Walgreens Shopping List 11/28 – 12/4/10

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

If you’re new to Walgreens shopping, then learn how the Register Rewards program works and learn how to read this shopping list. Don’t forget that some other stores will accept Register Rewards like a manufacturer’s coupon. Also, it’s a good idea to print out Walgreens’ official coupon policy and keep it with you in case an issue comes up at checkout.

This is a starting list of deals for the week and is not a comprehensive list of every sale item and its coupons, but just the best deals (things at prices I’d actually pay). We will update this list as readers leave comments with bargains they found at their local store, we get emails with deal ideas or we read about other deals across the blogosphere. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week, we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

Helpful hint: Walgreens is the one store where an advertised sale like “2 for $4″ usually requires you to buy two products. The first one rings at full price and the second product will ring at a lesser price to bring the total to $4, using our example. If you ever question whether you need to buy two to receive a sale price, ask the cashier to scan one item for you. If it rings at full price, then you know you need to buy two products. If it rings at the sale price, then you don’t.

Month-Long Deals

Month-long deals are not always advertised in the weekly ads, but you should be able to find them by looking at the tags on the shelves. If the product you’re looking for is not labeled with a special Register Reward tag, the deal may not work for you. Remember that you can always return items if they do not produce the expected Register Reward.

On-Going Deals

If you know of any good deals at Walgreens on their regularly-priced items (with a coupon or not), please leave a comment so we can add it to this section of the list. What do you always buy when your Register Rewards are nearing their expiration date, or what are some good standard “filler” items?

Comments

  1. Brenda says:

You’re so prompt with posting the Wags deals! Thanks for your hard work to make our Christmas shopping easier.

  2. anita says:

Capn crunch is my fav indulgence. Now I can stock up.

    • mollie says:

I loved cap’t crunch french toast. Dip your french toast as usual, and then drop it in a pan of crushed up capt crunch, press it in a little, then fry like you normally make it. It’s amazing all warm and carmelized. Funny thing is – I don’t ever EAT cap’t crunch, just love the french toast, so I buy it now and then for that treat. I think I originally saw it on Diners, drive ins and dives and tried it for the kids.

  3. jo says:

I agree with Brenda…..Thank you so much. A little slow this week after last week spoiling us with so many freebies. I actually had to think and calculate to maximize the freebie rollovers from coupon to coupon. I am stocked for months on toothpaste/deodorant/toothbrushes/shampoo/ etc. Love the convenience of 6 Wags on my way home evryday and will make great xmas goodie baskets and a nice donation to charity. And to top off still have $40 in Jolly Jingles cash to use.

    • V says:

Oh Jo you lucky one you~! 6 Wags???? WOW I only can dream to get one within 30 miles of me….I have to really plan and make use of the miles it takes me to get to one…But I still enjoy a big stock pile of supplies….but I was bummed I missed out on all the goodies this past week :( But inplace of that I got TONS of family time! :) Priceless!

  4. Phyllis says:

Is the Jolly Jingles cash a manufacuter coupon you can use at Cub or Rainbow or is this strictly to be used at Walgreens. What kind of expiration date does it have?

    • jo says:

Jingles cash is just Register Rewards renamed for the holidays – two week expiration date just like register rewards. If Cub or Rainbow you shop took RR I believe tehy will take Jingle Cash.

    • Betsy says:

“Jolly Jingles” is the name Walgreens is using during the holiday season instead of “Register Rewards”. It is a manufacturers coupon that usually expires 2 weeks after it is printed. Some, but not all, Cubs will accept them (even up to 3 months after the expiration date). For more info, see Carrie’s explanation on Register Rewards at the top of this page.

    • Michele says:

Jingle cash is a manufactuers coupon and Pick n save does take them. The dollar ones even double on Double Dazes.

  5. Sara says:

The Degree printable link was not printable but a link to upromise. Does anyone know where I can find a printable?

  6. Alison says:

The Quaker chewy bars coupon from the 9/19 Red Plum expired on 11/13.

  7. dime time says:

since there’s no sunday coupon insert preview thread this week, can anyone confirm they got a P&G coupon insert in their sunday paper?

  8. Cheri says:

I got a P&G insert in my Star Trib paper.

    • dime time says:

i didn’t get one, so i’m calling to complain. there’s no reason why i shouldn’t get one in a home delivered paper. i know inserts vary, but as a home delivered customer, i expect all inserts. they market the value of coupons in selling subscriptions, so i should be assured of getting one. thanks all for the response.

      • dime time says:

i verified that i was supposed to get the P&G insert, and since i didn’t, allegedly they’re sending one out yet today, just as they would a missed paper. i know inserts are zoned, etc., but if they’re not zoning national coupon inserts in my home delivered sunday paper, then i don’t want it, even if i got in on the groupon $1/week subscription deal from a few weeks ago.

        • Emily says:

I found the P&G insert tucked away in a spot I wasn’t expecting it in. It wasn’t with the big pile of store ads in the comics section – you may try looking through every section a little more.

          • dime time says:

i looked through all the ads in all the areas more than once. turns out i didn’t get the parade mag either, which i hadn’t noticed. they dropped off an entire new paper with the coupons in it.

        • Annabelle says:

Apparently my paper carrier was a little tired or very generous…we got 5 P&G inserts in our delivered paper this Sunday!

          • V says:

            Annabelle
Don’t you just LOVE THAT when it happens?!!! I have had that happen with ones I purchase from a store…I can’t get the Star trib delivered to my home “with the coupons”; we are not in a location where they have a route. So that means I won’t get coupons. Anyway when that happens I remind myself to not to get so ticked when I get some papers with missing inserts~
I am sure it all evens out in the end.

      • Carrie Rocha says:

Dime Time – Yes, in a home delivered paper you should get every insert and can call to request yours if they are missing.

        • anita says:

Exactly, my thurs paper, yes the one with all the black friday ads, was missing CVS and Target. I called immediately and the Pioneer Press sent out another entire paper. I did realize I was missing an entire section of the paper not just ads.

  9. sally says:

A few months back I did not get the inserts & when I called to complain they said it was up to vendor where the inserts go. They said the Stat Tribune is only doing what the vendor wants. Never did get them. But I did purchase the early edition at Cub last night & the p&g was in them.

    • dime time says:

wow, you got p&g in the early edition. i did, once, last winter. i can never find much in the way of coupons in the early sundays around hopkins, so i gave up buying them.

  10. Dawn N says:

I have paged through the Wags ad twice and can’t find the votive candle coupon? Any help? I didn’t make coffee this morning and must be why? LOL

  11. anita says:

walgreens is having a friends and family sale on dec 1, 15% off. But be careful as alot of coupons expire on 11/30.
sorry, I am having problems getting the link to work. I’ll post when I get it.

  12. britney says:

Oki’m hoping one of you lovely people can help me. I’ve got just under 25 dollars in ‘jingle cash’ from black friday (woohoo!). My only issue is that 99% of these are p&g sponsored jingle cash. So…I CAN NOT use any jingle cash that is from p&g to pay for, say, the dayquil or gillette deal and expect more jingle cash to print, correct? Or is it just that I can’t use a 5 dollar jingle cash for dayquil/4 dollar one for the fusion razor? Would I be ok if I used 2 2.50 jinglecash from p&g to pay for the razor? Hope I’m explaining this well! I’ve never had this many rr’s and I’ve heard it both ways (no same manu at all vs. Just different amounts) and I want to make sure to roll this 25 bucks as long as I can. Thanks for any help!

    • jo says:

I have found that you cannot use same RR/JC for exact same item. You can however use PG RR/JC for another PG item. For instance you can use Toothpaste RR/JC for Toilet paper or laundry soap that generates RR/JC. You cannot buy or rcvd RR for Toothpaste with a toothpaste RR/JC

    • Teresa says:

I tried to use my P&G RR on another purchase that did not contain the PG item that had generated the RR…and it was a no go because I evidently had another P&G item in my second purchase.

  13. krista says:

When I tried to roll some over on Thanksgiving it didn’t seem to work from PG to PG regardless of the item. It got too confusing and I got frustrated. I plan to just use most of mine at Cub and not worry about it. Hope that helps

  14. Sue says:

It’s not the item, but the amount. So if you’re to get say a $2.00 RR/JC you can’t use a $2.00 RR/JC to pay for it unless the RR/JC is from another manufacturer. So as long as either the manufacturer or the RR/JC amount are different you should get the expected RR/JC.

    • britney says:

Thanks everybody! Wags is so confusing sometimes! I think I’ll try it once, and if it doesn’t work I’ll stock up on cap’n crunch and pain patches to roll them over. That french toast recipe sounds deeeeelicious!

  15. Judy says:

Carie, I have seen several ads for PineMountain or StarterLoggs for $14.00 recently, so your deal of getting them down to 9.99 seems good to me. Also, thanks for all your help last week; my husband and I made 2 trips to Walgreens and walked away with over 160.00 in Register Rewards / Jingle Bucks. I used some at Cub yesterday and spent 40 CENTS out of my pocket for 72.00 of groceries. The cashier said I win as having the most coupons :) And I still have more to spend! Got to love the feeling that I get to spend that money TWICE!

  16. pam says:

There is a manufacturers coupon in the Jerry’s food ad this week for $3 off 5 quaker products. We should be able to use that with the quaker products that are on sale this week.

  17. Dawn N says:

At the Wags I went to tonight the Advil gel caps were 14.49 and the tabs were 12.49. To much for me even with coupons.

The pot holders/towels/oven mitts were actually not to bad looking for .99 (2 pot holders, 2 towels or one mitt). When I had a girl scout troop we would take potholders and fold at a corner (ooposite of the loop) and then sew or hot glue them to create a point. Hang from the loop and you have a scissor holder. Makes a nice gift and most ages can do stitches or use hot glue (with a little help). .50 ea

They said they don’t carry the Vicks cough drops anymore??? Coupon expires 11/30.

  18. Dawn N says:

Lysol Toliet bowl cleaner is 2.99 and the wipes are marked down to $3 ea so if your Wags allows 2 coupons for b1g1 then for two you will have $1 oop or .50 ea.

  19. jenny says:

hey where is the target list? are we not doing these anymore or something?

  20. Michelle J says:

Is anyone else having difficulty locating the M&M coupon?

  21. Clare says:

How do you use a Upromise coupon at Wags…..ie – the one for Degree Deoderant?

    • Katy says:

I dont think you can use a Upromise coupon at wags-Check on their website for stores you can use them at. i believe you need to have a shopper card (like rainbow’s roundys card) and then the coupons are tracked that way and the money will be put into your upromise account.

  22. clare says:

Thats what I thought but it says to use one on the Degree Deoderant. Didn’t think it would work.

  23. AJM says:

Yes, $5.50 for a 160 count bottle of Metamucil capsules is a good price ($0.03/capsule). To save money, I often purchase the “house” brand at either Walgreens or WalMart. Last time the Walgreen’s brand was $15.99 for a 320 count bottle ($0.05/capsule).

  24. chris says:

I got my delivered Pioneer Press this am and there’s a 3-day sale ad at Walgreen’s. Q’s include Hershey’s, Arizona Tea, & Renuzit. Will there be updates to include deals for this ad?

  25. Debra says:

I have tried to get the expo marker coupon and cannot. it leads me to cvs, where it is not there. Also the person who sent it to you has a page for a hallmark card coupon and lowes 10% off link that doesnt come up either:( Anyone help!!??

  26. V says:

In case someone is looking for good socks at a good price; Wags has BOGO on Nononsense socks this week….I can’t remember what I paid exactly the last time they had this deal but I am excited to stock up on them for gifts too. Very nice socks!

  27. Shelly says:

My very nice cashier couldn’t let me use two $1/1 Command Hook coupons. It made the register beep, and she pointed out that each one said limit one per purchase (or something like that). So, that was a little disappointing. But Carrie thanks so much for pointing out the M & M deal this week. I’m trying to get stocked up for Christmas stockings, and with the two $1/1 coupons and then the $5 RR back, it made it a very good deal.

If anyone else is interested – I was delighted to find out that the 300 Christmas light deal that is 2/$12 is working differently than most Walgreens deals. I only needed one box, and the cashier tried ringing it up. Sure enough it rang up at $6. (the box is marked $9.99, and I thought that it ring at that price for one box).

  28. Tracy G says:

Has anyone been able to use a coupon from the Walgreens December coupon book along with a manufacturerscoupon? I’ve tried to do so a couple of times and was told that the coupons in the Walgreens coupon book are manufacturers coupon, so I cannot use other manufacturer coupon aong with them.

  29. Shelly says:

Yesterday I was able to do that Tracy. I used the coupon book for something as well as a manufac. coupon. I’m sorry I can’t remember specifically which item, but I think it was the Bic candle lighter. Which, by the way is very cool for lighting votive candles inside a candle thing (like a lot of Christmas candles). I had no issue with it thankfully.
