Now that I (Laura) have a toddler, I just love finding out about free or cheap stuff for kids. For example, last night I took my sister and my son to Applebee’s for dinner (without a coupon – gasp!) and discovered that Tuesday is kids’ night at Applebee’s where all kids’ menu items are just $0.99, so I was able to feed my son a full meal (and have a bunch left over) for super cheap.
I say that because there’s a kids deal this summer at the Science Museum (see below) for one free child’s admission with a paid adult. If you’re already planning to go, why not save some money while you’re at it?
Three Rivers Park District Golf. July 5-11 is Take Your Family to the Golf Course Week in which children ages 17 and under receive free greens fees after 3pm when accompanied by a greens fee-paying adult. Advanced tee times are recommended.
The Science Museum of Minnesota is offering Dead Sea Scrolls Family Nights in which you can get one free child’s admission with a paid adult, plus family-friendly activities including make-and-take projects. These Family Nights will occur every Wednesday night after 5pm through August 18.
Summer Faire at Arbor Lakes. This concert series takes place on Thursday nights from 6-8pm starting July 8 and running through August 19 at The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes. Enjoy free live music and free kids face painting. Present this coupon at The Shoppes’ table to receive a special Summer Offer sheet with coupons valid at 20 retailers (expires 7/30).
Minnesota Centennial Showboat. Get a buy one, get one free deal to the July 9 & 10 performances of Triumph of Love on the Minnesota Centennial Showboat when you call 651.227.1100 and mention the code STAR DOT DEAL. Friday and Saturday tickets are normally $30, Saturday matinee tickets are normally $25.
Your turn: Have you checked out the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the Science Museum yet? What did you think of it?

We loved the Science Museum Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit! That being said, I was VERY glad to go with my 12 year old & not my younger children. They (ages 9 & 5) would’ve gotten antsy or bored with it rather quickly, as so much of it is stuff you listen to, read, look at or watch. There is very little that his hands on. But like I said, for teens and adults, it is fascinating! Also, if your scheduled time for the exhibit is extremely crowded, talk to the people at the exhibit door. They can tell you when there aren’t as many people scheduled to go through, so you can have a more relaxed, enjoyable experience. You do not need to switch your ticket to do this.
Osseo also has free movies in the park on Tuesday nights. It is a great free activity.
