Target Shopping List 8/29 – 9/4/10

This content uses referral links. Read our disclosure policy for more info.

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

Lots of coupons expire on August 31, and we’ve highlighted them in red, but that might motivate you to make a trip to Target today or tomorrow.

As you get started shopping at Target we’d recommend getting familiar with Target’s price matching policy and Target’s coupon policy. You may want to bring printouts of these with you to the store so that you have them in case you run into issues. If you are new to Pocket Your Dollars, learn how to read this shopping list or troubleshoot problems when printing coupons.

Remember that this is a starting list of deals for the week. As readers leave comments with bargains they found at their local store or we get emails with deal ideas, we will update this list. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

Target fanatics should check out the ever-changing supply of Target online coupons, be sure to sign up for Target’s text-messaged coupons and browse Target’s weekly ad online.

Your turn: Did you find any other good deals at Target this week? Make sure to let us know!

On-Going Deals (Previously listed)

These items are listed from lowest final price to highest (and then my totally anal-retentive self ordered items that have the final price from lowest to highest starting price and then a third sort alphabetically. I say that only so you can tease me about my extreme love for patterns and ordered lists). Please leave a comment if a printable coupon is out of prints or the product is no longer at the specified price (maybe it was a temporary price cut?) and we will update the list to reflect that.

  1. Melissa says

Purchased the rest of our school supplies at Target today. If you are in need of composition notebooks, they are $1 each. I did, however, score a little deal in the regular school/home supply aisle (not the big back to school area). They had composition notebooks for 25 cents. Limited number left. Champlin Target.

Also, the Shout coupon of save $2/2 (travel aisle 97 cents) only rang up at $1 off. Had to go to customer service to get the other $2 back.

Thinking of going to Target this week for the 32" inch Sylvania LCD TV for $287. Anyone have any good or bad comments about those??

  3. marie says

    Carrie,

I know Charmin 18pk double rolls are on sale for $9.99 this week. I have Target $1 off coupons plus another $1 off manufac. coupon. Would this be a good time to use it as the Target one expires tomorrow. I haven't seen any other rockbottom sales lately and we are in need of toilet paper?

  4. Nicole Lang says

I printed the $.75/1 coupon off the Target website. When I got to the store it was price cut to $1.50. So in the end I paid $.75 for a 16 fl oz. size.

  5. Brenda P says

If anyone finds this deal (listed in Ongoing): Finish Quantumatic Starter Kit $5 (price cut)

could they please respond and let me know which Target you found it at? I've been tryng for weeks now wtihout luck finding the item at that price.

    Thanks.

    • jo says

No Target and Walmart have gone back to regilar prices on this item. Not a good deal at the moment – save your $3 coupon as tehya re good for another month I believe.

  6. Jenny says

went to the monticello target and used the $2/2 shout coupon for the shout wipes and they would not honor that coupon. she said that since the wipes were only travel size and 97c they could not do that because the coupon is for more than what it costs.

    • says

Jenny – I'd encourage you to keep a copy of Target's coupon policy with you since it specifically addresses this issue. The policy says (in my words) that they will adjust the value of the coupon down to equal $0.97 each so that you don't receive any credit on the rest of your order, but that they will accept them. I'd encourage you to write a polite, but disappointed email to Target's corporate office.

    Chef Michael’s Canine Creations 3 oz $0.87

I cant find the coupon for the free one of these in the 8-22 SS insert. Anyone else find the coupon?

    • Lee says

The Target Bagel Bites coupon expired on 8/28. There is a manufacturer coupon in the most recent issue of Womens Day also. Anyone know if either the Andover or Coon Rapids stores take expired Target coupons?

  8. Heather says

I printed 2 sobe target coupons today (.50 off) on the same computer and used with the B1G1 sobe game coupon for 2 free sobe. It hit the spot on this hot MN day!

  9. Aena says

I got the batteries last week, but I think I will double-check if they have any left this week. I had to wait for them to find them in the back storeroom, but they had a lot. Apparently they are discontinuing these. Couldn't find Chef Michael food at Apple Valley East last week. I have never seen the Nexcare bandages for $1.14. Has anyone seen them at this price?

  10. Susie says

Has anyone found the 1 subject composition notebooks with the extra Target coupons in them yet? I looked to no avail at two Targets. :(

    • says

I finally found them in Hudson…but the coupons were different than what other people found, so I didn't buy any. I did check Hudson several times, and this is the first time I found them, so it might be worthwhile to check again. The stores may be cleaning out their storage rooms and just putting everything out.

If you have the Fall into Savings manu. coupon booklet found at Cub…

Use the $1.50 off 2 6 pks of Mott's applesauce (they're $1.50 ea) makes them 75 cents per 6 pack of applesauce – great for lunches!

  12. marie says

Can someone please answer my question about the Charmin toilet paper so I don't send my husband out needlessly? I'd like to know if it's worth it or not.

    • Kathy says

      Marie,

This is the formula I learned from Everyday Cheapskate: Take the total Square Feet on the label, convert it to pennies, i.e., 430.8 sq ft (on my Cottonelle package) = $4.30. This is the price you are shooting for after store coupon and manufacturer coupon.

I haven't found anything that is equal to that, but if it isn't more than 2 times that amount, it is probably a good deal.

Carrie aims for $.25 per double roll.

  13. Rebecca S says

    Marie-

If you are really in need of toilet paper now, have him buy the 24 pack of double roll charmin. On sale for 11.99 minus your coupons comes out to about $o.41 per roll. The 18 pack would be about $0.44 per roll. Our target price is less than $0.34 per double roll so this is high. Target frequently does a giftcard deal with TP to get it down to the buy price or lower.

  14. Rebecca S says

I did the venus deal and my Target in Northfield let me use both of the BOGO cartridge coupons in the same transaction while only buying one package of cartidges. I got free Olay body wash and free Olay lotion!

  15. Brenda says

When I was at the Oakdale Target the other day, my cashier told me that Target takes coupons (both Target and Manufacturer) up to 90 days past the expiration. This hasn't been my experience in the past at Target. Does anyone know if something has changed, or if my cashier was misinformed?

  16. marie says

Thank you for answering the Charmin question. I had him just get some other cheap toilet paper for now. I looked at my coupons again and then don't expire until the end of Sept. so hopefully Target will have a deal and I can get my $2 off a pack then.

  17. Shelly says

I've had good luck in the past year being able to use expired coupons at Target. Even when others were saying they couldn't, it seemed like our Super Target was taking them even when they were kind of ridiculously expired. I specifically asked if there was any chance they'd take a Starbucks coupon that was months and months expired, and the cashier said, "oh, sure, no problem"! I've never done that again, but the cashier did say it was okay!

  18. Patty says

I've been told at several Targets that it ok to use expired q's. I use them at several different stores with out any issues.

  19. Shelly says

Can people share if they were able to get the Stayfree/Carefree deal listed. Carrie alerts us that it may just be at certain Target stores – it would be great to know which ones are participating! Thanks

  20. Tina says

I have a question about the Shout Wipes and First Aid kits. The cashier and 2 different managers told me that they would only take .97 off, even though I bought two, spent $1.94 and used a $2/2 coupon. They said the manufacturer did this to make sure I used it on things that were over $1 and that there was NO WAY they could adjust the coupon to take them both off. The $3/3 Johnson's coupon wouldn't go through either, but she told me it wasn't valid because I wasn't buying a "bandage". I called corporate and left a complaint and they said that was all they could do. Any other suggestions? I love keeping those little shout wipes in my purse…3 kids, enough said!

  21. Cecia says

Plymouth Target has plenty of .25 composition notebooks with $5 worth of coupons on the last page. $1 off Nutrigrain Bars (2), $1 off Tide Stain Release, $1 Energizer Batteries, and a couple more, pretty good deal considering you only have to spend $.25.

  22. Shelly says

I try to watch for good sales/coupons for the Flat Iron Steak at Target. It is really good, and nice for our occasional "steak splurge". Today at the Knollwood Supertarget they have it on sale for $3.84 lb, but then they have $2 off this purchase peelies. So I got a steak for us for $1.50 (total), and one for someone else for $1.05. The smallest one didn't have a peelie on it, and the nicest guy in the meat department told me he'd be glad to put one on there. He assured me it was fine and had probably just fallen off. He explained that they had an overstock of them, and we discussed how yummy they are : ) Kudos to the nice Target employee!

If anyone would be interested – I noticed they had a 3 lb sort of frozen party pack of chicken in 1/2 price clearance. They had a bunch in there. It's in a freezer thing in between the produce and meat section. They are a threesome combo of chicken wings; chicken nuggets and something else – maybe "bbq bites" (I didn't buy them). They were $5.50 instead of $11 and looked like basic heat and serve for a group or party.

But, I'm so disappointed. I responded to a post on here today and said that that Target has been taking expired coupons for the whole time I've been using this site. Today I specifically grabbed some Target coupons that I was thinking were on the verge of expiring. $1 off produce; $1 off a bakery item and a couple of others. Evidently I'm in denial about summer ending because they had an 8/28 expiration date. And the cashier said, "sorry, these are all expired" and didn't take them. So I stand corrected and don't know if it was just that cashier. A young guy that is not super friendly. If I can find the same coupons that aren't expired – will they give me $$ at customer service? I don't care for one item, but it was five $1 off coupons. There was a long line behind me.

  23. Rebecca S says

They should be able to credit you the coupons at customer service. I have had luck doing this at Cub. Usually they just do a price adjust on your order and credit your card. I've also had the money I should have saved put on a giftcard – still better than missing out!

  24. Debra says

I was just at the Champlin Target tonight and the Skintimate and Kandoo wipes were not the price that is on here. Has anyone checked these at a different Target this week??

  25. Aira says

I don't think I saw this posted on here yet. Pepsi product 12 packs are $1.99. There's a Target coupon for $1 off Mountain Dew on their website, so it's 99 cents for a 12 pack. If you have a Marketplace near you there's a manufacturer coupon in their ad for a free diet Pepsi product 12 pack with the purchase of three Pepsi products. The coupon took $1.99 off when I used it, so I paid about $2 for 4 12 packs.

  26. Rebecca S says

They usually have a whole section of travel-size items. I find they are most often near the personal care section of the store. That's where I've always found travel size Tide.

  27. Jane says

I looked at the Carefree deal yesterday at N ST Paul Target. You had to buy two of the 92 ct box of Carefree for 5.29 to get the 5.00 GC. I didn't think it was a good deal. I didn't see the Stayfree sale at all there.

I did get the 2/2.00 Shout Travel packs there and they adjusted it to get them free. I made sure to look and the boy at the register was so cool too.

However, the Glade Tough Odor Solutions Carpet & Room $1.99 deal didn't work for me. The coupons were for two different Glade products, so he tried twice and read to see, but it clearly wasn't the same product.

  28. Jane says

Travel tide was in the Pharmacy area at Vadnais and NSP Targets. Since the remodels, they have different areas where they put the travel sizes. Hope that helps???

  29. Shelly says

That's too bad that the Stayfree deal isn't at every Target, Jane. Both of our St. Louis Park Targets are doing it. So I got two packs for $6.69 total, but then got the $5 giftcard to pay for my other stuff, so really two big packs for $1.69. The price was $5.59 each. The B1G1 coupon takes off a maximum of $4.49, hence the extra $1.10 added to the $5.59 for total price. But one of the packs had 8 free pads, so it was a total of 40. That seemed like a really, really good deal for that many pads of that brand. That coupon did expire on Tuesday, but I had no problem using it yesterday. I couldn't get the $1 off coupon Carrie references in the deal, but that would make it an even better deal, and I'm sure my Target would have taken it.

I was at Blaine target, they DID NOT have the Everready AA 48ct batteries. The dept. sales person said they prob will NOT be restocking either. BUT Northtown Target has PLENTY, 20+ pks. $6 pk, I got 2!

AND I purchased the buy two ink cart. and get 10$ gift card, The inks that I needed were NOT apart of the deal in a blk/color double pk, so I bought them separately, which WERE apart of the deal. All in all the cost of the ink packs separtely was more expensive, so in the end the gift card was only worth @ 4$. eh…

  31. Rebecca S says

The September All You magazine has a $2/2 Glade tough odor solutions coupon, making them free when combined with the Target coupon.

  32. sharon says

Shelly, I agree with you – I've never had an expired coupon refused at Target (unless I have bad luck and am "directed" into the crabby coupon-Nazi lady's line, and she reads every single line of print on my coupon and gleefully exclaims that my coupon is expired).

I read here awhile ago that if the computer accepts the coupon, the cashier ought to accept it too; this was a direct quote from someone at the corporate office. However, Target coupons are exempt from this policy – only manufacturer's coupons could possibly be accepted once expired.

If we all continue to complete those surveys (the ones you sometimes get at the bottom of your receipts) and comment about our frustrating experiences when using coupons at Target, maybe they will start to listen? There's power in numbers.
