Here are some of the latest deals and free events happening in the Twin Cities area. For other events happening this weekend, check out my post from earlier this week. If you’d like to learn of more local deals and events, click here to find other deals we’ve posted (many of which are still good).

Fairview Child’s Safety Fair & Bike Rodeo will be held Saturday, May 22 from 11am-2pm at Fairview Medical Center in Maple Grove. This event is free for kids of all ages and will include bike inspections and repairs, hands-on bike safety training, helmet fittings, and more. There will also be a fire truck, ambulance, and helicopter present for your child to check out as well as a drawing for a free bike. Helmets will be available to purchase at a discounted price ($10). Registration is required, so call 612.672.7272 to reserve your spot.

Minneapolis Parks & Recreation Summer Programming. Check out this fantastic list of free summer programs for preschool-aged children offered at Minneapolis Parks & Recreation. In most cases, you’ll need to call to register for the programs. (Thanks, Minneapoless!)

The Provisions Book. If you live in Minneapolis, the Lake Minnetonka area, or the West Metro, check out savings in your area by stopping by The Provisions Book website. You can also sign up for their email list to receive updates and be entered to win local gift certificates (I – Laura – just won a $20 gift certificate to Baja Sol Cantina) and find current coupons and a listing of local community events.

Rosedale Center Family Safety Event is another safety event that will be held this Saturday, May 22 from 10am-1pm in the East Court of the Rosedale Center. Kids can meet McGruff the Crime Dog, tour the Roseville Fire Department’s fire truck (located in the parking lot near JCPenney and Green Mill), and visit with Roseville’s police officers. The first 75 children will receive a free child ID kit.

Your turn: What other free events do you know of that are happening in the Twin Cities this weekend and beyond?

Thanks Laura! I was just going to buy my 17 mo. old a helmet at Dicks for 15.99 so she can ride in our Burley this weekend, but I can get her one for 10 this weekend! I can put that 5.99 to good use at Rainbow on Saturday instead :-)

Several of the nature centers in the Three Rivers Park District offer free family programs on weekends in the summer. Go to the website and search for Eastman Nature Center. We have free programs on Sundays, alternating 'feed the animals' and 'meet our Great Horned Owl'. It's also free to enter and hike at the nature centers. Come out for a visit ;)

Lowe's is having another kids workshop this weekend. I've taken my 6 year old grandson to prior workshops and he loves making the projects.

For those of you in the West Metro, the city of Plymouth sponsors $10 bike helmets once a week during the summer (you don't need to be a resident.) They will also fit your child. Check out their city website for details. I believe it's under Child Safety.

Also remember to check out your church or the local churches in your area. Many of them offer fun summer activities from bar-b-ques to vacation Bible school.

Another place to check is the local Bible camps. Many have a family free day.
