If you are new to shopping Double Daze, be sure to read Roundy’s (Rainbow Foods, Copps, and Pick N Save’s) double coupon policy before you get started to understand all the restrictions of their double coupon promotion.
If you shop at Copps and your ad doesn’t match the items mentioned in this shopping list, then check out what we saw for sales last week.
Two things to remember about this list of deals. First, it does not include every sale-priced item that has a coupon. It only has those items whose final price is low enough for us to mention it. Second, it is a starting list: as we learn of more deals whose final price is low enough, we will update this list. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

The 75-cent coupon off Helluva Good! sour cream dip (expires 3/31/11) – on sale for $1.50 – doubled would be free. I don’t know which insert or date.
Both the Heluva good and Ballpark Franks say DND !!!!!!!!
Not the best deal then
There was a $1/2 coupon for pop-tarts in the paper this week-good timing with the Kellogg’s deal, and better than the $1/3 printable.
FYI (Carrie and Laura)
The $1 Coupon for the Activia Yogurt from the 1/9 SS #2 expired on 2/6/11. The $1 Coupon for the DanActive doesn’t expire until 2/28/11. Just a friendly FYI. Thanks for all you do.

Dannon DanActive (exp. 2/28/11) or Activia Yogurt (EXPIRED 2/6/11) $2.00
Use $1/1 from 1/9 Smart Source #2 insert
Final price: Free after doubled coupon
The Rainbow on White Bear Avenue did not have any of the DanActive on sale :( The dairy manager said it looks like they are discontinuing this product. He said the Activia yogurt has been selling well. (But I didn’t bring my Activia coupons with me!) Oh well, I picked up another package of string cheese and pasta. (I had extra coupons of those along!)
Minute Rice coupons printed out as .50 not $1. :(
Last week I bought the $20/$5 next shopping trip and the coupon didn’t print. When I went to the customer service counter and showed the gentleman the ad, I was told that because I used double coupons it brought it below $20 and therefore didn’t qualify. I then told him that I had looked at the ad carefully and saw nothing that made that statement. He then informed me of the small print disclaimers on the front page of the Rainbow ads. I told him I wanted to return some items then because the only reason I had bought a couple of things in the ad was because of the coupons AND the $5 back. He then gave me $5 and said that I couldn’t do it again.
Has anyone else had this issue because nothing is stated in the actual ad regarding it???
It seems like it can vary by store and sale which is unfortunate for all of us. I personally did the unilever twice last week as well as the P&G and used coupons to get well below the thresholds and it still printed. I’ve found that the ad will be very specific as to when the threshold will need to met i.e Before or After manufa q’s. Not to say that I’ve never had issues in the past. The Del Monte deal a few weeks ago didn’t print and customer service was well aware of it – although the poor cashier wasn’t. She looked panicked when I mentioned it didn’t print. It seems that sometimes the computers aren’t set to be ready for the sales.
I went to the MG Rainbow on Sat and did the deal for Ragu and Skippy. It did not print out, and when I asked the CS person, she pointed to a small computer printed sign that said “after all coupons” the total must be $20. Now since Laura posted on Wed she was able to do the deal BEFORE coupons at that same store, I have to assume that they changed the computers.
Connie – I’m not entirely sure that they changed the computers. Carrie and I are thinking that maybe it has something to do with using the Roundy’s rewards card. When I did the transaction, I made sure they scanned my rewards card first (before ringing up any items), and then I did the exact deal Carrie had listed (Knorr/Ragu/Skippy) and my coupon printed with no issues.
Did you use your rewards card with the transaction?
Always. The other possibility is that not ALL of the items listed got programmed correctly. I bought mostly Ragu and some Skippy, and made sure they were in the sale. but let’s say one of the jars in the “sale” didn’t get coded under the $20 deal on the computers. Then it wouldn’t kick out the coupon. The store personnel cannot figure out why it’s happening, so they assume it has to be “after all coupons and doubling”. But we know that wasn’t true for yours and many other orders, so that wasn’t the problem. What can you do?
I am one who has to figure things out, but sometimes we cant:>)
Connie – Wow, I didn’t think of that. They seriously have to individually scan EVERY product? I figured they just did something in the computer so a certain UPC would ring up at a certain price and certain UPCs would be eligible for a catalina promotion.
I used my Roundys card last week and my coupon didn’t print either (Oakdale store). At customer service, they said it was because it was less than $20 after coupons, but they did give me a $5 coupon when I showed them that the newspaper did not say that.
I’ve looked and looked in my paper and haven’t been able to find the $1/1 in-store coupon for the Oscar Mayer Sliced or Fully cooked Bacon – has anybody else been able to find it and if so where? Thanks!
M – It’s not in the weekly ad found in the newspaper, it’s in the store ad found when you enter the actual store.
The in store bacon coupon is a “do not double” and the coupon code starts with a 9
Mary – Good to know; thanks for the update!
Laura,
Thanks!
I’m sure I should know this but, How exactly do you use the fuel perks? I have never used them. There is a rewards earned today, a total fuel perks, and dollar amount to next fuel perks, which is $12.36 on my receipt?
Hi Sally. You use your roundy rewards card at the pump at participating BP’s. The pump directions are very helpful….starts by asking if you have a roundy rewards card. Enter yes. Then you insert your rewards card. The pump then resets the gas price (for example, if gas is 3.10/gal and you have $1 in Fuel perks, the pump will actually reset to $2.10/gal). You then choose your type of fuel, insert the nozzle and start pumping. The pump will automatically shut off when you hit the 20 gal maximum. HINT: If your car won’t hold 20 gallons, bring a friend/spouse/significant other and fill both vehicles — as the 20 gallons isn’t rolling…. (meaning you can’t use 10 gallons today and 10 gallons tomorrow). Make sure to NOT hang up the nozzle in between filling multiple vehicles.
To earn a .05 fuel perk, you need to spend $50.00. The $12.36 to your next reward is how much of the $50 you’ve earned. Therefore, you still need over $37 in purchases before you hit your next .05 reward.
If you’re going to start using BP…another PYD’er posted that BP has a frequent rewards program. Everytime you put at least 8 gal in your tank, take your receipt in to the cashier. They’ll give you a scratch off that you enter on line. After 5 of those codes are entered, they send you a $10 gift card for gas. I just started that and have accumulated 3 or 4 codes already. My new strategy, of course, is to 1) max the 20 gallons on the Fuel Perks, but then stop at BP and put in 8 gal at a time….to get to the 5 codes quickly. (My son just started driving, so I figured he’d love the $10 in free gas :-) )
You do need to pay attention to your fuel perks, however, since they only last for a couple of months. Check your receipt where it says “Fuel Perks Expiring this month”. If you have an amount in there, that’s the value that will go away if you don’t use them…
Great review Kimm!! I’m sure it was helpfull to many. :)
Depending on the BP cashier, sometimes I get 2 scratch off cards when I put more than 16 gallons in. :)
Use your fuelperks card at the pump at a BP gas station in the credit card reader before you pump your gas and it will give you a discount. Your Rainbow reciept should show what your current savings per gallon is, it will also show when your rewards expire and how much expires, they seems to last about two or three months.
Does anyone know where the clearance section is in Woodbury Rainbow?? Have you looked for the Celestial tea there?
For a couple of weeks in a row, I got a catalina coupon at Rainbow for $2.50 off one package of Kotex U pads. One expires tomorrow and the other on Saturday. That would make them $1 per package which is a great price for that type. Just a reminder for anyone else that received those catalinas.
Does anyone know if Rainbow takes expired coupons? My assumption is NO as I’ve never heard this, but I have some expired “free milk” and “free eggs” coupons…. :(
No they don’t, but I use mine at Cub all the time because they are manufacturer’s coupons.
The St. Louis Park Rainbow has a bunch of Roundy’s brand sour cream for 50 cents. I imagine other Rainbows also have this deal with the stock they have leftover from Super Bowl week. It’s close dated, but not immediate (Feb 20 was the one I looked at). Of course, not as good as getting the Kemps brand free with the doubled coupon, but if you need extras check it out.
For some reason, the Frigo string cheese was on sale for $2.19 rather than $3. I didn’t notice until I got home, so maybe it was just the variety I got. That made it .19 with my double coupon!
It’s not mentioned, maybe because of no coupon match-up, but the $1.88 price for Kemps cottage cheese is really good. Less than 1/2 of the regular price. I also usually get chocolate milk for the teens in my house when they’re $1.50 per half gallon. I don’t find chocolate milk cheaper than that too often.
Shelly – if your teens are wiling to try something new I would suggest the Blue Diamond Almond Milk. You can get it for 90cents this week but I often get it free (on sale 2/$4 with a $1 doubled coupon) I always stock up whenever it is free because it is located on the shelf – not the refridgerator – so has a very long expiration. The chocolate flavor is delish!
Thank you, Sarah Beth! I also got some of the Blue Diamond chocolate almond milk this morning. I find my son and his friends drink it with no complaint if it’s poured in a glass and they don’t see the container : ) I frequently get the Blue Diamond or Silk brand free or really cheap, and then I use the chocolate varieties in my Vita-Mix. I blend the almond or soy milk with ice cubes and a spoonful or two of peanut butter to make a much healthier version of a “milkshake” for the kids. I also frequently put organic baby spinach in their smoothies which is great as long as they don’t see. (I’m talking teen boys that currently have no interest in eating healthy!) But I also keep regular old chocolate milk around when I can get a deal because it’s helpful for a quick protein boost after sports training, and they’ll reach for it in the fridge.
cannot print the blue diamond almond milk coupon. It says concurrent printing-help anyone?
There is also a $1/1 Nestle cookie dough coupon here http://www.verybestbaking.com/Coupons-Promotions/Coupons-List/Coupon-RCD.aspx
The coffeemate coupon is out of prints.
There is a $1/1 off of Clorox products through liking their facebook page, the coupon includes the bleach that is on sale for $1.79 this week at rainbow.
The $1/1 coupon is here:
http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/Clorox?v=app_155211227838269
Click on the Clorox Home tab, then scroll down and the coupon is in the sharing ingredients section
Which product does the $1 manufacturer coupon for Oscar Mayer Carving Board/Philadelphia Cooking Crème in the ad attaches to? I would like to use it in addition to the $1.50 Philadelphia Cooking Crème coupon or a $1 off Oscar Mayer coupon… anyone know which of these would work?
When I used it it attached to the philly cream cheese. The cashier told me I could not use the coupon because I had already used the $1.50 philly coupon. I told her, “but this $1 coupon is for the turkey.” She was nice enough to override it for me and let me double it anyway. I suppose this would depend on the cashier. Good luck!
@Northtown the Heluva Good Dips were on sale $1 each, so it was a money maker! I did two transacations this morning, but thought I’d share my really good one:
3 containers of Philadelphia Cooking Crème (shelf price $2.99)
3 containers of the Heluva Good Dips (shelf price $1.99)
2 Dozen eggs on Sale for 99 cents (shelf price $1.69)
3 Four PKs of Activia Dessert Yogurts (shelf price $2.69)
For a total of $2.73
? for those who’s Rainbow usually goes by Shelf price for the $25 Minimum…but, sometimes might go by Sale price for ” package deals” : Can anybody confirm that the Kellogg/Keebler deal goes by shelf price?
I played it safe this morning by buying a extra $10 in items just incase.
Shelf price for the Kelloggs deal.
http://thekrazycouponlady.com/2011/01/25/cheap-planter-nuts-and-keebler-cookies-at-target/ Coupons for Keebler cookies. $1/2 makes 8 packages $7.04 after doubling. :-)
POM Wonderful 16oz Juice – $2.50
Use $1/1 16oz from http://www.pomwonderful.com/products/cranberry
Final price: $0.50 each after doubled coupon
Thanks for pointing this one out! I don’t usually purchase POM because it’s so pricey – but this was a great price and included lots of good varieties.
I am just curious, what does everyone do to reach the $25 level? Today I had 4 planned transactions and 2 of them required serious bumping up to hit the $25 threshold.
Example
3 Kemps Sour Cream
2 Hidden Valley Salad Kits
Shelf total : $12.95
OOP after coupon $ .70 (I thought)
So I tried to buy a $13 Rainbow GC to bump it up, but the cashier (who was very nice) told me that would not work. I acted liked “OK I’m new to this… thanks for helping me learn” But then she ran the first coupon through and it DID work. So she called her manager over, and she said that using a Rainbow GC in that way violates their coupon policy. I politely asked if she had a suggestion… and she said to us a BP gift card. I did.. but they only had them for $25…so that really messed up my cash envelope for the week! For my last two transactions I used the sales flyer to buy decent deals (planned ahead of time) without coupons to bring the shelf price up to $25. So… what does everyone else do?
Oh and the actual total on the receipt was $25.40 with the gas card…so it appears that when you use a .55 coupon on a $1 item… they really do pay you to take it out of the store..correct?
I had 6 transactions today, I got 4 papers in January…I am feeding 3 teenagers and their friends. 3 deals were the Kelloggs deal and didn’t need any additional items, the other 3 were using deals on Carries list. I added the bogo crab meat (no coupons), bogo pudding, Butoini pasta, a high value $3 coupon on a $3.99 item, asparagus, green onions, bagels on sale for $1.25 this week.
My store allows a rainbow giftcard to hit the threshold, but I’ve never really asked the cashier if its ok so who knows what answer I would get if I went that way. Maybe you could try it again without asking? Great total though on what you did buy! Yes its true that some q’s can be better than free as long as the regular shelf price of the item is more than the doubled amount. Let’s say that the regular shelf price of the item that you had the $0.55 q on was only $1.00 in that case the q would only double to $1.00 – you would lose the $0.10. But if the regular price was $1.25 you would get the full double to $1.10.
There is an in-store flyer with a $3/5 Smart Ones Manufacturer coupon in it. I used that instead of a doubled $1 coupon and got the meals for $1.28 each! The flyer was in customer service. My Rainbow was nice enough to post both this coupon and the Rainbow coupon on the freezer door by the meals, so that’s how I found out about the second coupon. Hope this helps someone!
Jealous!!!
I did the same thing, Jennifer. It was a nice find!
Thanks for the list! Couple great things I found: Ronzoni pasta is $1.99, the inserts from 02/06 had $1/1, so made it free. Marie Callendars (same insert) had $1/1, and they were on sale for $5 for 11, so I bought one frozen entree for 20 cents.
Amy — Here’s a couple of ideas for getting your total up to $25. I clip every coupon I might conceivably use because often I end up getting things for free or almost free. Even if it’s something I othewise would not buy, it gets that bottom line up. Today I had 2 $3.00 L”Oreal face cosmetic coupons which I used on facial cleansers marked half price for $3.19. So for 38 cents I got two bottles of cleanser and got my total up closer to $25. I also have things that I frequently buy but only when I need to for getting up to the $25 mark. For instance, I go through a lot of tea and a lot of pan spray, but I always have enough on hand that I don’t need to buy until I need to get a few extra dollars toward $25. I also offer to pick up things for my boss who is often too busy to get to the store. Of course, I am reimbursed for those items, but it gets me into double coupon territory! For instance, today, the total for my purchases after coupons was $9.24,but the boss’s items enabled me to get double coupons. All my coupon purchases were free — the Kemps sour cream, Helluva dip, Activia yogurt.
I’m not sure if someone mentioned this already or not, but my Rainbow had the Smart Start cereal with the “Try Me Free” rebate on them. I used one of these to get up to the $25 this week. Also the Coon Rapids store had the Heluva Good dips for $1.00 each too, so you can use the 0.75 DND coupon and still get a good deal!
Not sure if they have these hanging up at all Rainbows, but when I was at the Shoreview Rainbow last night I happened to walk past the Hallmark Card section and there were TONS of “peelie” displays scattered all over that were for “$2 off your shopping trip when you buy 3 cards and use your Roundy’s card” They even had a pack hanging by the 99cent card section!
The coupon (in store coupon) is good only to use at Rainbow/Copps/PickNSave but it is good through 12/31/2011!!! Might be a good item to add to the Ongoing Deals if anyone else can confirm if they’ve seen it. A nice option to help get you closer to the $25 threshold but only spend a buck (33cents per card).
Thank you SarahBeth! I don’t think I’ve ever even looked in the card section at Rainbow. Because of your post, I did pick up three cards today, and there are plenty of those $2/3 coupons. Looks like that deal is a good for quite awhile, too. Thanks again!
Anybody else have problems with the Hormel coupon? I made my purchase last night – $20.88 worth of Hormel products, before coupons. I made sure the cashier scanned my card right away, but the coupon didn’t print. I didn’t notice that till I was on the way home, so I went back today. and asked about it. I was prepared to argue if they said something about it being $20 before coupons, but they didn’t mention that at all. After studying my receipt for a while, the customer service clerk went and grabbed a can of spam to ring up and generate a coupon for me. She went up to $20 and rang it out — no coupon. Then she scanned a rewards card and tried again. Still no coupon. Finally she just gave me a $5 bill!
I think my question might be answered above, but I thought I would ask to clarify. If I do the Kellogg’s deal, do I use the regular price for the cereal when trying to reach my $25 threshold or do I use the $1.88 per box? Thanks.
If the shelf price is marked, use the regular price. If it’s not, use the $1.88. Sometimes Rainbow will change the shelf price to match the sale price (very rarely, but it does happen).
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but the homestyle macarroni bags are $2.45 at our Picknsave, so only $.45 after the doubled $1/1 coupon. I tried one and it was pretty good.
FYI: Clorox coupons on Facebook are all gone and the Russel Stover $1/1 coupons mentioned are DND.
I found the Finish Quantumatics at my Rainbow on sale for $4.99, with the 3.00 printable, the deal was comparable to the Target price cut. Just thought I’d share.
If anyone still has a shopping trip planned today, just want to mention that Rice Krispy cereals and Special K cereals are not included in the $1.88 sale – at least they weren’t marked at the West End store. Special K bars were included, though. I was so surprised that Nutri-grain bars were included because so often they aren’t. Wish I’d had coupons for those, although maybe there aren’t any available right now.
Just wanted to give a thumbs up to the CS at the MG Rainbow today. I know we often hear when things do not go right, but today they totally made things work for me. I wanted to do the Kellogs deal on Frosted Flakes — I had the ocupons for eight boxes ($1 off two) they had only one box of the 14oz which was the correct size, the gave me seven boxes of the 17oz for the same price. They did give me only three coupons when I gave them four (but I live to far away to go back) and I did get over a a box in extra ceral by getting the larger size!
