Aldi Shopping List 6/20 – 6/26/10

First-time Aldi shoppers, remember to bring a quarter (not 25 cents, but a quarter) for the refundable deposit on your cart and bring your own grocery bags. They take cash or debit card, but not credit card. Find an Aldi near you.

If it helps you appreciate Aldi a little more, read Wikipedia’s article about them and learn that Aldi is owned by the parent company that owns Trader Joe’s. Don’t forget Aldi’s double guarantee too, where you will get a replacement product AND a refund if you are not 100% satisfied.

If you don’t live near an Aldi, but can get your hands on an ad remember that Target and Walmart will price match equivalent produce items (if sold in the same quantity, packaging, etc.) and Walmart will price match generics if they carry a Great Value brand in the same size/quantity.

Your turn: Any idea roughly how many nectarines, peaches or plums are in a pound?

Produce

Nectarines. $0.29 each.

Peaches. $0.29 each.

Plums. $0.29 each.

Strawberries. $0.99 per pound. Last time they were on sale at this price I bought two pounds, sliced and froze them since we wouldn’t eat them all before they went bad.

Cherries. $2.99 per pound. This seems to be the going price for these this season. Have you seen them for less anywhere?

Other Groceries

Mustard. $0.69 for 14 oz bottle.

L’oven Fresh Burger or Hot Dog Buns. $0.79 per 12-oz package.

Little Salad Bar Potato, Macaroni, or Coleslaw Salads. $1.39 per pound.**
**You can get potato or macaroni salad for as low as $1.28/lb this week at Cub Foods, but you’ll have to purchase a 4lb container and use a coupon.

Bacon Wrapped Beef Fillet. At $1.79 each (for 5 oz filet) this is beneath my $5.99/lb buy price for beef tenderloin and fillet mignon.

I am passionate about helping people keep their money where it belongs - in their pocket. I live in Minneapolis, MN with my husband and two little girls.

prices must be different in different areas our aldi add says the strawberries are $1.19 which still isn’t bad, I picked ten pounds at our local berry patch but because of the early start to the year they are already done, they were $1.35 a lb there, but so nice when they are fresh

Cherries were on sale at Rainbow last week for $1.99/lb.

  6. Claire

Cherries have been on sale at Rainbow on 2 different occasions this season for $1.99/lb and a couple of weeks ago they were on sale at Cub for $2.28/lb. So, I don’t think $2.99/lb is a good deal.

Rosemount Aldi’s has the strawberries for 99 cents per pound this week.
