Rainbow Foods, Copps, Pick N Save Shopping List 5/23 – 5/29/10

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

It is that week of the year when the deals are wild at Rainbow Foods, Copps, and Pick N Save because of the deluge of new Kraft and Unilever coupons and corresponding promotions. This same thing happened about this same time last year, and I just used up my last serving of Crystal Light from that frenzy, so I’ll be glad to get more free this week (we only serve it when we have company for dinner. It is cheaper than pop, since it’s free) :)

If you shop at Copps and your ad doesn’t match the items mentioned in this shopping list, then check out what we saw for sales last week.

Read the rules of coupon doubling before you go so you understand how to ensure you get your coupons doubled. Most stores have stopped doubling coupons that say “do not double” and corporate policy says that you cannot use a coupon for the free item in a Buy 1 Get 1 Free deal. Although I wish I could, I cannot tell which coupons say “do not double.” Generally though, most printable coupons from General Mills brands (including Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Yoplait, etc.) say that.

Two things to remember about this list of deals. First, it does not include every sale-priced item that has a coupon. It only has those items whose final price is low enough for us to mention it. Second, it is a starting list. As we learn of more deals whose final price is low enough we will update this list. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

  1. Barbara says:

Thanks for getting this out early, I like to plan my list and have it all set to go for early Wed. doubleQdaze. I had on my list the Pepsi deal 12 packs are only $1.48 this is the lowest I have seen this year. Also the Keebler Cookies has a printable coupon for $1, not sure which site, but I just got 1 day ago from a link on Totally Target dot com list. Keebler also had a 55¢ Q from 4/18 RP, Nabisco crackers 5/$10 has a Q from 5/16 SS. Glad trash bags has $1 Q from 5/9 SS, All good deals from Memorial day stock up!

  2. Priscilla says:

The Pepsi products can be made even lower with the MFG coupon in the Cub Foods ad $2/4 12 packs.

So it would look like this:
Buy 5 Pepsi products (we buy Diet Mt. Dew) for $1.48 each (you have to buy 5, and an additional $25 purchase)
Use 1 Cub MFG coupon $2/4 12 packs
    = $5.48 for 5 12 packs of pop or $1.08 each

  3. Priscilla says:

or another Pepsi deal if you need pop is at Target:

    Buy 5/$15 & get a $5 gift card
Plus, use 2 Target coupons $1/2
Plus use 1 Cub MFG coupons $2/4
Factor in the gift card you are getting back
    = $6.00 for 5 12 packs of Pepsi brand($1.20 per 12 pack) ($11 oop & the $5 gift card back)

    Hope that helps someone!

  4. Aira says:

For the pop deal at Rainbow you need to spend $25, not including the pop. How is the $25 spent figured out? Is it the shelf price like for double coupons? Thanks.

    • Priscilla says:

I did note that you have to spend the additional $25 to get the Pepsi, if you are going to Rainbow to do doubles anyways…then you can add the pop onto your current order (since you need to have $25 shelf price before you can double anyways).

      So you can do this:
      Buy $25 worth of food
buy the 5 12 packs of pepsi
double 5 coupons, plus additional coupons if needed/wanted for your order
      use the Pepsi mfg coupons
      = out of pocket expense

  5. Aira says:

For the pop deal you need to spend $25, not including the pop. How is the $25 figured out? Is it by the shelf price like for double coupons?

  6. Brenda says:

I always base my charcoal price off of Sam’s Club. They carry Kingsford 2pks (44lbs total) for about $14 -$15 (hasn’t changed much in several years). Most of the “regular” store bags are 10-17 lbs.

  7. Lisa says:

The Banana Boat I bought at the Rainbow Foods in Bloomington was $7.99 each. There were different applications (spray, lotion, etc) and different SPFs – overall a decent selection. There was a “$1 off NOW” sticker and the 2 bottles I bought, so that brought it down to $5.99 for the 2. :)

  8. shonda says:

    FYI:
The coupon for the charcoal is limited to one per family.

  9. Tami W says:

On the Johnsonville Brats there is also a $1.50/1 Q in the 5-2 SS making them only $5.38.

    • Cindy P. says:

I went to print this coupon out and it says “no more prints for this campaign”.
Plus, I’m confused on the math and if this coupon would even work on trash bags.

      Glad Trash Bags $5.99
Use $1/1 from 5/9 Smartsource insert or $1/1 Glad printable for Internet Explorer or printable for Firefox (this is the same coupon as the KC Masterpiece so you can print it twice total per computer)
Final price: $0.89 after doubled coupon

    • Cindy P. says:

I didn’t mean to “reply” sorry.

    • Kristi says:

There is a coupon from paper not sure when I think it was listed last week! (HI TAMI!)

      • Kristi says:

I accidentally read Cindys statement as yours and missed what you wrote, I was looking for someone to mention that coupon. :)

  10. Sue says:

The Lays potato chip link took me to the All You page of PYD

  11. Tonia says:

This might be a silly question but I haven’t been able to go to Rainbow because we do not have one in our area. However, this weekend we will be near one. Can you go to the store a few times a day during the doubling days or is that nowt accepted?

    • Melissa says:

You can go as many times as you’d like, but there is a limit on how many you can rewards you can get on your Roundy’s card if you have one. Normally, two separate transactions are tolerable in one visit – separate your groceries with the bar and match up your coupons correctly for a swift transaction. Then go to your car, drop the groceries and go back in if you have more groceries you’d like to purchase.

    • Anne says:

Also, I’ve found that if you do seven transactions in one day, the 7th does not get the option of using the Roundy’s card. They will not offer the roundy’s “perks” on that 7th transaction.

      • Carrie Rocha says:

Anne – I actually think the limit for earning “perks” (or gas rewards specifically) stops on the 4th transaction in a single day.

        • Ruth W says:

Carrie– I routinely do 6 transactions a week and always get credit. The couple of times I have done 7 is where the card stops accruing points.

          • Carrie Rocha says:

Good to know. I am wrong then. I swore that it stopped sooner than that one time, then I asked and was told it was after 3, but I am mistaken. Thanks for correcting me (and poliiely too!) :)

          • Kristi says:

maybe daily and weekly are different.

  12. jen says:

hey i am willing to trade all of my pet coupons for others… i have tons!!!!

    email me at w i l s o n j c o o p e r @ g m a i l . c o m

  13. Jodi says:

Same thing happened to me for the Lays potato chip link. Also, I couldn’t get the Kraft cheese coupons to print from that link.

  14. Cindy P.

  15. Amanda says:

KC masterpiece coupon says out of print….

  16. yolanda says:

the Promise $1/1 from 5/23 red plum insert is a do not double coupon, still only $.50 same price as the country crock.
All of the prints for the Glad coupon are gone.

  17. Becca says:

Coupon friends, I need some advice.. The deals are awesome this week, and there are tons of things I’ve been waiting for. Problem is I’m leaving for a trip at 7am Wed. morning and not returning til Sunday. Should I shop on Tuesday and (sigh) not get double coupons or will some of these deals be available again in the near future so I don’t need to worry about missing out….

  18. Shauna says:

I have never understood how BOGO coupons work with sales. For instance on the Soy Joy above, since they are on BOGO sale and the coupon is BOGO, does it make it buy one, get two? And can these ever double?

  19. Rachel says:

I also am confused on the Glad Trash bags deal. How does it become .89 each?

  20. Doug says:

you list using 2 skippy coupons to get your ten items but the coupon states limit one coupon per purchase. Am I missing something?

  21. Melissa E says:

i saw there was a mfg coupon in the cub add for Kingsford. it says cub on it, but since it’s a mfg coupon, we should be able to use it at rainbow, right? has anyone had issues doing this before?

    • SarahBeth says:

Rainbow took a MFR coupon from the Cub paper last week when I bought pop. But they may not let you use it in addition to the $5 “grilling” coupon. This tends to vary by store.

  22. Rachel says:

The manager that had to come over to my register last week at Rainbow for the Cub pop coupon said as long as the MFR coupon from Cub has an address on it, it can be accepted because they know where to send it. This was the rainbow in Maple Grove.

  23. May says:

regarding the deal idea for the 10 products, they all have to be in one trans right? Im trying to double all of them if possible but I cant fit it all into 1 trans, is your total of $6.80 doubling only 5 of them?

  24. Kerri says:

On the Garden of Eatin’ website, I filled in the registration and when finished it went to a page that said Coupons Submit- but I didn’t have anything print out and it doesn’t appear to be a link for printing. Any suggestions? Anyone else have this problem?

  25. natalie says:

Not all Rainbows open at 6am. I do know that Lakeville is 7am.

  26. coupon shopper says:

speaking of garbage bags, the roundys brand of garbage bags/trash bags is very good and comparable I think to the name brands. The trash bags generally 4 bucks and change and this is a good filler item to make up the $25 on double days…another filler item I like is the dollar aisle dish liquid.

  27. Cindy P. says:

Wacky Mac Veggie Shapes, Spirals or Bowls 12 oz. is on sale for 10/$10. I think there was a coupon last week for $.50 off 1. With double coupon, it’s free! I’ve never tried it before, could be fun for pasta salads!

  28. Melissa says:

i called the rainbow at Plymouth Station and they don’t take manufacturers coupons that say cub, target, walgreens, etc on them. Bummer.

  29. Kristi says:

is the wishbone dressing part of the unilever $5 back deal? it is on that page but unclear. also My paper doesn’t show promise or is I can’t believe it’s not butter the same item now? (I usually grab move over butter)

  30. Sheridan says:

    skippy printables are gone.

    :-)

  31. Lthrbth says:

I’m confused about the Huggies Wipes listed above. I don’t see anything about them on sale in the Rainbow ad online. Soooo – what size is $2? I don’t get it.

  32. Naomi says:

I just called Chaska Rainbow and they do accept Manufacture Coupons that say Cub, Target, etc.

  33. Lisa ** says:

Wasn’t there a Kraft Cheese coupon in the saving book that expires on 05/26 (weds) for $1/2? If I remember correctly there was.

If so Kraft Cheese is 3/$4.98 or $1.66 each.
Buy 2 and use the $1/2
Doubled Q would make it 2 for $1.32

  34. Dawn M says:

How do you figure 25.00 with the Unlever with the deal above. I am trying to put together a deal but when I added the one you posted it didn’t come to 25.00? Thanks

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Dawn – The Unilever money off next order requires you to buy 10 products, which the list has. The $25 is calculated using the full price, not the sale price.

  35. Michelle says:

  38. Leann says:

So many deals, so little time to shop!! What am I going to do this week?? Too bad all these deals didn’t come on a double, double daze week!

  39. Molly says:

I can’t find any Lipton Recipe Secrets, are they gone??

  40. paigebaum says:

The Crystal Light Pure Fitness Drink Mix is included in the sale (2/$4), so the dollar off coupon would be a good one to double.

  41. Melissa says:

When i was at rainbow this morning, there was a display of snapple teas including the new flavors from celebrity apprentice and they had a mail in rebate form attached to the display making them free.

    • anita says:

even better, the ones at my store had $1/1 pellies making them $3 and getting a $5 rebate. MM
The rebate says 1 per person not household, so grab extra rebates.

    • Laura says:

Thanks for the heads up on the Snapple. I did 3 transactions this morning and I needed some good value items to get me to $25. The snapple was $5 as far as the Rainbow cash register was concerned but for me with the rebate – FREE!

  42. Rachel says:

My Deal of the morning at the MG Rainbow: Variety pack (12 containers) GLAD on sale for 2.59, normally 6, used glad/KC masterpiece printable coupon and got for .59!! .04 per container and lid

Anyone know how much the Planers nut bars are this week? I have coupons I was hoping to use?

  44. Kathy says:

Does anyone know if the additional $25 for the pop deal is shelf price or current price?

  45. Shelly says:

Thanks to the individuals that pointed out the Pepsi manufacturer coupon the Cub ad had this week. Because of that, I got five 12 packs of various Pepsi products (at Rainbow) for $5.59 total! As much as I hate buying soda, this will keep my teenage sons & his friends hanging out here : ) Also thanks to the individual that pointed out the Kraft cheese coupon in the last “savings book”. 2 things of Kraft cheese for slightly less that $1.40 total. I also appreciated getting a free Dove deodorant and a free box of Grape nuts, and whole wheat flour for 99 cents. The $3.99 seedless watermelons were big and looked nice this morning. First watermelons of the season for us! Thanks everyone.

  46. rochelle says:

I did the Cub coupon and the kraft cheese manuf coupon from their book today. Also they had select quaker granola bars on clearance for 1.42. I had the county market $3 off five products and snagged five boxes for 4.10 (82 cents each). They could be free if you have some other coupons! I also used $2 off 64 count wipes box from Huggies making them free this week!!! Gotta love that!

    • rochelle says:

should clarify the manufacturers coupon from the county market ad. They also had 1.99 clearance banana nut quaker oatmeal.

  47. Carmen says:

The coupon website also has a $2/1 Huggies Wipes coupon making those free without having to use up your doubling coupons.

    • Jessica B. says:

      Which coupon website?

      • rochelle says:

coupons.com has $2 off one package. no doubling required! can print coupon twice.

        • anita says:

all I saw was $2/2 for huggies wipes.

          • Chelle says:

There are two of them on there. I accidentally printed one of the $2/2 ones without realizing it along with the $2/1. I thought I got lucky and it printed me out an extra one! LOL. I totally didn’t see this sale so I am going to go back tomorrow and get me some free wipes. And since they only had 2 things of Dove deodorant I’ll grab some more of that. I didn’t feel like getting a rain check.

          • Chelle says:

Ok, so I was quite wrong here. It’s buy a reg pack of wipes AND a refill pack for $2/1. :( Sorry! Dang.

    • Jenn says:

I was excited when I saw this… then I went to coupons.com but I don’t see it… I do see 2.00 off WYB 1 baby wipes tub AND refill pack…

  48. pam says:

My favorite cashier at the bloomington RAinbow would not allow the Cub manufactures coupon for coke last week. I didn’t dare argue because she usually makes all my coupons work for me.

  49. Kelly Smith says:

Hi Guys! I found a coupon that you might be interested in…for the Johnsonville Brats 3lb pack. There is a $1.50 off one in the 5/2 Smartsource. That brings your total down to $5.38. Hope that helps someone! ;) Happy shopping! ~Kelly

  50. Jenn says:

A couple of extra deals I found & did today. Sorry, I clip all of my coupons so I am not sure which inserts they are from, but you can look it up on couponmom.com :)

Texas Toast Croutons: on sale for $1.09, used .50/1 coupon that doubled bringing the total down to .09! I especially love the Sea Salt & Pepper ones! :)

Breyers 100 calorie 4-pack Yogurt Crunch: on sale for $2.50 each, used .75/1 coupon that doubled, final cost was $1.00. Hubby loves these :)

Quaker Chewy Strawberry Vanilla Granola Bars are clearanced 50% off making them just 1.42 (that in itself is cheaper than any sale I’ve seen on these granola bars…), and I used .75/2 coupon that doubled, making them just .67 each. My kids LOVE these granola bars – it’ll be a nice treat for them!

There was also a Quaker True Delights that was 50% off & I got one of those… had no coupon but I am sure there are some out there for this, too…

All in all, I got $200 worth of stuff for just $74, and I did the sunscreen deal, too!
