Aldi Shopping List 7/11 – 7/17/10

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

First-time Aldi shoppers, remember to bring a quarter (not 25 cents, but a quarter) for the refundable deposit on your cart and bring your own grocery bags. They take cash or debit card, but not credit card. Find an Aldi near you.

If it helps you appreciate Aldi a little more, read Wikipedia’s article about them and learn that Aldi is owned by the parent company that owns Trader Joe’s. Don’t forget Aldi’s double guarantee too, where you will get a replacement product AND a refund if you are not 100% satisfied.

If you don’t live near an Aldi, but can get your hands on an ad remember that Target and Walmart will price match equivalent produce items (if sold in the same quantity, packaging, etc.) and Walmart will price match generics if they carry a Great Value brand in the same size/quantity.

Produce

Blueberries. $0.99 per pint.

Broccoli. $0.99 per 14 ounce package.

Pineapple. $1.49 each.

Multi-colored Peppers. $1.69 per 3-pack. This is not the lowest we’ve seen them at Aldi, but it’s been awhile since they were on sale. Other than growing your own, anyone know where you can buy multi-colored peppers for less this week?

Other Sale-Priced Grocery Deals

Yes, I know Aldi has lots of items at good everyday low prices, but this section highlights the item(s) from the sales flyer that are a good price.

Turkey Franks. $0.89 per 12-ounce package.

Instant Brown Rice. $1.35 for 14-ounce. This is a good price for brown rice, although I’ve never had or made instant brown rice. Can anyone tell us what the difference is between instant and slow cooking brown rice? (By the way, about 2 months ago I found 2 lb bags of brown rice at my local grocery store that doubles coupons with peel-off coupons on the package and an unadvertised price reduction. I got 2 lb bags for less than $1 each. Wahoo!)

Your turn: What’s an everyday buy for you at Aldi?

  1. Mr. J says:

Brown rice has more health benefits than the refined, bleached white rice. The longer it takes to cook, the more healthier it is. Short grain brown rice is the most nutricious since it is in it’s whole stage. With conventional stove top cooking, short grain brown rice takes 45 minutes to cook. Eat a cup of this a day and you will become a whole new person.
