Tue 11/30 update: Entertainment Books are still on sale 30% off, but the cash back amount through Ebates has decreased to 35%. The deal scenarios within this post have been modified to reflect that. With this decreased amount of cash the final savings is 55% off ($20.93 is final price after cash back) or 59% savings if you also get the $5 bonus for first-time Ebates‘ customers.

If you have been waiting for me to tell you when to buy an Entertainment Book wait no longer. Buy one (or two or three) today. I bet this is the best deal we’ll see on them before Christmas (I could be wrong, but doubt it).

Today only (11/29), you can get a fabulous deal on the Entertainment Book. All books are 30% off today, as part of Entertainment’s Cyber Monday sale. Plus, if you shop through Ebates when you buy your book (create a free Ebates account, then login and navigate to the Entertainment Book) you’ll earn 50% cash back. If you are a first-time Ebates customer, then you’ll get a $5 cash bonus on top of that. Ebates will literally cut you a check for the $5 + the value of half your book; they pay quarterly so it’ll be awhile before your check comes, but it will come.

Using my local Entertainment Book as an example, this is what the deal would look like:

***Deal idea for first-time Ebates customers***
Create a free Ebates account or login to your Ebates account
Search for “Entertainment Book” then click through to the Entertainment.com website
Purchase a book for $24.50 (the Minneapolis book retails for $35)
Get $12.25 in cash back deposited to your Ebates account, plus a $5 bonus for first-time customers
Final price: As low $7.25 after instant savings after cash back (79% off)

***Deal idea for returning Ebates customers***
Create a free Ebates account or login to your Ebates account
Search for “Entertainment Book” then click through to the Entertainment.com website
Purchase a book for $24.50 (the Minneapolis book retails for $35)
Get $12.25 in cash back deposited to your Ebates account
Final price: $12.25 after instant savings after cash back (65% off)

***Deal idea without Ebates***
Buy an Entertainment Book from Entertainment.com
Receive an instant 30% savings at checkout
Final price: $24.50 after instant savings (30% savings)

What is the Entertainment Book?

If you’re a coupon user, you are probably already familiar with the Entertainment Book, but for those of you who are unfamiliar, it is a thick book jam packed with money-saving coupons – usually ones that are harder to come by, including local restaurants, movie theaters, car washes and retail stores. You can preview the coupons included in each city’s Entertainment Book by visiting Entertainment.com and entering the zipcode or city and state. The coupons in this book are good through November 1, 2011.

  1. Is the 50% cash back on one book or

entire purchase? (like could i get 2 books for this?

  2. Just a heads up, additional books are just $20 (with Ebates it would be $10 each).

I just ordered mine, it was nice that they have a preview of the book, so you can review before you commit.

  3. ShopAtHome has the same deal as Ebates. $24.50 for the first book $20 for the second. I didn't check further than that. They also have a 50% rebate on your total order.

  4. I just hope ebates comes through this time. I ordered shoes through DSW in September through ebates and then clicking DSW…they act like I've never purchased through ebates and I never got the $10 sign up credit. We'll see about this one….gambling again, but this time saving all communications to argue with ebates later if it does not show.

  5. Anna – Sarah is right. It is the entire purchase.

  6. Thank you, Carrie! I have been waiting for a good deal on the Entertainment Books.

  7. omg i missed it!! aaagh

  8. Flannel Guy says:

Just got a postcard that says go to "www.entertainment.com/bigvalue" to get the 2011 book for $19.99 (site says this week only).

The address worked, but atm I'm trying to figure out how to do it w/ Ebates deal.

  9. Flannel Guy says:

Here's the best deal I could figure out post 11/29.

    1) Do the Ebates sign-up for $5.

    2) Click-thru and buy one @ $24.50, second @ $20.

    3) Pay with Discover or other rewards card for %1 back.

    Spend $44.50, get back $5 + $15.57 +$.41= $44.50 – 20.16 = $24.34 for 2 books= $12.17ea.

  10. I stopped buying the entertainment book for the twin cities because I found that it wasn't as easy to find the deals as it could be. I wish they'd release an iPhone app or a GPS POI file. I saved all the coordinates to a file and created a POI index last year, but that's too much work with the new groupon/living social/dealsurf/etc local deal sites.
