“Examining Bullying in the Community” Workshop. Virginia Klevorn is the keynote speaker at this free event on Saturday, 2/5 from 9am-3pm at the Chaska Community Center. Lunch and refreshments will be served. The goal of this event is to create awareness and educate the community on methods to combat public incivility, including bullying. Skijoring Basics at Maple Grove REI. Ever heard of skijoring? (Yeah, me neither.) Well, if you like cross-country skiing and you have a dog, you can learn how to combine the two on 2/2 from 7-8pm. Register in advance for this free class.
Free Haircuts at Supercuts Studio Training Facility. Once again, Supercuts Studio in Anoka is offering free haircuts in Anoka (3750 Thurston Ave, go through the far left entrance to the Retailer Services Corporation). Walk-in appointments are available from 10am-1pm and 2-5pm on Thursday, 2/3 and 10am-1pm and 2-4:30pm on Friday, 2/4.
Income Tax Preparation Services. Tax assistance will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis on Tuesdays and Thursdays from February 1 through April 14 from 5:30-9:30pm at Creekside Community Center in Bloomington. Individuals must meet income-qualifying guidelines of $30,000 or less for individuals and $50,000 or less for families. AARP Tax-Aide will also provide free tax preparation services to taxpayers with middle-to-low incomes, with special attention to people age 60 and older. This service is provided on Saturdays from 8:30am-12:30pm from February 5 through April 9.
“Between Jobs: Connect to Today’s Job Market” Speaker Series. This series of four free seminars about job search skills and strategies starts with a presentation by Dave Anderson, founder of Famous Dave’s, who will share his story of how he turned a backyard hobby into a restaurant empire. This event will be on Wednesday, 2/2 at 6:30pm at the James J. Hill Library.
