Coupons for Teachers + Teacher Appreciation Days

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

We’ve seen plenty of deals on school supplies over the last few weeks, so parents have no doubt been stocking up. But what about deals for teachers? When I (Laura) was a high school English teacher, I had to buy supplies for my classroom at the beginning of and throughout the school year. I was reimbursed for part of the costs, but much of it came out of my pocket. I say this not to complain, but rather to point out that teachers need to look for good deals, too.

Here are two printable coupons that teachers can use at Lakeshore Learning Store: one is for a free Teacher’s Plan Book with any $20 purchase, the other is for 15% off any single non-sale item. Both coupons expire 9/5/10. You’ll need to present the coupon(s) and your Teacher’s Club card at the time of purchase. If you’re not already a Teacher’s Club member, ask at the store how you can join to start saving on classroom items.

In addition, check out Deal Seeking Mom’s fabulous list of Teacher Appreciation Days at Barnes & Noble, Big Lots, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Michaels, Office Depot, Office Max and Staples. Many of these dates are coming up soon (as in, this weekend), so get your plan of action ready to go (although I know you’re probably still a little reluctant to jump back into the school year). Please note that most, if not all, of these Teacher Appreciation Days apply to homeschool parents, too.

Check my list of educator discounts to see how else you can save with your school ID.

Your turn: Teachers, how else do you save on preparations/supplies for the new school year?

I am really sad that some of these major companies have put restrictions as to who they will recognize as a teacher. They have forgotten about early childhood educators, Home and Center based child cares and even home schooling parents. It seems you are only a teacher if you have a state/county identification and a couple other requirements. I think some very important people are forgotten (or excluded)
