This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

OfficeMax has four for sale online that will be free after MaxPerks Rewards. You’ll get free shipping once you buy $50 in merchandise.

MaxPerks Rewards is OfficeMax’s free loyalty program that is open to businesses or teachers, including home schoolers. Unfortunately, they don’t offer a program that is open to the general populous :(

I prefer the MaxPerks program over any other office supply rewards program because I have always been able to buy products that generate MaxPerks Rewards using Rewards I’ve previously earned. I just re-read the program’s terms and conditions (link on the bottom of this page) and don’t see anything in there that prohibits that. Using that approach, I can buy these things now and will keep my eyes open for a free after Rewards copy paper deal down the road.

Earn 100% MaxPerks Rewards on these products:

Heavy Duty 1″ Reference Binders $6.49 (Limit 6)

Heavy Weight 1/3 cut Manila Folders 50-ct box $8.99 (Limit 6)

College Ruled Filler Paper $1.99 (Limit 6)

2-Pocket Folders Without Fasteners 24-ct box $8.99 (Limit 6)

Your turn: Are you going to buy some supplies through this promo?

Comments

  1. I loved the idea of getting $50 of school supplies for "free", so I ordered some two days ago. My doorbell just rang & it was my box from Office Max! = )

  2. Carrie

What about Office Depots Worklife Rewards – can you buy items that generate new ones with your rewards as well? If not I may switch to Office Max.

    • Jo – Nope, with Office Depot you won't earn new rewards if you pay for a product with rewards you've previously earned :(

      • Thats too bad – I have gotten pretty good reward amount this month with very little OOP from them – I will have to switch to Office Max

  3. Carrie, I used to work at OfficeMax and any person can actually sign up for MaxPerks through the "business" program, you don't actually need to be any sort of a business owner to receive these perks!

  4. I don't quite understand…I just signed up today (I am a homeschooling mom). Do I pay full price for these things now and then I will be credited for the full amount in a month or so? Please help me understand how this works. Thanks!~

  5. Carrie, I have a question. A couple of months ago, did you say that you had problems using previous rewards to buy new rewards and it was no longer like being able to "roll over" the money?

  6. Jenn — pay now and then receive MaxPerks Rewards for the items purchase price (less any coupons used) in the middle of August (business/personal rewards accounts) or the end of October (teachers rewards account).

Regarding the use of MaxPerks Rewards from the programs FAQ: "Reward Card(s) can be redeemed for almost everything OfficeMax sells in stores, by phone and online, except OfficeMax brand gift cards. Cards cannot and may not be applied as payment to any credit account." The rewards card can be printed from the MaxPerks rewards site and expire in about 90 days (usually at the end of the third full month after the rewards are made available).

lurae — In the past, MaxPerks rewards definitely rolled. There was a recent 20% back promotion that used the programs standard "qualified purchase" term that suggested rewards would not roll. The current 100% back promotion does not have that "qualified purchase" term.

    A couple of other points:

    – From the way I read the terms and conditions of this offer, the only OfficeMax 2-Pocket Folders without Fasteners that qualify for this promotion are the Assorted Colors, 24/pk. Also, the only OfficeMax Filler Paper that qualifies is the College ruled:

"Bonus Rewards are available only for items marked with the MaxPerks Bonus Rewards symbol. All Bonus Rewards are available from July 11, 2010 to July 17, 2010. $10 Bonus Reward offer on 2 ink multipacks of any national brand ink, excludes OfficeMax branded ink, ink refill, and XL cartridges. 100% Bonus Reward on [IN]PLACE® Heavy Weight Manila File Folders, 1/3 Cut, Letter size, 50 per Box, [IN]PLACE Heavy-Duty Reference Binders, OfficeMax Filler Paper, College, OfficeMax 2-Pocket Folders Without Fasteners, Assorted Colors, 24/pk, limit 6, available online only. For $20 Bonus Reward on Kodak Z915 10 Megapixel 10x optical zoom Black Digital Camera, limit 2, maximum $40 bonus reward per member, available online only. Member's MaxPerks ID card must be presented at the time of purchase; no Bonus Rewards adjustments will be made after purchase. Bonus Reward offers valid in-store, online and phone orders unless otherwise indicated. For percentage-based Bonus Rewards, percentage of Bonus Rewards issued is based upon price actually paid by member, as advertised price can be reduced by any applicable coupon or discount. Bonus Rewards will be issued in the next statement cycle. Bonus Rewards, along with any other Rewards a member may have earned during the same period, will be issued in the form of a reward card redeemable toward future purchases."

    – When checking the MaxPerks rewards site to see if the rewards have attached, please keep in mind that the site might update in stages. For example, it is not uncommon for the purchase to update a few days after shipment while the rewards for the purchase might not update for a few days after that.

To check the status of the rewards, log into the rewards site (www.officemaxperks.com) and then click on "View Details". Scroll down to the heading "Detailed Transactions". There will be a transaction log with the following column headers:

Post Date // Transaction Date // Activity // Transaction Amount // Qualified Amount // Rewards Earned

To check if the rewards have been earned, check the Rewards Earned column. If the rewards do not total the correct amount, click on the word "Purchase" in the "Activity" column. This will bring up a popup that will show which purchases qualified for rewards and which did not — an "X" in the "Bonus Eligibility" column will denote those purchases that qualify.

The "Qualified Amount" column represents the purchases that qualify toward the $25 reward for making $500 in qualified purchases. If the purchase was paid for by a qualified method (cash, cc, etc) the purchase amount will show. If the purchase was paid for by MaxPerks Rewards card, which is not a qualified purchase method, the purchase amount will not show.
