your coupons ready and sorted into two piles for each transaction
you have your payment out and ready to go, cash preferrable, CC is ok too, but DONT WRITE CHECKS
you have your rewards card ready to scan

Failing to do these things will increase wait times for other customers and is just rude. If people continue this Roundy’s could do away with some of those policies that make shopping during double coupons excellent.

      • Michele says:

Benny, On one point I respectfully disagree, I believe that double double daze are actually less crazy because you can use 10 coupons and not have to do so many transactions in order to double the coupons that you want to use that week. For example…if I had 20 coupons that I wanted to use, ordinarily I would have to do 4 transactions and calculate whether or not I made the $25.00 threshold. On double double daze I would only have to do 2 transactions and I have never had a problem making the $25.00 threshold. I even had a cashier tell me not to worry about the people behind me, that she believed that no one should pay more for the groceries then they have too. It was a Wednesday evening and for some reason I was having a difficult time calculating the threshold, which has never happened to me before. I always have my transactions separated and coupons and payment ready. They know me so well they even know which form of payment to enter after they scan the coupons.

        • connie says:

I usually do 2 at a time, and I have everything ready on the stand so the cashier can just grab coupons, card, my credit card is ready, etc. I don’t want anyone to wait for me.
I did have a rather long checkout the other day. I had rainchecks in both orders, and these take considerable time for the cashier to figure out how much to reduce the product x how many products, etc. They are usually bringing out the calculator, and it is very time consuming. I have decided to help with the figuring by doing it ahead of time to speed it up. Also, I may not do 2 orders at a time when I have rainchecks.
We don’t want couponers to get a bad name:>)

        • Benny says:

It is less crazy for us as couponers who don’t have to calculate out the orders etc. It is worse for the cashiers because as couponers we know the ins and outs of the coupons better. The double double daze brings in a lot of people (my store is almost empty by night time and it is a super pick n save) and everyone always feels they are right and fight every little thing no matter what. The reason they have issues with the double double daze is they are not actually equipped to handle it. They should probably have almost every register opened on double double daze but they dont.

Some people do go in there with the expectation of doing 3-4 transactions in a single cartload on double double daze which really slows the line down because you need to make sure you have all the extra items properly seperated so you don’t throw too many coupon items into one of the wrong transactions.

      • MJ says:

Maybe we should all suggest that Rainbow gives 5 double coupons for each $25.00 spent. Then there’s no reason to split orders. If I had $30.00 of groceries, I could double 5 coupons. If I had $76 of groceries, I could double 15.

      • Denise says:

I have to disagree with part of what you said. I was at Rainbow in Coon Rapids last Saturday, and we talked with a couple of cashiers about this. The general consensus was that two transactions was acceptable to them, as long as you are organized and have all of your coupons ready to keep things moving along. I have been there before where people have done a lot of transactions, and have not been organized/ready at the register. One cashier said that they had a lady one night that took 33 minutes to check out! I don’t do more than two transactions, and I have my coupons out and organized and my money ready. I don’t feel I take any longer with 2 small transactions than I would with one large one, as I used to do before I learned how to coupon ;) And, I do think I’m “nice”.

        • Benny says:

Yup, it happened to me last week. I went around closing to pickup a couple of things and get another DiGiorno rain check and the lady at the checkout took like 40 minutes. I was in line for almost an hour and when I got into line I was third.

      • Penny says:

Benny–thanks for taking the time to share this. Just like we expect our stores to offer great/corteous (sp?) service and good deals, if we as customers abuse it (by breaking our purchases in multi-transactions, by using multiple coupons one one item when the coupon clearly says “ONE COUPON PER ITEM PURCHASED”, etc, then we’re doing ourselves, each other, the store, and even our children a disservice.

They watch you as you try to buck the system.

It’s plain unethical, and truly sets the wrong tone overall.

There are good deals without being sneaky or abrasive.

Why not just follow the (simple) rules???

    • Erin says:

My Rainbow has a sign that asks customers to do no more than two transactions in the line at one time. Seems reasonable to me.

  10. Lynnea says:

I normally do one, but last night it was right at closing, so I did 2, then came back to do 3. She didn’t mind though…I’m sure she wanted to close up the store. I try to be respectful of other shoppers.

  11. Dawn N says:

These deals just make Saturday double double days even better. Thanks for having this ready so soon.

  12. Val says:

I can’t find the Colgate 6.4 oz. Toothpaste or Colgate Plus Toothbrush $0.75/1 in the 5/1 Smart Source insert. Is it there?

  13. Dawn N says:

I don’t see the Pop Tart coupon?

  14. rachel says:

Great point Benny! I agree with you and appreciate your thoughts. It seems a little overboard to do more than 1 or 2 transactions at most at a time. I feel like that anything more is not right, and is what gives couponeers a bad wrap.

  15. Linda says:

Does anyone have extra BOGO coupon for Old Spice? I am willing to exchange with other coupons. Thanks.

  16. Jill Pearson says:

Mr Clean MR CLEAN SPRY LAVENDAR VAN 32 OZ SALE – $1.25
    $.75/1 home made simple
    Free after doubled coupon

  17. Kelley says:

For the people that want more heavy values coupon books….I just drive around the parking lot and find a lot of books left in carts or thrown on the ground and there is usually 1-2 coupons gone, sometimes full books! So you wouldn’t be taking any books away from the service counter. You are just taking the ones that customers don’t want :) -Kelley

  18. Nicole says:

My RayoVac printable wasn’t accepted at Forest Lake Rainbow Foods. They said they haven’t been accepting them all day and that they are invalid or “fake” coupons. FYI

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Nicole – Which Rayovac coupon did you have? The one from Facebook or the Smart Source one?

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Nicokle – I checked the CIC’s list of fake coupons (http://www.couponinformationcenter.com/coupon-fraud-list.php?st=84bc3) and it isn’t there, so I believe both coupons are legit, even though tht store refused them for some reason.

    • Benny says:

I had the same problem. I used the Smart Source one. They were ringing up as Do Not Accept and I was a little taken aback when the snooty little teenager helping the new girl at the register implied I was trying to commit fraud.

Only thing I could think of was it does state in the fine print “One Coupon (Any Kind) Per Purchase”

Maybe Roundy’s has it setup in their registers so you can’t use store with this coupon together?

  19. billie says:

The Rainbow in West St Paul wouldn’t take my rayovac coupon either. I printed mine from facebook.

  20. juli says:

Is there a place where I can send the coupons that I don’t need for others to use? It’s just me and my husband and there are lots of coupons I think others can use. diapers, drinks, juices, cereals etc.

    • Dee Dee says:

@Juli re sending coupons you don’t use

I heard that some folks mail them to military bases but prefer that you at least divide them into food and none-food piles. Hope this helps.

Oh, and I am happy to take them off your hands but if you find a person/ group in need or a way to send them to the military that would be great too.

  21. Sam says:

I was trying to get the creamette coupons mentioned but it only has Ronzini (wish I had them last week!). They are printing off the Creamette website but it doesn’t say anything about Creamette on the coupon. Will it work with the store coupon for Creamette?

  22. Tammy says:

I can’t find coupon’s for stride gum and pert shampoo in my St. Paul sunday paper? can anyone tell me where to get these coupon’s please?
    Thank you,
    Tammy

  23. Julie says:

I also tried to use the Rayovac coupon at Pick n Save in Stoughton, WI, yesterday and was told it was coming up as “recalled” and they wouldn’t take it.

  24. Gina says:

Does anyone know, is the Quick Cook included in the Creamette pasta deal?
