Free Luggage from Delta SkyMiles. The first 200 people who turn in their used (but still functional) carry-on bag at the Minneapolis Aquatennial on Saturday, July 24 between 5:30-11pm at the corner of West River Parkway and Portland Avenue will get a voucher for a new, full-size bag to be redeemed at the American Express Lounge. Redbull Flugtag. OK, so I saw a commercial for this on TV a few days ago and had no idea what was going on. At first it looked like one of those “Wipeout” commercials, y’know? Apparently what people do is build and pilot homemade flying machines off a 30-foot high flight deck. Teams are judged on flight distance, creativity of the craft, and showmanship. The Victory Prairie Off-Leash Recreation Area in North Minneapolis will be dedicated on July 24 from 10am-12pm. This dog park is located at 47th Ave. N and Russell Ave. N and will provide a safe place for dogs to play. The event will feature refreshments for dog owners and a “doggie” bag for all dogs. Dog-owners will be able to purchase off-leash recreation area permits and pet licenses, both of which are required to use the park.
Creative Kidstuff is hosting yet another Kids Council this Sunday, July 25 at 6:30pm. Kids ages 5-7 years old can participate at the West End or Woodbury locations, and kids ages 3-5 can test toys at the Galleria or West Des Moines (!) locations. The Brain store opens at MOA and Sunday there is a demonstration of a new trend in sports called Slacklining. It’s free and may be a new sport for kids of all ages to try!
We went to Flugtag on Satureday and there were 100,000 ppl there. It was crazy! We only stayed an hour because you couldn’t see anything and it was nerve racking to have my 5 and 3 yr old in standing only room.
