Rainbow Foods, Copps, Pick N Save Shopping List 10/31 – 11/6/10

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

Thursday 11/4/10 UPDATE: I got an “Awesome Savings” coupon booklet in the mail yesterday and have included a list of those deals at the bottom of this shopping list.

If you are new to shopping Double Daze, be sure to read Roundy’s (Rainbow Foods, Copps, and Pick N Save’s) double coupon policy before you get started to understand all the restrictions of their double coupon promotion.

If you shop at Copps and your ad doesn’t match the items mentioned in this shopping list, then check out what we saw for sales last week.

Two things to remember about this list of deals. First, it does not include every sale-priced item that has a coupon. It only has those items whose final price is low enough for us to mention it. Second, it is a starting list: as we learn of more deals whose final price is low enough, we will update this list. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

1 free Butterball Boneless Turkey Breast 3 lb
1 free Armour Sizzle & Serve Breakfast Links or Patties
1 free Bagels Forever Bagels
1 free Roundy’s Orange Juice Frozen Concentrate
Final price: Varies depending on size of ham (on average $16-$21)**
**As Christmas approaches I suspect we’ll see Cook’s ham on sale for $0.99/lb That means you’re paying $1.30/lb more than a rock bottom price so that you can get “free” items. Last time this offer ran I couldn’t find a ham less than 10 pounds, which means you’d spend $13 more than a rock bottom price to get the 4 items free; yes, they value the free items at $14.67, but if you shop the sales you can likely get all of those items for much less than that. Personally, I’d assign a sale price of about $9 to the 4 free items (and even that is generous).

Comments

  1. Dawn N says:

Would Rainbow cut the hams in 1/2 and then buy both in two separate transactions. For a family of 2 with one additional at times it is hard to eat a large ham and then the cost would be more in range with the rock bottom? I will pass as don’t need yet but wondered for those who do?

  2. Therese says:

Carrie, I see on the cover of the Rainbow ad that there will be a Awesome Savings Coupon Book in this week’s mail.

Do you ever get a sneek preview on what will be on sale?

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Therese – One time Roundy’s PR gal emailed me the deals in advance and she swore she would again, but since then….silence. I can email her and see if I can get a sneak peek. I couldn’t share publicly until it hits mailboxes, but it would help me get a list together sooner.

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Therese – I just updated the shopping list with the additions from the coupon booklet whose offers start today. If you are planning to shop on Saturday, check it out. Also, look at the Pampers wipes update. Folks have emailed me wording about a second catalina happening on diapers and wipes. If it is really happening as I understand it, then Pampers wipes are as cheap as I have seen them.

  3. Lisa says:

Glad I checked this out. You always catch deals that I don’t. : )

  4. Luther says:

I’ve got a $1/4 Progresso soup coupon in my 10/24 Smart Source that expires 12/18. Would that one work for this week and give you $.50 cans or Progresso Soup?

  5. Flannel Guy says:

For two weeks in a row I can’t find an El Monterey $1.00 off coupon. All I can see is a BOGO.

  6. Kim says:

Smart source has a $1.00 butterball coupon which could make the ham deal better. Not sure if all stores will allow you to use the coupon for an item that will be free… mine will and with the extra $2.00 off that make this deal sweeter!!!

  7. Chrissy says:

Can anyone tell me about Pick N Save ads that run Thursday to Wednesday? I am from Southeastern Wisconsin, and just tried this site for the first time, but our ad runs Thursdays-Wednesdays.
It seems some of the deals here are for the first half of the week, but most are for the second half. For example, I went on Wednesday the 27th and the taco shells and Honest Tea is on sale. Then, I get the ad for Thursday and almost everything else listed on this site as 10/24-10/30 is actually on sale from 10/28-11/3 at my store.
Anyone have advice for matching up the deals listed here and ads that run differently?

    • Eyris says:

southeastern wisconsin genereally runs a week behind the deals. The ad stated here will be inaffect for you on thursday.

      • Chrissy says:

Thanks. That’s what I thought. I just was a bit confused when SOME-but not all- the deals were good this past week.

        • Jenn says:

Yeah, if you look up top of this page, you will see that Carrie mentions to check out last week’s deals if you are not seeing this weeks deals match up with your ad. Nice you get a “sneak peek” of what’s to come, though!!! :)

          HTH.
          Jenn

    • Beth says:

Chrissy- Just curious where in southeastern wisconsin? I also live in southeastern wisconsin:)

  8. sheepy says:

Also in the ad, Skinny Cow on sale for $3.99 a box. The chocolate truffle ice cream bars are usually $5.99, making this a good deal for people who eat one of these ice cream bars per day (my mom, not me!).

    • Jennifer says:

Thanks for the note on the Skinny Cow, I didn’t notice that looking at the ad. I’m signed up for their emails and received a $1.50 off coupon that will work well even without doubling.:)

And thank you Carrie for the fast list! Always appreciated!

  9. Amanda says:

    thanks for the list!

  10. SarahBeth says:

Anyone know if you can freeze half-and-half?

  11. Tracy says:

I tried the Hillshire Farm coupon link and it isn’t available

  12. Dana says:

Has anyone had any issues at Rainbow trying to use SmartSource coupons? I tried last week and they wouldn’t take it because it didn’t have a website address on it. The cashier said it was their new “policy” – to not take SmartSource coupons because there is no website address?? That would mean that the Fresh Express coupon will not be accepted… I can’t see a website address on it anywhere. Is there a way to notify SmartSource about this? They are a legitimate site. Why the discrimination?

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Dana – I have emailed my contact at Smart Source about it. If someone else tracks down a customer service email address then we can all send notes requesting they change their coupons.

      • Dana says:

Would also be worthwhile contacting Rainbow corporate to find out if this is truly a new “policy” or whether this is an isolated incident?

        • Karen says:

I did contact Roundy’s via their website and didn’t get much of an answer beyond a confirmation that they don’t accept Internet coupons without a website on them. In looking closely at the Smart Source coupons, some have a website, and some don’t. The woman at Customer Service at Shoreview showed me the fraudulant coupons that precipitated this. As she said – one person spoiled something good for everyone.

          • Mindy says:

For the first time ever I had a SS printable that didn’t work. The cashier rang it through as normal and it either wouldn’t scan or gave her a message that it could not be accepted. In any case, it was the register that declined it, not my cashier.

      • arlette says:

My $5 kraft coupon was declined b/c it didn’t have the kraft website printed on it, just coupons.com. This was at the Richfield Rainbow.

    • sheepy says:

      Which Rainbow was it?

      • Dana says:

It was the Shoreview one, on Hwy 96. I thought I heard/read somewhere that there were some fraudulent coupons out there that made Rainbow crack down on it??

  13. Cindy P. says:

FYI, the 2 links for the Pedigree Dentastix coupons are gone.

  14. Jen says:

Carrie, here is the Rayovac and Toy Story 3 rebate link http://www.rayovac.com/Promotions/Toy%20Story%203.aspx

  15. martin says:

Hillshire Farm Ultra Thin Deli Shaved or Hearty Slices Lunchmeat $3.50
Use $0.55/1 from 10/24 Red Plum insert or $1/1 Hillshire Farms Deli Select Lunchmeat printable
Final price: As low as $1.50 after doubled coupon

    $1/1 link does NOT work.

    MS

    • Jennifer says:

It probably ran out of prints since it’s a great coupon. I personally was able to print two of them yesterday.

  16. martin says:

Green Giant Stir Fry Vegetables or Vegetables & Sauce $2.50
Buy 1 and use $1/1 from 10/3 General Mills insert, $0.40/1 from 9/12 General Mills insert, $0.40/1 Green Giant Frozen Bagged Vegetables printable or $0.50/1 Green Giant Frozen Vegetables printable or
Buy 2 and use $1/2 Green Giant Frozen Bagged Vegetables printable
Final price: As low as $0.50 after doubled coupon

    $1/2 Q does NOT exist.

    MS

  17. Dana says:

I got a “coupon” last week saying there is a catalina for California Pizza Kitchen between 11/1 and 11/28…

    Buy 2 get $1
    Buy 3 get $2
    Buy 4 get $3

off your next shopping order. If you buy 2 pizzas on sale for $5 and use 2 2/$1 coupons, that makes the final price $2.50 each.

  18. Dannelle says:

Thanks for all you do on this site! Last week I got $60 of groceries for $59 and then got $1 back for my next transaction, LOL!

    Who doesn’t love FREE groceries?!

  19. Aga says:

Does anyone know how many ounces the gherardelli (sp?) bars are? Thanks : )

  20. Neil says:

    • Cindy P. says:

Thanks Neil! What store location did you get these prices from?

      • Neil says:

        oh sorry Robbinsdale

        • britney says:

I found the LaChoy Creations at my store last week (was going to buy one…glad I waited with the coupon since they’re on sale!). They were in near the soy sauce and stir fry sauces. This was Chaska though.

          • Neil says:

thx britney I thought I checked there, but you’re right it’s there. I also logged in my memory that the Wanchai ferry meal kits are there too. I have plenty of coupons for those, but i don’t seem to see those on sale much.

  21. Shelly says:

Maybe not a rock bottom price, but I’m always glad when I can get 1 lb of baby carrots for $1 – especially when it’s not with a store coupon that limits you to one.

Also, I buy chocolate milk for my teenage son, and am glad when Kemps Select chocolate 1/2 gallon is on sale for $1.25.

Has anyone seen a great deal on locally grown Honeycrisp Apples this week? I want to bring some to my Mom in Kansas City when I go down soon.

  22. Jennifer Carpenter says:

here’s a link to the RAYOVAC rebate-not sure if its already been posted…
http://tinyurl.com/29hmkdz and click on the RED BUTTON that says click here for official rebate form

  23. Jennifer Carpenter says:

Fun suggestion for others based on how i enjoy using this website
(note: not everyone will be able to do this)
    1. get your note pad, pen or pencil, calculator and coffee or tea.
    2. pull up your 25 year old rocker/recliner up to the computer
    3. put wireless keyboard in lap
    4. press CTRL and + at the same time- it should increase the font on your monitor making it possible for you to be able to see your monitor well enough for the comfort of the recliner.

    • Lisa ** says:

You mean bending over the laptop on the couch until my back is formed in that position isn’t the best way to go???

  24. dawn says:

How come rainbow does not have very many of each sale product? Last week I could not use 5 coupons because the shelves we empty.

    • Lisa ** says:

It depends on the time of day you go, how good of a deal it is, and of course if its a double double coupon day. All the stores are different in what they decide they should stock on their shelves and sometimes they don’t keep up with the demand on Wednesdays. A couple suggestions that I’ve learned over the last year (wow a year of crazy couponing)….know your store – when its busy, what type of deals are usually out etc…..have a backup plan or don’t be afraid to walk out if they are out of stock BUT don’t leave without a raincheck! Rainchecks have become my new friend and really cause me to shop with little stress, if its gone I’ll get it next week when there’s a full shelf. I’d say 50% of the time I’m shopping last weeks list. HTH!

    • Kim says:

I was able to walk into the store last Wednesday and be the ONLY person there at 6:10 am. The shelves were completely stocked and I did not have to navigate my way through people. It was perfect given that I normally stand in line for up to a half an hour just to check out when I go in the late afternoon or evenings. The cashier was rude and had extra time to go through my coupons and make sure everything was exact but it was worth the 2 minutes I spent with her to be able to have a stress free shopping trip.

      • Shelly says:

Kim – I agree with you totally. If it works with a schedule, the early morning is wonderful. Our West End store opens at 6 am, and I usually get there within 5 -10 minutes of it opening. I can have a stress free shopping trip with only 1 or 2 other shoppers in that store then, get home and get my teenager breakfast and off to school and then get to work myself. Awhile back I went to Rainbow at about 5 pm and was almost in tears before I left. I didn’t even know our Rainbow got crowds like that, and they were out of stuff.

  25. Angel P says:

Menard’s has Angel Soft on sale for $4.98 this week, in case it hasn’t already been posted!

    • Neil says:

Thx Angel. Never used a coupon at Menard’s before, The $0.50 coupon will bring it down to $4.48.

      • ME says:

Just be prepared for them to scrutinize your coupon at Menards. They aren’t accustomed to getting many coupons, so the cashier usually reads EVERY WORD on the coupon before they scan it. LOL

        • Amy says:

This is so true! I have had them reject coupons and act as though we are trying to pull one over on them by using a manufac. coupon. I always make sure to email my customer service experiences (good or bad) on their website.

  26. Gianna says:

In my pioneer press edition of RP, the hillshire farms coupon was for $0.35 not $0.55

  27. Dawn N says:

I have $4 coupons off Sinex that don’t expire until 11/30/10 making them free. Noticed the update above indicates an expired coupon but the date on mine isn’t expired. Am I missing something or ?

  28. Shelly says:

For some reason I didn’t see the Buy 2 get 1 free Bird’s Eye frozen veggie coupon mentioned in the list this week. (I get the Strib) But I did, in that same Smartsource, see a buy one Bird’s Eye Steamfresh and get a free Steamfresh “lightly sauced” or multi-grain item. That was a great deal because I got the steamfresh bag on sale for $1 and then the free item was $2.69.

Just a heads-up to West End (SLP) shoppers. The Progresso Panko breadcrumbs were not marked for $2, however they did ring up that way making them free with doubled coupon. But there was only 1 box left on the shelf which I purchased. I hope they have more. I told an asst mgr, but not sure if he was really listening as he rang up my order.

  29. Lisa O says:

I know it’s not about Rainbow directly, but I have a question–I’m having SOSOSO much trouble printing Smartsource coupons, it says I need to install Java–but when I try it says I can’t because I don’t have Tiger (I have a macbook, Leopard is installed, and I use Safari). I’m very frustrated because I can’t find an email address to email Smartsource about it,. Any ideas??? There are so many coupons I can’t print lately–ack!!! Thanks–

    • Toni says:

I’ve had these problems, too. My solution? Use Internet Explorer. It’s a pain in the rear, but at least I get the coupons I want.

    • Erika says:

I run a mac that has leopard. I installed firefox. It is a free download.Use it instead of leopard. Works like a charm for me. Hope this works for you too.

  30. Sooz says:

Eisenberg’s Market has pomegranates 2/$1.50 this week!

  31. Sooz says:

Shelly – Eisenberg’s have Honeycrisps for $1.59/lb, too!

  32. melissa thompson says:

rainbow in apple valley rejected the rayovac coupon when I went today.

  33. Lisa says:

Ran out of time today to try the P&G deal. Was it calculating the $20 after face value or doubling – anyone know?

    Thanks!

  34. Andrew says:

The Pepperidge Farms Texas Toast BOGO was listed as $2.69 at Plymouth.
I didn’t get it as I had already used up my 5 double Qs. Maybe Saturday.

Also, 1 gallon ClearValue OJ is $1.98 with Q, if your store has any left that is.

  35. Chrissy says:

Is it a possibility to use more than one coupon for the same product, if they are different coupons? If I have an internet coupon for $1/1 and a newspaper insert for $.50/1 can I use them on the same one item, or do I have to have 2?

  36. Sandy says:

NABISCO CRACKERS…..I rec’d a free gallon of milk on next purchase from Nabisco on Wed. I did purchase 8 boxes. Made my deal sweeter. : ) Anyone else rec’v same printout?

  37. Julius says:

The Awesome saving coupons are just in-store coupon and it just works as simply deduct the differences between it saved sale price and in-coupon price. It works silly cause you can got the deduction just by scan the coupons even if you did not buy the item itself…

    • Karen says:

If you are saying that you can scan these coupons and get the savings amount off of other items, then I think that is defrauding the store. Most likely Roundy’s has an arrangement with the manufacturer to get that savings back. I am very careful to make sure that I am doing the couponing legitimately and according to my values. If there is a lot of fraud, then they will cut back on the available coupons, most likely. What does everyone else think?

  38. Anna Fournelle says:

Ok, I’ve done some searching without any results. How do I get an “Awesome Savings” coupon booklet? Thank you for you time! Anna

    • Melissa says:

Anna, mine came in my weekly local paper – The Sun Post.

    • Chelle says:

You can usually ask at the service desk when you fist get there. Then they usually have them at the checkout, but give it to you after you are done checking out. Sometimes my servce desk looks at me like I am asking for a golden ticket. Who cares if I want a coupon book lol. I just want to buy your groceries and use coupons :) I’ve only done this a few times if there were items I just had to have.

  39. Sarah says:

    Carrie,
I got a catalina print out that says that if you buy Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts you can get $4 off your next order from 11/6 to 11/28.
    Buy 3 get $2
    Buy 4 get $3
    Buy 5 get $4

  40. MEG says:

    Pomegranates $2.00
    Sale price, no coupon needed
    Final price: $2.00 after sale**
**This a good sale price for this very expensive fruit, which I happen to love and I splurge on this time of year. YUMMY!

FYI: there are $1/1 POM coupons right with the pomegranates. If doubled, that means you get them FREE!!!

  41. Vinnie says:

I quit shopping Rainbow in Coon Rapids because I have never gone there and got everything that was in the ad in one trip. They are always out of items that are in the ad whether it’s Sunday morning or Friday afternoon. Get a raincheck and they are still out the next week. Talked to the manager multiple times and he always blames corporate or his supplier. Funny how Cub and County Market always have everything in their ads even on dollar days.

  42. Jennifer says:

Rayovac AA or AAA Batteries $3.49

You can get there for $.49 each + taxes. At Mills Fleet Farm, there is $3 coupons available for tearing for 12pk of Rayovac AA, AAA batteries and others.

  43. Jennifer says:

On the p & g deal, I think it is calculated after mfr coupons. I bought $20 of the stuff and used mfr coupons. No rr came out.

  44. Michele says:

My RB CS told me they would accept my internet coupons for $1 or less but that in all likelihood any of the coupons greater than $1 or for a free item are fraud. I almost felt insulted when she implied that I was comitting fraud by attempting to use internet coupons but I managed to keep perspective and not take it personally.

Then I did some shopping and the cashier rearranged my coupons effectively allowing my DNDs to double.

On the P&G Pampers deal, you have to spend $20 after mfr. coupons. I did 3 packs of pampers cruisers for $26, and then used 3-$1 coupons, which doubled. I paid approx. $20, and got the $5 off P&G coupon, and then $5 off your next pampers purchase. I don’t know about the wipes being included in the $5 catalina, but I know the diapers have to be cruisers. So, 3 packs of pampers cruisers were a little over $3 each (sorry, I don’t have the exact numbers handy, but it’s a great deal on diapers). FYI, the 10/31 P&G wipes coupon won’t work on the wipes, because there’s a size specification on them, and the packs on sale aren’t large enough.
