Local Deals: Chanhassen, Mall of America, St. Paul Farmers’ Market

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

Chanhassen Dinner Theater. Are you planning to see “Footloose” at Chanhassen this June and July? Before you buy your tickets, you should know that kids (ages 5-16) get in free on Tuesday and Wednesday nights with the purchase of an adult ticket. Although you’ll be paying $66 for an adult ticket, keep in mind that this deal will save you $49 (the price of a kids’ ticket for Tuesday/Wednesday nights). Don’t forget to sign up for Chanhassen’s Birthday & Anniversary Club to receive other deals, too. (Thanks, Minneapoless!)

Mall of America. We’ve mentioned the Saturday Free Family Movies and Toddler Tuesdays at the Mall of America before, but here’s another reminder for you. Tomorrow, May 11, kids will be able to meet Curious George for Toddler Tuesday at the Best Buy Rotunda. (Anyone know if this is going to be a real monkey?) There will also be a fun craft project for the kids, too. You can download the April-June Toddler Tuesdays brochure to find out about other upcoming events and print some coupons.

Also, today is the last day (sorry for the late notice!) to enter to win the “Shrek Forever After” Ultimate Birthday Party Contest. You and your child will need to fill out the entry form and submit an essay (250 words or less) to be entered to win an advanced screening of “Shrek Forever After” for your child and 100 of his/her closest friends – wow!

St. Paul Farmers’ Market. Yay – it’s farmers’ market season again! Get a free donut and cup of coffee at the St. Paul Farmers’ Market this weekend (and any weekend in May) when you present this coupon. Limit one per customer, expires 5/31. The St. Paul Farmers’ Market is open from 6am-1pm on Saturdays and 8am-1pm on Sundays. I love to stop by my local farmers’ market to pick up fresh flowers, produce, honey, and more.

Your turn: What are your thoughts on Curious George – real monkey or fake monkey? And what do you love about your local farmers’ market?

Does anyone know a way to find where/when local farmers markets are held? We aren’t interested in driving to Mpls/St. Paul but something south of the river would be great.

  2. Cath says:

There is no way the MOA would accept the liability for a live monkey! But I love your question: “real monkey or fake monkey?” I love when the PYD ladies’ personalities come out! :)

    • Laura Wales says:

Cath – That’s what I figured. :) We like to crack a joke every once in a while around here.

    • Jen says:

We have gone before when Curious George is there. It was an adult in a costume….my son loved him!!!! Well he was a bit shy, but so excited to actually see him in person.

  3. Andrea says:

In Burnsville, I know they have a Farmer’s Market off of Burnsville Pkwy and 35W. I don’t remember the exact name of the street, but it’s inbetween 35W and Nicollet avenue. You can’t miss it. It’s not huge, but they have the most gorgeous flowers!

You type in your city and it lists every one and how far away they are! And lists the days!

the link to download the April-June Toddler Tuesdays brochure is not working…

  6. Rachelle says:

St Paul’s Urban U-Pick farm (in St Paul) is having its Grand Opening this Saturday (the 14th) @ 668 Victoria Street. Runs from 8 am – 12 noon. Susane (owner) will have great food samples, free drawings and pick of fresh crops. Check pics @ http://www.citybackyardfarming.com

  8. Sarah says:

I absolutely love the farmers market. My favorite thing right now is the fresh locally grown asparagus! I just picked up a bag this weekend at the Minneapolis Farmers market. YUMMY!

  9. Flannel Guy says:

I am a night person and am quite comfortable with that. Why in the world do Farmer’s Markets ignore those of us whose body clocks run earlier than mainstream?? I am SURE that an evening / late night farmer’s market would be hugely successful.

  10. David says:

If your child watches Veggie Tales or is a science buff, you’ll know that Curious Geroge isn’t a monkey (“If it hasn’t got a tail, it’s not a monkey, it’s an ape”). :)
