Cub Foods Shopping List 1/9 – 1/15/11

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

This week we are rolling a new printing feature to all the shopping lists. You can check the box before each item, then select “Print my list” at the bottom of the entire list and voila, you will have a store-specific shopping list.

Since Cub Foods’ stores accept manufacturer-issued coupons up to 3 months past their expiration date (and in some cases up to 5 or 6 months past) some of those referenced on this list are expired. If you are new to Pocket Your Dollars, then learn to read this shopping list. If you are having issues, troubleshoot problems printing coupons here.

Remember that this is a starting list of deals for the week. As readers leave comments with bargains they found at their local store or we get emails with deal ideas, we will update this list. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

Your turn: What other deals did you spot this week?

Final price: As low as $2.39/lb after coupon plus free vegetables**
**Rainbow has a similar deal this week, but they require you to buy a 3.5 pound roast
***Here’s how I decide whether something like this is a good deal or not: I start with my buy price for beef roast ($2.49/lb, which is up from my long-standing $1.99/lb), then figure that because I have to buy a 3 lb or larger roast that I am spending at least $1.50 over my buy price to get “free” vegetables. Personally, since I buy most of my vegetables at Aldi, whose prices are lower than Cub’s I decide if it is worth paying more for the meat to get the “freebies.” In this case, I think the vegetables are worth about $3 to me; spending $1.50 (if I buy a small 3 lb roast) to get $3 in free vegetables makes sense to me.
(Thanks, Jan!)

  1. Mike T. says:

love the new check off thing….be local and be great at it!…like u r!

  2. JoAnna says:

The tomato soup deal is great–thanks :)
I’m looking forward to trying out the print list deal.

  3. Lisa B. says:

I finally got my first issue of All You Magazine, but I can’t find the Chef Boyardee coupon in it. My magazine says Issue 1, January 21, 2011. I also noticed a coupon table of contents but Chef Boyardee isn’t in there… Thoughts?

    • SarahBeth says:

Supposedly the subscritions that come in the mail do not have all of the same coupons as the magazine that you buy at the Walmart stores. Huge bummer.

  4. maria says:

Just wondering if it was possible to use 3 of the special k coupons for buy one get one on this deal….Does Cub take internet coupons for free products???

    • Laura Wales says:

Maria – Special K cereals aren’t included in the Kellogg’s deal; just the cereal varieties shown in the ad are. But yes, Cub does take internet coupons for free products.

      • Karen says:

After speaking to the front end cashier supervisor last week at Cub in Mankato, she said they take buy one get one free printed coupons but not a plain “get one free” or “try me free” coupon that is printed. The try me free coupons you are sent by the company or cut out are okay though.

    • Melissa F says:

Hey Maria- try Walgreens with the special K coupons. They have a really good deal this week…

  5. Lisa says:

Did anyone pick up the coupon booklet listed on the front page of this week’s ad? I went to pick one up at the South Bloomington Cub at about 10 this morning and no one there had ever heard of it…

  6. Tami W says:

I just got the Cub e-mail with their store Q. This time it was for $1 off Jimmy Dean D-lites. I paired it with the printable mfg. Q that was around previously and got them for $2.50 for a four pack as they were on sale for $5.99. Not the greatest price, but my hubby will LOVE them!

  7. Shelly says:

Cub used to frequently do their cheapest water softener salt 5/$10, and I realize things have gone up. But it seems like salt has taken a huge jump in the last two years. I’m always looking for the best deal. My husband got some at Fleet Farm awhile back. And sometimes, with a double coupon, the price at Rainbow is okay.

  8. Beth says:

I have been unable to get the $1 off Arm & Hammer dryer sheets :( Get to the arm & hammer website and I get 7 other coupons for arm & hammer, is there a particular zip code I need to use??? Located in SE MN, thanks !!!

  9. Lori says:

I noticed that the coupon book has a pharmacy coupon in it for a $25 Cub gift card. I don’t recall if it is for new or transferred prescription or both, but CVS will likely match this one as well. I believe it doesn’t expire until sometime mid-February or so. They had the coupon book on the same stand that they have the weekly fliers on.

  10. Cara says:

I couldn’t find it either Beth.

    • Rebecca S says:

I have extra of the coupon books (I pick just one up every time I go so I know that there are enough for everyone) with the $25 gift card coupons in them. If you want me to send you one, just email me your address rebeccagarbarino@yahoo.com. I think I have four or five.

  11. Jan says:

Do I have this right? The “Roast Meal Deal” calls the meat a Cub product. Wouldn’t it make sense to get a roast just slightly over 3 pounds so you could use the $2.00 off a purchase of $10 or more of Cub brand food product from the savings booklet? Then you’d get a roast for around $8.00 plus the free onions, carrots, and potatoes.

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Yes it would. Glad you know which coupons are in that booklet, as I have picked one up yet.

      • Sarah says:

        Coupons included:
        * $5 off any equaline Whitening Tray System, Whitening Wrap or Advanced Whitening System
        * $1 off any one (1) 40 ct, 80ct, or 9.8 oz spoonable Truvia (DND)
        * $1 off any two (2) Old Orchard Healthy Balance reduced sugar juice cocktails (DND)
        * $8 off one (1) alli 90 ct (DND)
        * $8 off one (1) Nicorette or Nicoderm product 72 ct+
        * $1 off any two (2) Nabisco 100 calorie packs cookies or crackers (DND)
        * $1 off any two (2) packages of Hillshire Farm lower sodium lunchmeat (DND)
        * $3 off when you purchase 10 vitaminwater 20oz., vitaminwater zero 20oz, powerade 32 oz, powerade zero 32 oz, Fuze 18.5oz or smartwater 1L bottles (DND)
        * $2 off $10 or more on any Cub brand food product purchase…(note, doesn’t include fluid dairy)
        * Save $25 on grocery purchase with any new or transferred prescription.

        Hope this helps someone!

  12. Jessie Mason says:

Regarding the softener Salt. We used to use the Diamond Crystal, but switched to the Sun Soft Brand. I just bought some on Saturday for $3.89 ($0.097) a pound without a coupon. It does go on sale at Cub occasionally too. That is when we stock up. :)

  13. Shauna says:

In regard to the dryer sheets, is that a better deal than liquid softeners usually are? I tend to go with liquids and use about half the amount recommended, so I’m thinking that might still be cheaper?

  14. Jessie M says:

I got the Sun Soft Brand for $3.89 at the Cub in Coon Rapids. This is a francise store so perhaps their prices are better on this particular brand.

  15. beth says:

I see that Cub has pop secret for $3/2. I have the coupon that I printed online for $1/2. Is this the best price or should I hold onto my coupon until something else comes up?

  16. Stacy says:

Thank you and great job on the new format! I was always a cut and paste person, that way I could save paper and ink, but now you are saving me time and money.

  17. Julie says:

I got a Cub coupon book at the Cub store in Stillwater this afternoon. They were in the lobby near the shopping carts.

  18. Susan says:

Golden Plump Coupon listed as 7/27. No Sunday for that date. I looked through the 7/25 and there is no coupon there. Am I missing something?

  19. Alex says:

Does anyone know if the Cub Vegetables for $.44 be things like 1lb bags of baby carrots and mushrooms? I’m trying to decide if I’ll be going to Cub this week or not.

  20. sandraT says:

anyone know if Other Locations have Sun Soft Brand for $3.89 Im in Maple grove

  21. Clare says:

If you leave the site to go to a coupon link and come back, all the check boxes for the shopping link have been erased!!!

    • Alex says:

Instead of left-clicking on the links, you can use the right mouse button on them and select “Open (Link) in New Tab.” That way the current tab you are in will stay just how it is and the coupon will open in a new tab, which you can close when you’ve finished printing it. If your mouse has a scroll wheel on it, clicking the wheel on a link should do the same thing.

  22. Roxanne says:

I can’t find the manwich coupon in my All You. Does anyone know what page it’s on? Thanks!

    • Laura Wales says:

Roxanne – I think that the Manwich coupon must have been in the special insert in All You magazine that comes when you buy it in the store, not when you get it via subscription.

  23. Erika says:

Would anyone be willing to mail me their hummus coupon? I already used the one from the 10/10 insert.

  24. natalie says:

Would the ss coup 10-10 for campbells 40/2 work making it .19 each…

  25. Jessie M says:

Re the campbells soup, yes I just did that tonight! :)

  26. Arielle says:

There were a ton of nature made coupons in my SS 1-2-11 #1 insert

    $5 off coQ10
    $3 off Sam-e
    $2 off fish oil
    $1 off vitamin b
    $1 off calcium
    $5 off tripleflex
    $2 off cholestoff
    $1 off vitamin c
    $1 off vitamin d
    $1 off any multivitamin

  27. JackieM says:

I haven’t printed a chicken coupon forever and it says I have reached my limit. :(

Thanks for the hint with the right/left click in regards to new windows Alex!

  28. Cari says:

Thrilled about your check-box feature! Wonderful feature that makes your website even better than it ever was!
    Blessings!

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Thanks Cari – But it seems to not be functioning for many folks and this morning it took the entire site down :( So, I think I have to deactivate it for the time being.

  29. Melissa F says:

FYI – I got one of the inserts for this weeks upcoming, and there is a mail in rebate for vitamins. Spend $30.00 get $5.00.

  30. Sonia Richardson says:

If you “like” Athenos on facebook you can get a $2 off 2 Athenos products.

  31. Lisa M says:

On the Kellogg’s/Keebler deal, you have coupons listed for Townhouse and Club crackers, but they aren’t 2/$5 are they? I’m seeing Town House advertised as 3.49 and Club at 3.09. Are they even participating for the free milk deal?.. I really need some Town House, but if they’re not 2/$5 at Cub, they are at Rainbow this week..

  32. Angela says:

Electrasol Finish 20ct is on price cut for $2.99
    use the $2.25 coupon from 1/02 SS1
    final cost: .$.74

  33. sally says:

I tried to print my list & it didn’t print.

  34. Heidi says:

FAST HELP!! I am heading to get the Maxwell house, but for some reason those printable coupons for $1/1 isn’t working?? I would love this for tomorrow morning, please help with the links for the printable coupons! Thanks!! Heidi

  35. Roxanne says:
