UPDATE: Printable Coupon: $5 off 5 Kraft Dairy Products = Free Cheese

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

Update: Good news, bad news on this coupon. Good news, it is a legitimate coupon issued by Kraft Foods. We can tell that it is legit in a couple of ways.

First, this landing page where you go to print your coupon is on Kraft Foods website; look at the url, it reads www.brands.kraftfoods.blah.blah.blah. If you go to http://brands.kraftfoods.com you are redirected to Kraft Foods’ home page, which confirms that the Kraft Foods’ is hosting this coupon.Typically fraudulent coupons are hosted on some random website that you’ve never heard of and is not affiliated with the brand itself.

A second way we know that this is a legit coupon is because it has a print limit and uses what’s called “bricks” coupon technology to limit printing to two copies per computer. Illegitimate coupons usually come in a pdf form that allows people to print an unlimited number of the coupons. That is not the case here.

Third, Kraft Food’s Frequently Asked Questions page references the Huddle for Hunger coupon and says it will be available to print starting on August 22, 2010.

Now, on to the bad news. Some stores are saying that the coupon is fraudulent, even though it is not. The second piece of bad news is that a store has the right to refuse a coupon so there isn’t much point to arguing the issue at the register or with the manager. Instead, I suggest that you email the corporate office of the grocery chain where you are having issues (if it is Cub Foods, you can email them here) and email Kraft Foods or call 1-877-535-5666 to alert them to the specific grocery chain that is refusing their coupon.

Sorry that some of you have been having problems :(

***

Kraft Foods released a high-value printable coupon this morning for $5 off any 5 Kraft dairy products. No doubt this coupon will turn into free or near-free Kraft products like cheese, Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Velveeta and Sour Cream. Besides saving money when you use this coupon, Kraft will donate 5 meals to Feeding America.

Since it is what’s called a “bricks coupon,” meaning the url of the coupon starts with www.BRICKS.coupons.com.blah.blah.blah, you should be able to print this twice per computer. Mine printed with an expiration date one month from now, which is longer than the typical two weeks we usually see with bricks coupons.

This week you can actually get free cheese at Cub Foods. Here’s how:

***Deal idea***
Buy 5 Kraft block or shredded cheeses for $2.00 each
Use $5/5 Kraft Cheese printable coupon
Spend $5, get coupon for $5 off your next order (advertised Kraft promotion)
Final price: Free after coupon and money off next order

Later today I’ll highlight the best new coupons from the major coupon sites, but feel free to check them out yourself on Coupons.com, Smartsource and Red Plum.

Your turn: What other deals can we do where this coupon will turn into free food?

  1. ann says:

FYI Carrie. I just tried to print this with Firefox and it just kept thinking. IE worked though.

  2. Molly says:

Sweet deal! Thanks! Can’t wait to go to Cub and stock up on some cheese tonight!

  3. Tara says:

I couldn’t get it to print through either firefox or IE. Firefox just kept spinning like Ann said and IE said it printed, but it really didn’t. Bummer!!

  4. Kae says:

No problems – just printed it on Firefox.

  5. Amber says:

Question: I have the $5 cat from the cub deal already. Can I use that $5 cat plus this coupon and still get another $5 cat printed?

  6. steve says:

Has anyone tried to use this coupon? Did the $5.00 coupon print out at the store?

  7. Amber says:

That’s what I thought! ;) I’ve never used cats before so this still new to me.

  8. pam says:

Will walmart accept this coupon? The stores I usually shop at don’t accept internet coupons over $2….

  9. Anne says:

Yesterday I went to Cut and bought the 5 Cool Whips for $5 and got my $5 catalina. I typically don’t got to Cub, but shop at Rainbow, so didn’t know how I’d use my catalina before it expired. Well, the catalina that prints out says “Manufacturer coupon”. I presented it today at Rainbow and they took it! $5 off my order!

  10. V says:

    Nice picture Carrie~

  11. Susie says:

    Can you freeze block cheese?

    • tabby says:

Yes you can put blocks in the freezer, however it works better if you grate it first. Once chesse is frozen it works better when you use it for cooking, not eating with crackers. That has just been my expereince with freezing cheese.

  12. Thanks! I printed it on Firefox and it worked without issues. I’ll be stocking up on Cheese tonight! between last week’s rainbow deal and now this I’m feeling good about cooking up some cheese-heaving dishes throughout the fall :)

  13. Cheryl says:

Thanks. Our local store has Kraft on sale this week too! 3 for $5.

  14. Christine says:

Don’t bother trying to use the kraft coupon at the Cub by Lake st and Minnehaha Ave. They refused to take it. After making me stand around for 10 min with my two children going wild they claimed they couldn’t verify it. They also gave me a hard to time about taking a walgreen RR even after I pointed out that it was a manufacturers coupon. I won’t be shopping there anymore.

    • steve says:

I suggest going to a corporate store when you have higher amount internet coupons. They would have given me a hassel at the non corporate store. I go to a non corporate store all the time. I went to the corporate store today so I would not get a hassel with this coupon..

      • sharon says:

Steve, could you please explain what you mean by a corporate store vs. a non-corporate store? How are they different, and how can you tell if your store is a corporate store?
        Thank you.

        • steve says:

Sharon—you can call the store and ask them. Corporate stores are owned by Cub, non are franchises. For example, the Bloomington Cub on France is non, the one on Lyndale is corp.

    • JoAnna says:

Christine–some of the Kraft shredded cheese at my Cub had a peelie with directions on how to get the $5 coupon. That may help your cause–if you ever go back.

    • Teresa says:

Strange. Lake & Minnehaha always takes my RR. I bet I can guess which cashier you had :)

    • Kristi says:

I was told that store didn’t take rr’s a few months ago, and I know I had a internet coupon for like 75 or $1 off n my cashier was a freak about it n had to go ask, had all the proper waterproofs and everything held the line up, I dislike going to that store, and always packed w/ not enough cashiers.

  15. Nita says:

I used this coupon at Cub and had no problems…got my $5 off for next time making the cheese FREE :)

  16. Linda says:

If I buy 5 Kraft cheeses and 5 Cool Whips in on transaction, will I receive two $5 catalinas?

  17. Linda says:

Sorry, should have read the fine print closer. It says limit 1 coupon per transaction, but does that mean per the initial transaction that spits out the catalina or when you go to redeem the catalina?

  18. Lisa says:

Look for the varieties of shredded cheese that contain 20% more (9.6 oz.). They do generate a catalina!

  19. Jeannie says:

Do you have to spend a certain amount to get the $5 catalina? I bought my 5 items & used this coupon last night (the cashier had to force the coupon but had no problems taking it) but I did not get the catalina. I am wondering if I didn’t spend enough (only spent $8.46)

    • Oboe says:

You should just have to buy 5 things. But they need to be the 5 things on the back of the ad. I think the only thing that is on the ad that is good with this coupon is cheese blocks or shredded cheese. Did you buy those?

    • JoAnna says:

It’s possible it took awhile for it to print–happened to me today.

  20. jenni says:

I bought 5 packages of Kraft cheese last night at Cub, total came to $5 after the coupon and it printed out my catalina. So no, I don’t believe you have to spend a certain amount, should have brought it up at the customer service desk if it did not work for you. YAY for FREE cheese, and LOTS of it!!!

  21. JoAnna says:

I did three transactions today–5 sredded, 5 shredded and 5 cool whip. I also used register rewards to pay for most of the $5 due and each time received the $5 cat!!

  22. Debbie says:

The Cub in Maple Grove refused to take this coupon. They said it was fraudulent!

  23. Judy says:

Cub is now saying this $5 coupon from kraft is fraudulent… at least the ones my friends have gone to lately. I was able to do the transaction today but they haven’t. So anyway, just giving people a heads up. It looks legit to me though!

  24. Debbie McDermott says:

tHE Cub in Maple Grove would not take this coupon. They said it was fraudulent.

  25. Beth says:

I did this deal twice. I had no problems at the Cub in Roseville. I always make sure I know if a catalina should print and mention that there should be one printing if the cashier hands me my recipient without it.

Thanks Carrie for letting us know about such a great deal.

  26. Carrie says:

Love this deal, printed four, used all with my husbands help :) It not such a bad deal for cub either I do daycare buy a ton of food every week and with all the cat we got we will have to go back more. I like cub but aldi saves me more if not for these great deals. Thanks for the tip.

  27. Amanda Ruth says:

I did this deal multiple times at two different stores, but ran into trouble at the self-checkout – when I scanned the coupon it caused a register error and it shut down! The clerk had me move to another register and it happened a second time, so from then on they just entered the coupon manually for me.

Like JoAnna mentioned above, the peelies on some Kraft cheese promoting this coupon might be good evidence that it’s a legit coupon.

  28. tami says:

got my cheese on sat. at CUB in Plymouth (off 55) and it worked. Cashier had to hand key in the q and I did get the $5 coupon for my next trip.

That cheese keeps in the frigde without having to freeze it. I have never freezed it before.

  29. Pj says:

Will the catalina still print out today the 5th?

  30. I used the coupon at two different albertsons without any problems. One Albertsons had a banner advertisement up & the other albertsons I found a peelie offer on the Kraft cheese product TELLING you where to go & how to get the coupon!

  31. I used the $5 off of 5 at Walmart in Willmar. It would only deduct $2 off the order when I bought 5 packs at $2 each. Argh.

  32. cheryl says:

i tried to use this coupon at my local grocery and they told me it wasnt valid. i see others are having a problem as well. i’ve emailed kraft foods to see what recourse i have.
