Walgreens Shopping List 8/8 – 8/14/10

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

Enjoy a couple free-after-Register Reward items as well as one free-after-coupon deal this week. If you’re new to Walgreens shopping, then learn how the Register Rewards program works and learn how to read this shopping list. Don’t forget that some other stores will accept Register Rewards like a manufacturer’s coupon.

This is a starting list of deals for the week and is not a comprehensive list of every sale item and its coupons, but just the best deals (things at prices I’d actually pay). As readers leave comments with bargains they found at their local store, we get emails with deal ideas, or we read about other deals across the blogosphere, we will update this list. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

Helpful hint: Walgreens is the one store where an advertised sale like “2 for $4” usually requires you to buy two products. The first one rings at full price and the second product will ring at a lesser price to bring the total to $4, using our example. If you ever question whether you need to buy two to receive a sale price, ask the cashier to scan one item for you. If it rings at full price, then you know you need to buy two products. If it rings at the sale price, then you don’t.

Your turn: What other deals did you see at your Walgreens?

Comments

  1. Cara says:

What is a good “buy” price for baby wipes?

I looked on the website and didn’t see it listed on Carrie’s page, so I’m wondering what others pay. We’re expecting a little one in Dec so I’m trying to start stocking up when the price is right between now and then. Thanks!

    • Erin says:

I don’t know what to say as far as the right buy price, but I just always make sure I’m spending less than Target’s store brand wipes (the huge box of refills) if I buy name brand. When there are high value coupons for wipes (the P&G insert has them every once in a while), buy the smallest size you can with the coupon. A while ago, there were $2/1 Pampers wipes coupons so you could get a whole container for something like $0.25. Watch for deals like that since you have several months to stock up.

    • Christina says:

My buy price is 50 cents for the plastic tubs (I think they’re 62 count).

    • Kristi says:

I think the target (pamper like) wipes in the huge box are a good deal, a lot cheaper than buy small packs unless you get them almost free! I also liked targets wipes a lot!

  2. Sheila says:

The Kotex U and Kotex deal didn’t work. They were 2/$7 as listed. However, the $2/1 Walgreens Coupon from the Aug Booklet is a manufacturer coupon and I was unable to stack it with my other $1/1 manu coupons. The transaction rang up the sale price, and took $2.00 off each item but when she went to scan the other coupons it said there was no item found for that coupon. She couldn’t figure it out as she could see I had the right items for the right coupons. She asked the manager and he check the receipt and said there were already manu coupons taken off. He said that Walgreens has changed their booklet coupons to read “manufacturer coupon” (we checked through the book and they are all like that.) I will watch the list to see if others were able to do this deal as I really wanted to get these at 50cents each. If you got it to work could you please tell how you did so.
    Sheila

    • JoannaV says:

Sheila – I had no problem with this deal and got them for .50/each. The coupons in the Walgreens books have always said “manufacturer’s coupons” but I read somewhere that they technically are not. Maybe try a different store.

  3. Mary says:

I used the Ecotrin link and got the website but saw no mention of a coupon. Am I missing something?
Also, a comment: when my Walgreen’s had a BOGO, it allows you to use only one manufacturer’s coupon, as it figures you are not really “buying” the second item.

  4. M says:

I couldn’t get all the Kotex/Kotex U coupons to work either. It took off my $1 each manuf coupons but then didn’t deduct the price of the coupon from the Walgreens book. Wouldn’t stack with the Aug coupon book. Thought it was just me that had this trouble. Thanks

  5. TAMMY says:

The Planters trail mix coupons are no longer available.

  6. Lisa says:

Hmmmm… I just did the Kotex U deal and it worked. The cashier seemed surprised that it took so many of my coupons, but I didn’t argue… Also, did anybody find the Nivea body wash coupon in the 7/25 RP – I have looked several times and cannot locate it. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place??

  7. sheepy says:

    I’m boycotting Walgreens.

    • V says:

Ha…your comment gave me a laugh…not laughing at you but with you….I feel like that sometimes too…but I know I will be drawn back in….well actually I feel that way about most any store at times…..couponing is hard sometimes frustrating work….but….man sometimes when you can make off with so much free items…it is too thrilling to give up! :)

    • Therese S. says:

Like Rainbow….my good days with Walgreens is all due to the CASHIER. When things work out, it’s because the cashier is very helpful making sure all the coupons work and RR are printed out.

On bad days, I’ve had no luck whatsoever getting my deals to line up, I end up leaving empty handed.

I find that shopping on off times help….early in the morning (Mon-Fri) or real late in the day (9-10pm M-F) Weekends have never been good to me.

  8. Karen says:

Last week I used the Huggies coupon out of the Walgreens book plus the manufacturer coupon ($2.50/3) and I had no problems.

My experience with using BOGO and 2 coupons varies from store to store. The main cashier in Mankato Madison Ave won’t take 2 but the cosmetics ladies will. Owatonna cosmetics ladies do also (side note she is just AWESOME). Anyway it depends on the cashier and the store in my opinion.

  9. Rhonda says:

If the Walgreen’s Coupon Booklets are MQ’s now we are going to lose out on some deals. I will have to check this out.

  10. s says:

the kleenex deal…the coupons listed above say they are good only on bundle packs….anyone try or get this deal yet?

  11. Lana says:

I had the same trouble with combining the coupon book coupons & insert cpns last wk on the wipes deal. The cashier said that the cpn bk is now manufacturer coupons. I’ve read somewhere that giving them the insert cpns first, then the cpn book (IVC) cpn will work, but I haven’t tried it myself. I’m not sure if the IVC cpns are actually manufacturer cpns if that’s really ethical as it would be stacking 2 manufacturer cpns. Any thoughts on this??

  12. Julie says:

Today I did the Schick razor deal with the $5 off coupon, and the razor at my Walgreens also had a coupon stuck to it for free shave gel with purchase of the razor!

  13. Sheila says:

I looked back at older receipts and it looked like I used Walgreens coupons and they rung up as manu coupons before soI went to a different Walgreens store and talked with a cashier there. She said another person tried the Kotex deal this morning and it wouldn’t work but she was willing to give it a try again. This time she scanned the Kotex U (2), scanned my manu coupons and then scanned the Walgreens $2.00 off and it worked great. She said it is all in how they are scanned in and it is not always the same. I think all is well if they are rung up in the right way.

  14. Kari says:

The $1/2 is for the Kleenex bundles not the single boxes. Bummer.

  15. Amy says:

I had a great day at Walgreens today and wanted to share a couple things I found. There are Humphreys teething strips ($7.49) that have a try me free rebate stuck on the front. There’s also a $1.50 coupon in the August Walgreens booklet, so a money maker after rebate. Also, there are Secret deodorants on clearance for $2.42 that also generate a $3.00 register reward!! Finally, I also bought a pack of 10 Bic razors that were B1G1 50% off and they let me use the B1G1 coupon from this past week and they took off the full price of one of the packs of razors!! This is such a great place to learn about awesome deals – thanks!

  16. Sue says:

I tried the Right Guard deal. I bought 2 Right Guard 3D Cool 3 oz. and they did not ring up BOGO. It was the only 3 oz. kind on the shelf. Wish Walgreens had price check machines in their store! Will they return them?

  17. elizabeth says:

i work at walgreens and it does depend what order the coupons are rung up.if it does not work the first time, just politely ask them to void them and try a different order.the kotex deal does work.and yess sue, walgreens will return the right guard.no receipt=store credit tho.i love my job and love making people like all of you happy(:

    • Jennifer M. says:

Elizabeth ~ hats off to you and all of the wonderful WAGS cashiers! Whenever I get a chance I am always sure to tell any of the managers when the cashiers deserve commendations. I know that does not happen enough, usually people only report the negative. But I had NEVER shopped at a WAGS store before starting to follow PYD and am so grateful for the deals I can get and when a cashier makes my shopping trips even more enjoyable, that is just icing on the cake! Thanks again and keep up the good work!

  18. jo says:

what is the best order to give coupons in? not only at wags but other stores as well?

    • Becky says:

Here is what I do at Walgreens:
      1. Manu coupons
      2. Store coupons (In ad or IVC)
      3. Register Rewards
      4. Cash/CC

Hope this helps and I’m not sure about other stores, sorry!

      • elizabeth says:

if you use register rewards first,it takes off more tax.then manufacture coupons, then walgreens coupons.ive tested it a couple times lol

  19. Jill W says:

Walgreens has a coupon for Domino Sugar priced at 2.19 but I also found at the Domino sugar website a coupon for .30 off http://www.dominosugar.com/CarbonFree/coupons.aspx
Dont know if this is cheap for those of you that only buy rock bottom but I need sugar right now. :)

  20. Vitali says:

I bought 2 Right Guard 3D Cool 3 oz. at the Walgreens at Penn/494 for BOGO and tried using the coupon from 7/25 Red Plum BOGO. First the cashier called her manager and the store manager wouldn’t let me use it because he claimed it was “fraud” if I don’t actually buy one. Thats is bull…we all know it but apperently their managers don’t. Went to a nearby one and it worked fine.

  21. Shelly says:

I got about $52 of stuff for $8 at Walgreens today – mostly school supplies, but I also did the Kotex U deal. I bought two as Carrie had in her list, and the register took off the $4 from their coupon book as well as my newspaper $1 coupon and my internet $1 coupon. So 50 cents each as I had hoped. And, probably because I bought those, the register printed out a coupon for a free box of Playtex Glide tampons. So, that was certainly a lucrative deal today! I didn’t try the Right Guard deodorant deal because it wasn’t marked on the shelf. Now I see on here that it is an unadvertised deal. Are most people finding this to be true? I noticed a comment in which they didn’t ring up that way.

    • Laura Wales says:

Shelly – I tried the Right Guard deal at the Champlin Walgreens two days ago. I think the key is to make sure you get that EXACT brand. It’s not marked on the shelf, but I figured if it didn’t work, I’d just return the items…no big deal. But it worked for me just fine.

Oh, and on the receipt it doesn’t look like a normal B1G1 deal because the deodorants both look like they rang up at full price, BUT at the bottom of my receipt it had a -2.80 “sale” at the bottom that must have been from the deodorant. So it’s a little wonky.

      • Sue says:

They had two different kinds of cool, but I chose the odor defense since it was the only one in 3 oz. It has yellow writing, I think the other had orange. I definitely didn’t get BOGO so I will return them.
