Coborn’s Shopping List 4/17 – 4/23/11 (Incl Double Coupon Tuesday)

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

This list includes sale items from Coborn’s ad along with the best deals from their most recent Penny Pincher ad (based on reader’s input). Please leave a comment if you see a deal we’ve missed.

We don’t regularly post Coborn’s coupon matchups, but since Coborn’s is doubling the face value of 10 manufacturer coupons valued at $1.00 or less every Tuesday through 4/30/11, we thought you might want to know some of the best deals if you have a Coborn’s store near you.

The ad states that there is a limit of 1 on the double coupon promotion and it doesn’t say anything about a minimum purchase required; however, it doesn’t apply to manufacturer’s coupons that are not valid for doubling (so if it says “do not double” on it, they won’t double it). In addition, Coborn’s is also running a promotion on select food items on different days of the week through 4/30.

Also, check with your Coborn’s to see if they take expired coupons. It’s been reported that the Elk River Coborn’s takes coupons 90 days past the expiration date.

Comments

  1. Mary says:

I noticed that there was Penny Pincher coupon for fresh pineapple for $2.69. If a Coborns shopper lives anywhere near a Cashwise, they are on sale for $1.99.

  2. Paulette says:

Thanks again for doing a Coborns list! Because of your lists last week I got $80 worth of grocery basics for $40 including meat! Now I know 50% does not seem great but for Coborns this is awesome! Coborns is my only local option. I would have to drive about 25 miles to get to a Cub, Walmart or Target. With Gas at the price it is you can figure that I saved another $5-8 depending on which vehicle I would have driven.

  3. jenni says:

the All detergent should be$1.99 after doubled coupon

  4. Deann says:

Hi, Not sure what I’m doing wrong to get the miracle whip c on facebook. Help Please!!

  5. Missy says:

The Coborn’s by my house (Ramsey) did not accept my printable coupon about a month ago. Not sure if their terms have changed since then…

    • Danielle says:

My Coborn’s (Princeton) ALWAYS accepts printed coupons! I would talk w/ a manager!

    • Katie says:

Last week at Coborn’s in Ramsey they took my printable coupons but wouldn’t take expired coupons. I had used expired coupons a few weeks prior and it was fine. I guess it just depends on the cashier.

    • Lisa says:

It depends upon the store…I believe each store manager is able to set their own policy. The store I work at accepts printable coupons, but we cashiers get in trouble if we accept expired coupons.

  6. Dana Burke says:

    Wouldn’t $1/1 off the $3.99 ALL be $1.99 instead of .99?

    • amber says:

      Dana,
You are correct :-) I updated the list to reflect the correct price. I guess it was wishful thinking!

  7. Deann says:

Can anybody help on the face book offer for the miracle whip? Thanks!!

    • Tina says:

Sorry but there is not one! I went on the website and looked for this too and they actually said there is no coupon at this time just free samples!

  8. Lisa says:

wouldn’t the ALL detergent be 1.99? and is this still a good price? Also the Miracle whip and cheese coupons are manufacturer coupons that are in store coupons….so we are not able to stack these right? I am new to this any help would be appreciated :0)

    Thanks!

  9. Gennifer says:

The in-store coupon is actually a Man. coupon for the Mayo, Cheese and dressing.

  10. abbey says:

    Question…please help!
How do you use the “penny pincher coupon to get the sale price”? Are these store coupons? I know of ppgazette.com for Penny Pincher but I thought that was all Manu. coupons? I’m headed for double Tuesday tomorrow and want to make sure I’m not missing out..thanks in advance!

    • Beth says:

Penny Pincher is a special mailing that comes in your mailbox. If you don’t get one you can go to customer service and aske for a penny pincher book.

  11. Rachelle says:

I love that you have Coborn’s as one of the stores available. It makes my life much easier! However, Coborn’s is known for having higher prices than say Cash Wise, and the deals and in-store coupons can vary from location to location. I would be forever grateful if CASH WISE was added to the store lists!

  12. Shel says:

The Kemps BOGO ice cream was $6.39 so I didn’t think that was a great deal…I ended up buying the store brand (Food Club) instead…a pail (5qt size?) was on sale for $3.99.

  13. Tina says:

There is no Printable coupon for the Kraft Miracle Whip or Mayonnaise on face book just a link for a free sample!!! Thanks for all you DO!!! It is truly appreciated! :)

  14. Lisa O says:

Here’s what Coborns coupon policy says, which may explain some of the above issues:

We will gladly accept manufacturer coupons that have been
clipped from newspapers or magazines as well as internet coupons that have been printed by the customer.
    Manufacturer Coupons

    * One (1) coupon per product purchased
    * Coupon must match the item purchased(brand, product, and size)
    * All coupons must have an expiration date
    * Coupons cannot be expired
    * Coupons must contain a redemption address
    * Coupons must scan at the register
    * Original coupons only; photocopies cannot be accepted

    Internet Coupons

    * Internet coupons are subject to the same requirements listed above
    * We do not accept internet coupons for FREE items.
    * We do not accept home printed manufacturer coupons that offer $ OFF (i.e. $1.00, $2.00, $3.00 OFF) that exceed more than half the retail price of the product.

We gladly accept legitimate internet coupons. However, there are a growing number of fraudulent internet coupons in circulation. We are committed to protecting our customers, manufacturers, and our company against this illegal activity. Please understand if we cannot honor an internet coupon that has been presented. Management has the right to refuse any coupon or to limit quantities. Coborn’s reserves the right to withdraw the acceptance of internet coupons.

  15. Lisa O says:

Also–the penny pincher coupons (I’m pretty sure) are only coborns online. You can download them off their website.

  16. Helen says:

Question for all of you from this newb!
Coborn’s has Gillette Deodorant on sale for 3.49
In the 4/3 P&G Insert there was a 1.00 off coupon for Gillette deodorant AND a coupon that offered a free Gillette Body Wash with the purchase of a Gillette deodorant…AND…there was also a coupon offering a free Gillette Body Wash with the purchase of a Gillette Body Wash.
Question is…can I used the 1.00 off coupon (doubled since its double tuesday) making the price of the deodorant 1.49 and get 2 Gillette Body washes as well???

  17. Hockeymom says:

I shopped this morning and got 12 rolls of toilet paper, 4 packages of Rhodes buns, 2 Colgate toothpastes, 8 cans of Dole pineapple, 2 Lawrey’s marinades, 6 bars of Zest soap, 8 containers of MN Wild Kemps ice cream, 2 loaves of bread and one package of fruit snacks all for $21.32.

  18. oksana says:

Uncle Bens whole grain rice runs for $1.93 – use .75 Q (exp 5/15) – $.43 after double Qs

Old Orchard Juice Blend are $1.99 – there’s printable of .50 off on their website (I was able to print it out yesterday) – so $.99 after double Qs

Hefty storage- freezer bags are 2/$3 – use 1$/2 Q – .50 each after double Qs.
My store was out of Lawry’s Marinades, but they give you a raincheck on those.

  19. Stacy says:

The Elk River Coborns, will except expired coupons w/in 90days of expiration and printed coupons, however they will not let you do two transactions on the same lane (even when there is no customers behind you in line). Of course I found this our after I had unloaded my entire cart.

  20. Helen says:

    Update and shopping report!
On the Gillette deodorant/body wash question. They would not let me roll the three coupons. Oh well.
On my shopping trip I purchased. Gallon of milk, dozen eggs, 2 kraft shredded cheeses, 2 gallon size zip-lock baggies, 2 lawrys marinades, 2 kraft salad dressings, 2 liters of pepsi, Miracle Whip dressing, a bag of hash browns, 3 bags of birdseye frozen veggies, a loaf of bread, 4 cans of corn and 2 packs of stride gum. My total was $17.56 after coupons :)
My first shopping trip where I saved over 50%!!
Thanks again for including Coborn’s in your match-up during their double coupon days!!
PS: There are also many many items at Coborn’s that are on “drop down” price. They aren’t listed in the weekly ad though!

  21. AmberG says:

At the New Prague location the “in store” coupon for the Kraft Mayo was actually a manufacture coup printed on yellow paper. The self check out was not allowing both “their” coupon and my manufacture, but the self check out lady waived it and “pushed” it through.

    • Melissa says:

Same thing for the Kraft cheese, the $1 in store coupon was a manufacturers coupon, so I passed on the cheese since it ended up being $1.50 each, which is over my buy price…..,

  22. Jennifer says:

Folgers is $7.99, use $1.00 off coupon doubled (I think it was in the 4/10 paper, can’t remember if it was RP or SS) today to get it for $5.99.

  23. Anna says:

5 bags of Kraft cheese, 2 loaves of bread and 1 Kraft mayo…….4.55 saved over 80%

too bad the “in store coupons” were man coupons, and too bad they didn’t have any more of the kraft with phil because i found some $1/1 coupons on a tearpad. The cheese coupons didn’t double at first and i asked why, they looked at it and said “i don’t know why” so i said well, i i don’t want them then because they will double at Rainbow so i’ll just save them……then they decided to manually enter them, saying that some coupons are not doubling for no reason and customers are annoyed.
Be careful and make sure everything goes through as it should :)

  24. GB says:

Thanks Carrie for doing these Coborn’s grocery lists and have an easy place to search for coupons. I was not a coupon user in the past but became very interested after watching some of the couponing shows. My husband and I have been having fun comparing how much we’ve saved on Tuesdays at Coborns. We shop at different Coborns close to our jobs. It’s been nice stocking up on cereal and other items we buy all the time. I’ll never buy cereal without a coupon again. We haven’t figured out how some people are saving 90%+, but seeing a 60% savings last week on a receipt was great for us. One more week to go! Thanks again and others for your input and comments to find coupons and sale prices.

  25. Paulette says:

My Local Coborns (Princeton)had lovely signs posted all over the place yesterday that the “coupons would be limited to 10 per customer per day”.

I heard 1 cashier tell an upset customer that they “could just finish their shopping 15 miles down the road in Elk River”

I’m Going back to avoiding Coborns at all cost. They are not community friendly (in our town anyway). and have made me feel more than once that they do not want or need my business.

    • Beth says:

They do have a ten coupon policy for the double coupon day. They probably had too many people coming back multiple times per day. If people really need the stuff, they can go to the Coborns down the road. I was more then happy to only have to pay $50 for my $90 worth of groceries yesterday!

Don’t forget that next week is the last week for their Double Coupon Special so make sure you are all prepared with your 10 best coupons! I’d go for the $1 off coupons to get the most off your bill!

      • Paulette says:

Congrats on your savings. I had similar results the previous week but did have 2 transactions. Coborns needs to spell these things out from the beginning, not the 2nd to last week. I actually only took advantage of the double coupon days 2 or 3 times over the 8 (or so) weeks they offered it this time around. The deals the other weeks FOR ME were not worth the extra drive into town. With the price of gas right now I am very stingy with how much I drive. If I drive the 20 miles “just down the road” then I am not saving any $.

I have had some experience in dealing with our Coborns and they have not been known to be super supportive of the community.

I can choose not to support a business that I do not agree with.

I still appreciate Carrie doing a Coborns list during this special. We all need to do what is best for our families and our conscience.
