**If you haven’t checked this out yet, today (August 10) is the last day! The final movie is How to Train Your Dragon in 3D.
Taking your kids to movies is a great way to beat the heat, but you might not be willing to cough up the price for tickets. This summer, AMC is once again offering their Summer MovieCamp, where you can see select kids movies for just $1 at 10am on Tuesdays from June 15 through August 10. All admission and concession proceeds will benefit two AMC charities: Variety – The Children’s Charity and the Will Rogers Institute.
Movies shown will include Shrek the Third, Madagascar, Monsters vs. Aliens, and more. You can buy tickets in advance starting approximately one week prior to the scheduled show date so that you don’t have to worry about getting there early the day of.
To find a location near you, check the list of participating locations. There are 214 locations nationwide, so there’s a good chance you’ll find one near you. For our Twin Cities readers, the Arbor Lakes, Block E, Coon Rapids, Eden Prairie, Inver Grove, Rosedale, and Southdale AMC locations are all participating.
For more activities you and your kids can do for free or close-to-free this summer, check out the “summer 2010” tag.
Your turn: Which movie(s) are you planning to take your kids to in order to beat the heat?

FYI Rogers has free movies on Wendsdays NO TICKETS, but I assume you need to come early to make sure you get a seat.

It’s also the same at Monticello http://www.mullerfamilytheatres.com/theatre.php?t=Monticello
The wording for Monticello isn’t worded quite as clearly as Rogers. Is Monticello the same? Free? No ticket required?
Lakeville;s Muller Family Theater has a deal happening for FREE movies with a ticket you can pick up at local Subways.

The list of movies is also found here.
When I asked at the theater they mentioned it is “first come-first seated” and they open at 915am.
Excellent! I’ll be sure to post this in an upcoming local deals post. Thanks, ladies!
these are popular but I have never been turned away from any movie in the last 3yrs.
You should have mentioned that the $1 and concession ($4kids pac) are going to charity. This is my closest theatre and I was totoally bummed that they were charging now. Until I looked it up and saw it was for charity. The other bummer is I didn’t even recognize one of the charities.
All admission and concession proceeds will benefit two AMC charities, Variety – The Children’s Charity and the Will Rogers Institute.
Anita – Thanks. I added the charity info.
Marcus Theatres are running a similar program called “Kids Rule”. The tickets are $2.75 and include popcorn.
