Cub Foods Shopping List 3/27 – 4/2/11

This week, Cub Foods shoppers will want to keep an eye for a new in-store coupon booklet that contains a few manufacturer’s coupons (nothing too noteworthy), but also has a coupon for a $25 Cub Foods gift card with a new or transferred prescription.

Since Cub Foods’ stores accept manufacturer-issued coupons up to 3 months past their expiration date (and in some cases up to 5 or 6 months past) some of those referenced on this list are expired. If you are new to Pocket Your Dollars, then learn to read this shopping list. If you are having issues, troubleshoot problems printing coupons here.

Remember that this is a starting list of deals for the week. As readers leave comments with bargains they found at their local store or we get emails with deal ideas, we will update this list. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

  1. Brenda

I thought the Green Giant canned vegetables were a pretty good deal at 2 for $1… considering they are normally $1.29 per can…

  2. JoAnna

The cereal in the milk deal are pretty small boxes–still decent deal?

    1. steve

I think it is a good deal if you use coupons.

    2. Katherine

I think it’s a good deal IF you factor in the milk free. It’s not as fabulous as a Rainbow cereal deal, but not bad!

      1. Michael

How much time do you get to redeem the milk?

        1. JoAnna

Good question, Michael-especially if you want to use the Q at a diff store. Cub does accept MQ expired.

      2. Dana

If you look at the picture in the ad, the varieties listed in the $1.67 deal are limited. So some of these coupons will not work to bring the price down to 67c a box…

    3. danielle

I was able to get three boxes of cereal, milk, marshmallows and 2lbs of bananas for $3.41. I am new to this couponing thing and thought it was a pretty good deal.

    4. Ruth

The boxes are small, but you won’t find milk for under $2/gallon, so if you factor in that it brings the cereal down to about $0.30/box. If you get 12 and turn in the UPCs, you’ll basically end up about $6.40 ahead. This is the best Cub deal in awhile. I will be getting it and I RARELY go to Cub anymore.

  3. rachael

I am never too impressed with Cub’s “deals” unless it’s the buy 10 get $5 off (or fun promos like that). Otherwise I tend to stick to Aldi’s for things I can’t get with coupons at Walgreens and Target.

    1. steve

Cub’s ads are very pathetic these days. I am spending almost no money at Cub.

      1. Lisa

I second that Steve. I never go there anymore. Ever!

        1. Sarah

I agree, here, too! And I live in their hometown! Come on Cub! Give us some better deals! Until you do, we are shopping elsewhere!

          1. Traci

I fourth that! Cub is very disappointing lately :(

  4. Christina

Has anyone gotten the free milk coupon for the kellogg’s deal and can verify that it is a manufacturer Q and what the value and wording are on the coupon? I’m also wondering if you can buy more than 9 cereals in one transaction and get more than three milk coupons. For example, if I buy 12 cereals, will I get 4 milk coupons?

    1. steve

It is a manufacture coupon for up to $3.59 off of one gallon of milk. The $3.59 does not come off automatically when scanned. He looked up my milk price and entered it on the coupon.

  5. SG

I purchased cereal today and found additional peel off coupons on the many of the boxes at the Burnsville location. One was for $1.00 off fruit when you buy 2 Kelloggs cereals and the other was for a free bag (up to $2.99 value) of M & M’s when you buy 2 Kelloggs cereals. I combined these coupons with the coupons I already had to get a great deal..plus two free gallons of milk since I bought 6 boxes.

    1. sharon

I found a peelie on Rice Krispies for $1.50 off any marshmallows when you buy two. Cub’s 16-ounce bag of marshmallows was $1.59. The M&Ms coupon is a higher value deal, plus if you get the Spring M&Ms you’ve got a great Easter basket filler.

      1. danielle

I couldn’t find any that had the M and M coupon on it. fruit and marshmallows.

  6. Jackie

I got the milk coupon. It is a manufacturer q mine has a expiration date of 4/10/11. I agree cub has not had very good deals. You really have to go in and look aisle to aisle for the manager’s specials to find random deals. You can’t just count on the ads anymore.

  7. Deb

I tried to print the $2 coupon for the silk soy milk and I could not find it. It went directly to the .75 coupon.

    1. Laura Wales

Deb – I was able to get the coupon after registering for a new account and completing the service.

      1. SarahBeth

Do you think if we have any of these cereals in our stock-piles we could use the UPC codes from those boxes instead of buying new? It does not sound like a receipt is needed to show date of purchase.

        1. GoodDeedGirl

Yes, In the post about this offer Carrie said you could.

    3. Brenda

I assume that they have a typo on the “must by received by”, don’t you think?
It says must be postmarked by 12/31/11 and then “must be received by 1/7/11″… guessing they meant 2012, don’t you think?

      1. Karie

Yes, above right on the form does say ” received by 01/07/2012″

        1. TAMMY

The “instore coupon book” that is mentioned has come in handy. Since January, it has changed monthly. The coupons arn’t that great as Carrie says, but each month they have had the $25.00 pharmacy coupon in it. The coupons expire at the end of the month, so each new month is a new coupon and so we have been able to use one each month since January when my husband picks up his prescriptions. Thanks Cub!. (The coupons are good on new or transferred perscriptions.)

  10. rachael

    …or maybe it states up to 50 upc ….not 5 per household….

  11. Jaz

Thank you very much for the rebate form. I was going to get some Krispies Cocoa for the kids anyway. The rebate says, Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal. Can someone let me know if this mean it includes the cocoa flavor too? Thanks much in advance.

    1. Karie

I say not, and wouldn’t want to risk it. The list is pretty detailed with the different types listed.

  12. Dana

It sure seems like it’s been a LONG time since cheese was $1 for 8oz… so the Cub cheese for $1.67 seems like a good deal to me. Has the price of cheese gone up? Where are those $1 sales lately?

    1. Jenny

Actually at Rainbow cheese will be 66 cents for Kraft after double coupon, so I would pass on this cheese deal

  13. Steph

My cub ad has yoplait light or thick & creamy yogurt 20 for $10. If you use the .40 off 6 from the 3-27 SS that makes it .43 per yogurt.

    1. Steph

Plus when I was in the store today I saw you got a $2 off your next purchase (catalina, I assume) with the purchase of 20. So if you buy 20 yogurts for $10, minus $1.20 (3 $0.40 coupons from 3/27 SS) & the $2 off you next purchase, 20 yogurts would end up being $0.34 a piece! =)

      1. Andrew

I seem to remember in the past that the $2 off coupon was actually something like “one free yogurt cup, upto $2 value” so only really was worth $0.50. Anyone got the catalina recently?

  14. Nancy

Cub can’t compete with the other stores on prices because their parent company, Super Value, is hurting financially since they bought the Albertsons chain a while back. I do spend a few outdated coupons on sale items at Cub once in awhile. That’s about it!
I saw much more money at Rainbow….doubling coupons & saving money at the gas pump with the fuel perks & a nickel for each reusable bag I use instead of theirs.

  15. Sue

Anybody know how much the Sylvania CFL light bulbs are running? Thanks.

  16. Katie

    what is cubs coupon policy?

    1. steve

      My Cub three months expired.

  17. Sue

I don’t see the $1/1 Smart Start cereal coupon on Kelloggs web site.

    1. andrew

FYI, Smart Start is not included in the sale anyways.

  18. MKD

I thought the cereal deal at Cub was fantastic.

    For about $12 I got:
5 boxes of the 18 oz Corn flakes
4 boxes of the 12 oz boxes of Rice Krispies
    2 – 12 oz bags of M&Ms
Plus I’ll get $10 back in gas (I had one upc code at home so I have my 10 boxes now)
    Plus 3 gallons of Milk

  19. cindy

I also had a great day buying cereal, m&ms, milk and kiwi. I found an abundance of peelies at the Stillwater cub, on the cereals.

  20. Meredith

Cub circular that came in the mail on Wednesday has a $1 off any Healthy Choice product. Get them for final price of $1 with the Cub sale this week.

  21. Andrew

Sounds like a good deal on cereal, I will need to find another plastic bin to store them in.
Hopefully you all haven’t grabbed all the peelies when I make it into my Cub. ;)

    1. cindy

Andrew, I hope you find the ones you need/want. Since the peelies were good on 2 boxes of cereal (like buy 2 boxes, get $1 off produce), I think we all ended up with extra ones. Sure added to the fun.

  22. andrew

Can you do more than 9 Kelloggs in one transaction and get more than 3 milk Cats? Anyone try it?

    1. Christina

Yes, you can. I bought 15 cereals and got 5 cats.

      1. andrew

        Thanks!
I cant get my coupons to line up in multiples of three without going over 9.

    2. cindy

I bought 27 cereals and got 9 cats … customer service wasn’t able to answer my question so I just/simply tried it.

  23. Heidi

I used the printable coupon for $3 / 2 boxes of Wild Harvest cereal. The coupon showed up on the receipt (even charging me 1 cent) but did not credit the $3. The cashier at the service desk refunded it. Not sure if this is a problem with the coupon or with the varieties I bought.

  24. Priscilla

I received a new coupon booklet in the mail today with a nice $5 off a $50 purchase coupon on the front!

  25. Kathi

The cashier wouldn’t take my expired internet printed coupon today – I only had one – she said that they never have taken expired IPs. I’m sure I have used expired IPs there before, but maybe not. Have others run into this also, or was it possibly just that cashier?

  26. Beth C.

Lunchables are on sale for $1 each. There are peelies on the Sub Sandwich ones for $1 off 2 making them $0.50 each. They are mini subs with whole wheat bread and a tiny rice crispy square. My two girls had these with a cup of yogurt and 100% juice boxes. I had the lunchables with whole wheat crackers with two types of meat and cheese plus a tiny chocolate for desert. On Tuesdays, I pick my daughter up from school and head to our church for her piano lesson then bible study. No time for dinner at home. The girls thought the lunchables were fun. Plus, it was better then going through the drive through.
