Aldi Shopping List 7/4 – 7/10/10

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

First-time Aldi shoppers, remember to bring a quarter (not 25 cents, but a quarter) for the refundable deposit on your cart and bring your own grocery bags. They take cash or debit card, but not credit card. Find an Aldi near you.

If it helps you appreciate Aldi a little more, read Wikipedia’s article about them and learn that Aldi is owned by the parent company that owns Trader Joe’s. Don’t forget Aldi’s double guarantee too, where you will get a replacement product AND a refund if you are not 100% satisfied.

If you don’t live near an Aldi, but can get your hands on an ad remember that Target and Walmart will price match equivalent produce items (if sold in the same quantity, packaging, etc.) and Walmart will price match generics if they carry a Great Value brand in the same size/quantity.

Produce

Nectarines. $0.25 each. Depending on the size of the fruit this is a good price. I bought some a few weeks back at this price as I think, by my informal weighing system (holding them in my hand), that they were3 pieces to a pound.

Peaches. $0.25 each.

Plums. $0.25 each.

Cantaloupe. $0.99 each. This is a rock bottom price.

Cherries. $1.69/lb. Now this, my friends, is a good price.

Other Grocery Deal

Yes, I know Aldi has lots of items at good everyday low prices, but this section highlights the items, er…this week it is just one item, from the sales flyer that is a good price.

Fit N Active Whole Wheat Pasta $0.79. This is the price after a sale and coupon at one local grocery store near me.

Can you pit and freeze cherries? I have canned them when I was younger with my mom but wonder on freezing them?

    • julie says:

Yes you can freeze cherries. I just came back from Door County this past weekend and got some great tips from an orchard owner. She said to actually freeze them with the pits still in the cherries. Then when you are ready to use them remove as many as you want and while they are still slightly frozen the pits will remove easily and the juice will stay in the cherry better.

  2. Dawn N says:

THANKS!!!!! Much easier then canning them. Worth a try.

  3. Tricia says:

I managed to find blueberries at Aldi yesterday marked down from $1.49 to .99 cents per pint. And they were in GOOD shape. (Often I seem to run into bruised, close-to-over-ripe/rotten produce at Aldi.)

I was in my local Walmart on the 5th and they were selling cantaloupes for $.78 a piece!
