Walgreens Shopping List 2/13 – 2/19/11

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

Deals at Walgreens this week include free floss or toothbrushes, a great deal on generic diapers and more.

If you’re new to Walgreens shopping, then learn how the Register Rewards program works and learn how to read this shopping list. Don’t forget that some other stores will accept Register Rewards like a manufacturer’s coupon. Also, it’s a good idea to print out Walgreens’ official coupon policy and keep it with you in case an issue comes up at checkout.

This is a starting list of deals for the week and is not a comprehensive list of every sale item and its coupons, but just the best deals (things at prices I’d actually pay). We will update this list as readers leave comments with bargains they found at their local store, we get emails with deal ideas or we read about other deals across the blogosphere. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week, we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

Walgreens is the one store where an advertised sale like “2/$4” usually requires you to buy two products. The first one rings at full price and the second product will ring at a lesser price to bring the total to $4, using our example. If you ever question whether you need to buy two to receive a sale price, ask the cashier to scan one item for you. If it rings at full price, then you know you need to buy two products. If it rings at the sale price, then you don’t.

Your turn: What other deals did you find at Walgreens?

Comments

  1. Erika says:

Where do they have the Infant Care coupon books in the store? Are they at the front next to the weekly ads and monthly coupon books?

  2. Kathy says:

Where do you get the Walgreens Infant Care coupon booklet? Is it in the store?

  3. Lisa says:

I was at the EP Wags off of 169 and Pioneer early this afternoon and they had some Valentine candy marked at 50% off already. Some of the individual little things, and regular and peanut M&Ms and some Hershey’s kisses.

  4. Sarah Sonnier says:

I asked a bunch of people and no on knew what the Infant Care booklet was. They do have a coup on those diapers coming out in the next regular coup book that will go into March, but not a great one.

  5. Meghan says:

At the north town walgreens the coupon books were in the cosmetics dept and also they had the coupons attached to some of the diaper packs. The packs were 699 each so with the b1g1 deal and the $2 off coupon it comes out to 1.49 a pack which is an amazing price!

  6. Jaime says:

At my Walgreens in Duluth the Infant Care coupon books were near the pharmacy where I get the Diabetes and you Magazine. They had a nice stack of them there.

  7. Erika says:

At the Plymouth store (494 and Rockford), they found a booklet for me behind the cosmetics counter.

Has anyone used Walgreens generic diapers before? I’m tempted to stock up but have never used their diapers so I’m a little hesitant. I usually use Huggies.

    • steve says:

We our now past the diaper stage. We used the Walgreens ones and loved them. There is a guarantee on them. If you are not happy you can return the unused ones for a full refund. You would be silly not to try them.

  8. Sarah Sonnier says:

Hum…I wonder if it is only in some states then. I am in Germantown, WI. Anyone in the area found them?

  9. Renae says:

I also had trouble finding the Walgreens Infant Care coupon booklet. I asked a manager, at the cosmetic counter, at the Pharmacy, and a couple of other clerks – not one person seemed to know what I was talking about. Sometimes Walgreen’s can be a bit frustrating. Any ideas??
    thanks for all your help.

  10. Melanie says:

I am also wondering if these diapers work well.

    • Karie says:

I’ve used the Wags pull-ups with my son from time to time, and they worked with no problems. If I still had one in diapers, I’d do a few of these BOGO’s….great deal!!

    • Sarah says:

I have used the W brand diapers in the past with no problems. I buy a couple packs to stock up on and keep at my grandmothers and at my parents house for when they are watching my daughter. That way I don’t always have to remember to bring diapers with. Or to keep on hand for when daycare suddenly realizes they’re out and I don’t have time to run to Target. For the few times they’re used they’re worth it.

      • Laura Wales says:

Sarah – I do the same thing with bringing packs of diapers to Grandma’s house – it’s so much easier and I think they really appreciate it. I usually bring them a tub of wipes, too. You can always keep a pack in the car, too – you never know when you might need it!

  11. Dave says:

Does anyone know where to find some Mitchum coupons to team up with the Walgreens in-ad coupon? Ive looked around online and came up with nothing.

    Thanks

  12. Nancy says:

I learned a few years ago that Walgreen’s generic brands are made by the same company that is next to them on the shelf.

  13. rochelle says:

Infantcare booklet was at the pharmacy. had to ask for it.

  14. rochelle says:

Oh and the diapers were BOGO at 6.99 So after coupon they only cost 2.99 (1.50 a pack).

  15. BG says:

We have used the Walgreen’s brand diapers for a few years now and LOVE them! Actually, my son won’t wear anything else but the “Zebra” diapers :) [Size 5]
Cub foods must have the same manufacture because their generic brand is exactly the same. I will definately be stocking up!

By the way – a few weeks ago, I went to buy a box with a peel-off coupon for $2 off. The clerk noticed that it had expired on 12/31/10 and would not honor it, even though I pulled it off the product right in front of her. So, just keep on eye on it!

  16. Melissa F says:

Does anyone know how to make the Olay 3/10 work? Is there a good way with the Buy 1 Olay, Get Secret…or the other Buy 1 Olay, get Moisterizer free? I am in need of face cream…so, I am wondering if this could be a deal?

  17. Renae says:

I went to two different pharmacies – St. Louis Park on 7th & Blake and to the pharmacy in Edina to get the infant care booklet – I asked in every department. No one seemed to have any idea what I was talking about. Can anyone tell me which Walgreen’s in this area of the city might have them? Thanks

    • Mommy'o'3 says:

At Cedar lake road in st. louis park, they are by the vitamins. I saw them in the vitamin info boxes in the aisle. Or I know they keep a couple extras in Cosmetics

  18. Shelly says:

Thanks – this was a great time to get some things at Walgreens! With a kid in braces, he goes through toothbrushes so quickly, so it was nice to get 4 of them today with the deals mentioned. I was also very glad to get the Kotex U variety (which is always more than the others) on such a good sale. They are 3.50 apiece – just like Rainbow last week. I had a $2.50/2 Wags coupon and a printed $2.50/2 Man. coupon. So the box of tampons was $1 and the pads were $1. Really good deal for that variety. Great deal on that kind of Skintimate as well which is a little more expensive than the regular Skintimate gel.

I spent $7.73 total for: 3 rolls of paper towels; 1 box of U tampons (and it was a bonus box with 4 free!); 1 box of U pads; 2 bags of Kettle chips; 2 Reach toothbrushes; 2 Colgate toothbrushes; 1 Skintimate shaving cream; and 2 half price little Valentine’s candies.

    Thanks!!!

    • JoannaV says:

Shelly – where did you get the Wag’s Q for $2.50/2 Kotex U?

      • Shelly says:

Joanna – I’m sorry, I wasn’t thinking when I posted that because it was one that the catalina machine put out for me awhile back. Somehow those machines must sense that a couple of us in the family like that brand because I got 2 or 3 from Walgreens, and then Rainbow gave me really good ones ($2.50 off 1) recently : )

  19. MJ says:

I purchased 3 Olay body washes for $10…used a $1 off MFcpn AND a MFcpn for FREE($6 off) Olay moisturizer(priced at $8.99 so I actually paid $2.99, which I was OK with) AND a MFcpn for FREE($3 off) Secret(priced at $2.99) PLUS the $3 RR…so I ended up with 3 body washes, moisturizer and deodorant for $9…now if only there was a mail-in rebate!

  20. Sarah says:

Ok, for those interested in the Infant Care coupon booklet, I FINALLY found it after calling around to several stores in my area. Since they had a nice stack and NO ONE else seemed to know what I was talking about (from the other stores), I grabbed a handful! :-) I think I have about 20 of them so if you want I can mail you one, just shoot me an e-mail with your info. My e-mail is: AsUntoTheLord@gmail.com . I hope this isn’t breaking any rules, and I doubt it would be. I’m thinking if you let me know you want one by tomorrow or Thursday, if you’re close to Wisconsin, you should get it before the sale is over. No worries about postage, I’ve got enough stamps. There are also some other great coups and they are all good until the end of the year, so make sure you get it back (even if they have to talk to the manager).

I just hope some other mom’s can get in on this and I’m annoyed so many stores have NO CLUE what it is. I wish I could have stocked up too but I was just glad to be able to afford 2 packs of diapers, as I have 1 diaper left and VERY little to spend. What a blessing. They also had the 4 oz tubes of Colgate Total Advanced (Enamel something, Whitening, and Advanced Clean I think) for 2/$3…and there is a coup in the monthly coup book (the one they all have at the front of the store) for $1/off 1…which makes for as many $0.50 tubes as ya want! :-) That is my personal fav toothpaste so I was jazzed. I know it isn’t free…but fifty cents is pretty nice too!

  21. Angie says:

The Champlin Walgreens had the Infant Care coupon booklet available last night. It was in the front of the store right at the main checkout counter (just before you walk out the door). I thought I’d list the coupons in the booklet so you would know if it would be worth your while to locate a booklet. If you purchase any of these items, I’d say it would be worth your time to find a booklet (especially If you can truly keep these coupons), because the coupons don’t expire until 12/31/11!

Coupons in the Infant Care booklet (all Walgreens store coupons):
$2/1 Any Enfamil Infant Formula Powder (22.2 oz. or larger)
$2/1 Simlac Advance or Sensitive (23.2 oz.)
    $2/2 Playtex Infant Products
$2/1 Huggies Diapers Big Pack OR Wipes (184 or 216 ct.)
$2/1 Children’s or Infants’ Advil Suspension (0.5 or 4 oz.)
$2/1 Any Pampers Cruisers, Swaddlers, or Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers (Big or Jumbo packs)
$2/1 Triple Paste Medicated Ointment for Diaper Rash (2 oz. or larger)
$2/1 Walgreens Brand Diapers (Jumbo pack)

(When using Walgreens coupons in the past, I’ve purchased 2 identical items and had a (ONE) store coupon. The coupon took the amount off of each product.)

  22. Sarah Sonnier says:

FYI The Infant Care coupons say they are a ‘Manfacturer coupon good only at Walgreens’… does anyone know how it would effect their use with other non-store specific manu coupons or use at other stores?

Oh and if anyone in the Milwaukee area wants to know, I got my stack from the store on the corner of Silver Spring and Pilgrim Rd. (SW area of Menomonee Falls). They had a bunch left at the cosmetics counter and said they had more in pharmacy too.

Regarding the quality of the W diapers, I thought they look just like Luvs but seemed more like Pampers in quality. I got some Huggies a few weeks ago when they were a good deal at Pick n Save, and would never buy them again even on sale…seemed to hold half what Luvs or Pampers does and doesn’t stay together well. So far I’m loving these W brand. :-) Nice stretchy tabs/sides, good stick on the front, we’ll see when my 2-yr wakes up how they weathered her fitfull wet nights!

    Sarah,
You’re right…my bad! They ARE manufacturer coupons that are good only at Walgreens. Thanks for catching that! :)

    • Sarah says:

Angie – I didn’t even see your comment! LOL Anyhow, my question was more whether it could be stacked with a non-store specific coupon? Does anyone know? Or let’s say it is handled like a standard manu…if they came out with a store coup, could it be stacked with that one?

      • These Qs are a YMMV sort of thing when stacking. Most stores will honor one from the booklet and stack with another non store specific manu Q, because they do say “only good at Walgreens”. There are a few cashiers though….. Either way, be sure to give your non-specific manufacturer Q first to avoid any beeps if there is overage involved (like the current Excedrin 8 ct deal) People have used them in combination with in ad Qs as well, but again it just depends on your store since it’s a gray area. I’m wondering if I buy 4 pkgs of diapers will the coupon take off $8.00. Does anyone know? Or has anyone tried to do that?

  27. Sarah says:

@ Jaime – Yes, and yes. You could buy 50 and it would take off $100. (Unless there is some limit on the # of diapers you can buy.) They only have to scan it once and it takes it off for all.

  28. Jaime says:

Sarah, Thanks so much. I got 4 pkgs and I was thrilled. This is even better than the Amazon deals I have been doing lately. You can never have too many diapers. They make such great gifts.

  29. Marie says:

I’m glad to see many people posting about the diapers. It is true that some Walgreens have no idea what the infant care coupon booklet is but I called the one in Elk River and they had it so my husband picked up some. The diapers are only $6.99 plus BOGOF so 4 packs end up costing $5.98
I’ve been using them this week and they seem great. Now when my twins were young and we bought generics( Babies R Us brand) we’d use them during the day and then good brands at night if the generics didn’t hold.
I hope more of you can find the coupons and stock up on this great deal!!!

I just noticed there’s a $1 off Purex q in this week’s coupon preview…if it’s in the early Sunday edition, that would make the Purex $1/bottle today!
