Free eBooks: Morning & Evening, Fairy Tales Every Child Should Know + More

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

I (Laura) am a book lover. When I was a kid, my dad would take my siblings and me to the library every Saturday morning, where I would check out a stack of books so high that I could barely walk out the door. I’d read the books during the week (more during the summer months) and come back the next Saturday to do it all over again.

Now, there are eBooks available to read on your computer, your Kindle, your iPhone – you name it. I haven’t quite warmed up to the idea of reading books digitally (there’s something about the sound and feel of turning a page that really appeals to me), but when I do, I know that there will be plenty of free books available for me to download.

Here are several of the latest eBooks I’ve found available for download:

Eight free eBooks from ChristianBook.com, including Morning & Evening by Charles Spurgeon, The City of God and The Pilgrim’s Progress.

– For Disney Movie Rewards members: a free eBook called “Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue.” This eBook comes as a PDF download.

Edge of Apocalypse by Tim LaHaye and Craig Parshall on Amazon. This novel (co-authored by the writer of the “Left Behind Series”) follows the story of Joshua Jordan, a patriot and weapons designer whose missile defense system may fall into the wrong hands.

Fairy Tales Every Child Should Know by Hamilton Wright Mabie (on Amazon, pictured above) is a collection of 20 well-known fairy tales that would be great to read aloud in the car or as bedtime stories when you’re traveling.

– Also on Amazon, you can get Empowered: Unleash Your Employees, Energize Your Customers and Transform Your Business by Josh Bernoff for free download. Learn about what Bernoff calls “HEROes,” highly empowered and resourceful operatives and how to promote your business in the days of social media and marketing.

– Check the free book collections at Amazon.com to find a list of free classics and out-of-copyright, pre-1923 books and limited-time free promotional books.

Download 12 different classics at Barnes & Noble through Sunday, September 12. You can also get over 100 free eBooks for the free Barnes & Noble eBook reader (the Nook) that can be used with your Blackberry, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac, Nook or PC.

Remember, if you do not have a Kindle but you’d like to download one of the free eBooks from Amazon, you can download a free application to read Kindle eBooks on your Android, BlackBerry, iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch, Mac or PC.

Love your description of reading as a kid :) I was exactly the same way. I would stack books from my little hands all the way up to my chin and tear through them all in a week. Books are the best!

Huge number of free ebooks at http://gutenberg.org. Manybooks.org merely has an enormous number, but is easier to navigate. onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/ lists books from a number of sources.

freesfonline.de is specialized; it lists free science fiction and fantasy. In English only, in spite of having a German domain name.

If you have a library account through the Hennepin Co Library, you can read free ebooks and download free audiobooks. You can “borrow” them for 3 weeks. If you don’t have an account with Henn Co but do with another county library, I believe you can email your current library bar code to Henn Co library and they will sign you up with their library as well.
