Valentine’s Day is next Monday and as you probably already know, flowers are undoubtedly one of the most popular gifts given on this holiday. But with their popularity also comes a high price. Here are a few tips on how to save on flowers this Valentine’s Day:
– Order now. As with many other holidays, prices for seasonal merchandise generally start out low and go up as the holiday approaches.
– Be smart about the delivery date. Valentine’s Day delivery often comes with an upcharge. Instead, opt for your flowers to be delivered the Friday before or even the Tuesday after the actual holiday.
– Consider other kinds of flowers. While roses are one of the most traditional flowers given on Valentine’s Day, consider giving your significant other a different kind of flowers. There are many other floral arrangements that are just as beautiful as a dozen roses but are easier on the pocketbook.
– Consider a single rose. If you insist on giving your significant other roses but don’t want to break the bank, consider giving him/her a single rose. This might be a great idea if you aren’t planning to getting your significant other something for Valentine’s Day – you are still expressing your affection, but only spending a fraction of what a floral arrangement would cost.
Valentine’s Day Flower Deals
In the coming days, we will likely start to see the prices of floral arrangements go up, so as I mentioned earlier, now is the time to get one of the best prices. These are a few deals currently being offered by online floral businesses.
However, buying flowers from the grocery store or warehouse club is probably the cheapest route (if you’re able to hand-deliver the flowers, that is). If you choose the less expensive route, be sure to get the blooms that have been refrigerated as refrigeration helps maintain a flower’s freshness and makes them last longer.

Trader Joe’s sent an email that advertised a dozen roses for $9.99.
I have used ProFlowers many times and have never been disappointed. Their flowers are guaranteed to stay fresh for at least 7 days.
I won’t let my husband spend that kind of money on flowers. I’ve told him that the ones from the grocery store or Sams club are just fine. I don’t need the extra vase sitting around my house and we’ve had good quality flowers from there most of the time.
Also, he’s been known to buy at random times instead of holidays – which is just fine for me! He got me flowers two weeks ago. Better selection to choose from and I’m surprised!
I would rather have grocery store flowers. I have very good luck with rainbow foods flowers. Long lasting
Thanks for the article. Being a frugal online shopper, I am also comfortable with ShopAtHome, AAfter Search and Ebatee, along with MrRebates.
