Hey everybody! It’s Carrie and I am back from a wonderful vacation. Be sure you cut out the prescription coupon from this week’s ad as it doesn’t expire until October 16 (the day before my birthday, in case you are keeping track!) and might come in handy. Also, there are a number of other manufacturer’s coupons in the ad that can be used at any retailer that accepts coupons.
If you shop at Copps and your ad doesn’t match the items mentioned in this shopping list, then check out what we saw for sales last week.
Two things to remember about this list of deals. First, it does not include every sale-priced item that has a coupon. It only has those items whose final price is low enough for us to mention it. Second, it is a starting list: as we learn of more deals whose final price is low enough, we will update this list. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

Buy 6 Boxes or General Mills Cereal at Regular Price, Get $10 Off Instantly at Checkout and Coupons for a Gallon of Roundy’s Milk Free and 1 Dozen Roundy’s Eggs Free on a future visit
A few notes:
– The ad does not specify, but in times past you only received the $10 off when you scanned your Roundy’s loyalty card at the time of purchase.
— I bet, but won’t guarantee, that all the General Mills cereal printable coupons say “do not double” on them.
— In my experience with the free milk coupons generated from a General Mills promotion they take off $3.25 off your next order that includes milk, regardless of the price of the milk. Ditto with the egg coupon taking off $1.75 regardless of the value of the eggs.
— This is one case where I bring all my cereal coupons with me. It helps a lot when they are sold out of a kind I wanted.
— To easily figure out if you are getting a good deal work backwards. For instance, I won’t pay more than $1 per box of cereal, which would mean my final price needs to be $6 or less for all 6 boxes. From there, add in the $10 you’ll get off for buying six boxes; this means the price for all 6 boxes can’t be more than $16. Then, add in whatever coupons you have (and double 5 of them, if that applies). Let’s say you had five $1/1 coupons that could be doubled and one $0.75/1 coupon; add $10.75 more (five $1 coupons, doubled to $10, plus the $0.75 for the last coupon) to bring your pre-coupon, pre-discount total to $26.75. What is $26.75? That is the highest price that all six boxes can total if you want to buy at a target price of $1 per box. The nice thing about this method is that it doesn’t count the value of the milk as part of what it takes to reach your target price.
Buy 6 and use combination of the following coupons:

Buy $20 worth of Kimberly-Clark products and use a Roundy’s loyalty card, Get a free box of Kleenex on your current grocery order and $5 off your next shopping trip
A few notes:
– You won’t get the deal if you don’t have the cashier scan your free Roundy’s loyalty card before your order is complete. You can get a card at the Customer Service counter.
– The ad reads “$20 worth of Kimberly Clark products” not “select Kimberly Clark products” so I assume any of their products are eligible, even if they are not on sale and advertised in this week’s ad.
— This promotion runs through August 31, although the sale priced items are likely only going to be around this week.
– I am not putting together a deal idea with this because, apart from using multiple coupons on something like Poise Liners or Glade Plug-Ins, nothing will be free or close to it. My personal favorite items are the Scott paper towels and TP, since I think they are at a good price even without the extra $5 off. Also, with enough coupons the Huggies wipes could be a great deal and the big box of diapers plus a Kleenex could be a good price.
Advertised sale items with coupons are listed below:
Poise Liners $2.49
Use $1/1 from 8/15 Smart Source insert

If you are planning to stop at Mike’s discount foods in Fridley–check the weekly online ad for Bob’s produce too to see if there are any specials there to make it worth the stop as it’s just across the street from the Mike’s in Fridley. Also, Bob’s has a clearance section usually on a tall multi-shelf bakers type rack towards the bananas. If you want to hit another place in the same area for deals, be sure to check out the Concept 2Bakery-used to be a McGlynn’s outlet store and now sells mostly breads. (It’s on Commerce Lane between 73rd and Osborne Rd.) I can’t recall for sure but it’s like 3 loaves for $2 or something very reasonable. The variety of breads varies from day to day and from morning to afternoon. We’ve gotten foccacia rolls for 10 cents each, chocolate bread, rye bread, whole grain bread, etc. It can be frozen once brought home and it’s very good bread!

Great shopping trip !!!! $138.00 for $27.00 AWESOME
THANKS!!!!!
Carrie – just wanted to say a big thanks for doing these lists. I “fell off the wagon” for a while this summer with coupons and deal matching just because we were so busy, but I am back at it again and had one my best trips ever. Did two transactions and got the cereal deal. Had my favorite cashier that lets everything double (even the DND’s). My first transaction which included the cereal was only $15 for 6 boxes of cereal, bananas, grapes, 2 bags of pretzels, and 3 boxes of the Planers nut bars! This blog has really helped transform my financial life. We are budgeting, saving more, paying our debt off, and feeling much less stress about money.
Perdure chicken breast were on sale also yesterday at my Rainbow (the Quarry), they were 1.99/lb, so with the cupon from the “red hot savings” booklet, they were free.
I went today, because I didn’t have the cupon with me yesterday, and they raised the price to 3.99 a pound. I bought it anyway, but when they scanned, it was still marked at 1.99/lb, so I got for free this morning. You may want to try… :)
I had the same thing happen last night at Copps. You can’t beat free chicken. They said it was marked down because it was expiring today.
mine expires the 30th
my chicken was marked high I got the cheapest pack for $6.56 when I got home my receipt said $1.23 under it said you saved $5.33 then I had the coupon at the bottom. I am hoping to go back!
I don’t know if it will make any difference if the chicken is already free (takes it off your total bill, I guess) but there’s a $2 off Purdue chicken coupon here http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?bt=wg&tqnm=zhysejz83565340&o=65436&pt&lang&ws&ct&ci&cl&cp&eb=1&c=PD&p=751787&z&r&pc&tc
Also, I haven’t been able to locate the coupon again, maybe someone has seen it, but I printed a $1 off any Nabisco cookies or crackers coupon and took it with me to Rainbow last night. They had resealable pouches of cookies (Oreo bites, Nutter Butter bites, etc. Maybe 10-12 ounce packages?) and boxes of crackers (I got Cheese Nips, 11.75 ounces) priced at 4 for $5. With the doubled coupon, it made each package 25 cents. A great deal for lunches!
I did the same Nabisco deal! Here’s the link to the coupon… http://print.coupons.com/Couponweb/Offers.aspx?pid=14552&nid=20&zid=bg78
Thanks Cindy! It’s a great deal on full size containers!
Hmm. Wonder where I’m getting $2. It’s $1 off.
?? is this a good price for the soda? – limit 4 , but can you buy more in a future trip or is 4 per household?
Sofi, Yes, this is a good price for name brand soda. I only stock up for the teenagers that hang out at my house when it’s $1.75 or less per 12 pack. This price is $1.77, so that is close enough. The only time I’ve gotten it even cheaper was right before the 4th of July weekend, but that was because Target generously let me match a price from a grocery store and then use one of their coupons. It may be less for Labor Day weekend, but probably not much. I don’t know if there is a household limit since I was only purchasing 4 of them anyway.
Shelly— Thanks for your response very much appreciated !!
The West St. Paul Rainbow also voided the Perdue chicken coupon and had the packages at $1.99 a pound. Most of the packages were about 1 1/2 pounds and they had many of them. There seemed to be no limit, so picked up six of them. I grilled three packages outside today to cut up and put in the freezer…the other three went straight to the freezer for dinner this fall.
I love finding great deals like this on chicken, as we eat so much of it in our house. Plus, it helped me get one of my transactions to the $25 mark!
I am wondering if anyone knows anything about the new pick’n save black cards? I am still using the old green one, but see that they are trying to get the new card here in Wisconsin. Is there any new special perks with it?
I live near Appleton and we have switched to the black card. Right now they are offering different promotions. One is spend $50 in Huggies get $5 off your next purchase. The promotions is going on for about a month and a half. There are seven different promotions all along the same lines.
Well, I have to admit that I was just not getting the fuel perks thing….BOY, do I get it now!!! I paid 46 cents a gallon and could, repeat, could hardy get the total to $7.50 to fill my van!!!!!
Thank you PYD!!!
Rainbow on Penn Ave in Blmgtn is selling the Perdue chicken breasts at $1.99/lb and skipping the coupon, per phone call a few minutes ago.
For the General Mills deals, I found the cheapest cereal is the Golden Graham cereal 12 oz for $2.79 each. For 6 of them = 6.74 (after $10 off). Used 3 $1 off 2 mfr coupons and doubles and so for $0.74 I got coupons for a gallon of milk and a dozen eggs.
I was just at Pick n save in Milwaukee and they wouldn’t take any of my printed coupons. They said it was a new corporate policy. Has anybody else had this happen? I asked the manager to please let corporate know that I would have to shop at a store that will take printables.
Athenos Feta Cheese is BOGO free at the Rainbow in Savage. I paired it with another BOGO free coupon to receive free cheese!
Not sure if this was mentioned by anyone, but apparently my Kotex purchase triggered a Playtex Catalina for a free box! Since I did two transactions back to back, I got two of them so I was thrilled to see that since they will make great fillers for weeks when I’m not quite to $25!
Did anyone else get this? I almost wanted to go back and do a third transaction since on each one I got the $5 Kimberly-Clark coupon, the free Kleenex and the Playtex catalina! ;)
