Arc’s Value Village has a buy 3, get 1 free kids’ clothing sale going on now through August 14. This sale includes outerwear but does not include white or orange tagged items. This must be their version of a back-to-school sale, hmmm?

DEALSmart. So apparently there’s this store called DEALSmart in Mounds View (which has apparently been around for a while) that offers merchandise for 40-80% off traditional retail prices. They carry apparel, food, housewares, toys, and much more, including a wide variety of items for $0.99 each. Shipments arrive daily, and every Tuesday and Friday at 9:00 they receive a new shipment of Brownberry breads (my family’s favorite) that they sell for just $1.09 a loaf. (Seriously?!) A new location in Little Canada just opened up, too. Check their online ad for the latest sales and coupons.

Your turn: Have you ever been to DEALSmart before? Is it worth checking out on a regular basis, or is it just a one-time thing for you?

  1. DealSmart is the same store as Petters, it’s just under a new name (likely because of the negative goodwill associated with “Petters”…would that be badwill?…)
IMO, DealSmart is ok to check out if it’s convenient, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to shop there. There’s a lot of junk with some hidden treasures.

Going there for the Brownberry bread is worth it. You can buy 5 loaves at a time and it usually lasts us for a couple of weeks. The bread can be close to the expiration date so we freeze them right away and then put our current loaf in the refrigerator. Works great.

DealsMart is not a one time thing for me but not an every week either. There are constantly new items coming into the store so you never know what you will find. I have purchased picture frames, clothes, toys, food, toiletries, and lots more. It is somewhere between Family Dollar and TJMax. Now that I have established my own “rock bottom prices” there are things that I will not buy. But you never know what you will find. Along with their “staples” there are items that may have been over-stock, scratch-and-dent, or maybe what some people call “fell off a truck.” This weekend I got a box of Cheez-Its for 99cents. There were some on the shelf that were dented in one corner but the box I found was perfect. If you are in the North Metro area I definitely suggest checking it out. Especially if you are looking for deals on non-grocery/non-coupon items.

I went to DealSmart for the 1st time last week and found lots of good things like the bread mentioned above….Good quality bagels and a few Fiber One Muffin mixes for 99cents. They had just expired, but I made one mix so far and they were great. It was fun looking all around to see what they had.

I noticed a smaller Thrift store a few stores down from Dealsmart, but did not have time to go there.. Has anybody gone there? Good, bad?
