Minneapolis Free Summer Concert Series. Held at four different concert venues throughout the summer, this free outdoor concert series features a variety of musical styles from jazz to classical, from solo artists to full orchestras. The concert series started on Memorial Day (May 31) and ends Labor Day (September 6) with concerts held daily at various locations. Go to the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board website for the most up-to-date schedules.
Carver County Historical Society. Maybe this will only be interesting to musical theater nerds like me, but there will a free exhibit about Chanhassen opened yesterday at the Carver County Historical Society on May 31. “The Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, 42 Years of Magic” display will run through October 31.
International Children’s Festival will be held at the Ordway from June 1-6. Performing artists from around the world take to the stage for two days (June 5-6). Tickets to shows at the festival are $5 a person, and there are other free outdoor activities throughout the weekend, too. You can bring your gently used books to the Festival’s Books for Africa tent in Rice Park on June 5 or 6, as well.
